Admittedly, it’s strange to start a review with a list of complaints, but the new thriller “Every Breath You Take,” directed by Vaughn Stein, written by David Murray, and starring Casey Affleck, just begs for it. Much like how Affleck’s psychiatrist character deals with his patients, it is fitting to address the obvious issues with this film in a series of bullet points:
From a technical standpoint, the film is underlit and over-edited.

Harrison Ford and Zac Efron are in negotiations to topline the psychological thriller You Belong to Me, which will mark a return to the thriller genre for Rob Reiner.
Ford would portray a psychiatrist struggling with the recent suicide of one of his female patients. He bonds with her brother James (Efron), but learns to regret that bond when he lets James into his life and James begins seducing his wife and daughter.
David Murray provides the script, which is described along the lines of Cape Fear.
You Belong to Me will be shopped to buyers at the annual American Film Market in Santa Monica next week.
The project is currently under way, with the start of production targeted for a March 2013.
As Reiner last foray into thriller territory being the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery, he previously commented on that fact by saying:

Audiences might think of Rob Reiner as the director of classic comedies like This Is Spinal Tap and The Sure Thing but the 65-year-old filmmaker returned to the thriller genre for his next directing job. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reiner signed on to direct You Belong to Me for Stone Village Pictures, the production shingle behind the recent hit The Lincoln Lawyer. David Murray wrote the script about a psychiatrist who breaks a professional taboo and talks abut himself with his patients, opening the door to trouble.
