As you may have heard, we were all given a heads up to stick around after the credits for Swamp Thing‘s season finale. So if you didn’t do as instructed, be sure to fire up the concluding episode once again so that you be treated to an additional scene.
For those up to speed, you finally saw Jason Woodrue become a fully mutated Floronic Man. After being brought to life as a multilayered antagonist by a nuanced Kevin Durand, the Machiavellian scientist found himself emerging as the very antithesis of Swamp Thing himself.
Basically, Jason had been working diligently throughout the season to assure that his wife be pulled back from the abyss that is Alzheimer’s disease. While doing so, he couldn’t help noticing the regenerative properties possessed by the organs belonging to Alec Holland – or, at least, the plant that believed itself to be him.

Swamp Thing Episode 2
It’s weird being in the midst of an episode review for a show when you find out the whole thing has been canceled. But it’s especially disappointing when the episode you’re writing about is so damn good. Such is the case for “Worlds Apart,” the excellent second hour of the just-canceled Swamp Thing on the DC Universe streaming platform.
Following an impressive premiere, the new episode – directed by executive producer, and Underworld master Len Wiseman -- delivers more horror, some gore, and satisfying swamp monster hero action while setting up a supernatural element.
The action picks up after the events of the pilot episode that had Alec Holland (Andy Bean) blown up and transformed by the swamp into the titular monster (Derek Mears...

Adrienne Barbeau, the female lead of Wes Craven’s 1982 film adaptation of Swamp Thing, is coming back to the franchise. The actress said on social media that she will be in the upcoming DC Universe series and said that she is "Happy to be headed back to the swamps!"
This announcement has since been deleted from her social media accounts, but this is the internet and it’s too late. The cat is out of the bag and it’s pretty cool news!
Barbeau took on the role of Alice Cable in the original film, a female version of Matt Cable, who will be played by Henderson Wade in the new series.
There’s no word on who Barbeau will be playing in the series, but she’s certainly making a great and welcome addition. The actress has appeared in several classic films in her career including John Carpenter’s The Fog,...

In addition to hosting the new Shudder Original podcast She Kills, Adrienne Barbeau also has another exciting project underway this year, as she'll appear in DC Universe's new Swamp Thing series.
On Twitter, Barbeau announced that she's "headed back to the swamps" in the live-action Swamp Thing series that is expected to premiere on the DC Universe streaming service sometime this year.
As alluded in her tweet (see below), this won't be the first time Barbeau has explored the water-logged world of Swamp Thing, as she played Alicee Cabl in Wes Craven's 1982 Swamp Thing movie, based on the iconic character from the brilliant minds of Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson.
It's not yet known if she'll reprise her role as Alice Cable in the new series (Jennifer Beals will play Sheriff Lucilia Cable and Henderson Wade will play Matt Cable in the new show), but we'll keep Daily...

Ian Ziering will play Daniel Cassidy, Blue Devil, on the DC Universe Swamp Thing TV series.
The swamps are getting crowded. So far the production of the DC Universe Swamp Thing TV show has focused on characters specific to ol' Swampy's world and immediate supporting cast. But now, as all the great DC TV shows do, they're dipping into some more obscure characters to round things out.
In this case it's Daniel Cassidy, the man who becomes DC Comics cult favorite Blue Devil, who will be played by Ian Ziering. Here's the character description (via Deadline) which seems to outline the approach they're taking with Blue Devil...
"Stuntman turned movie star Daniel Cassidy...became semi-famous after playing the demonic Blue Devil. But now, eight years later, Cassidy finds himself living out his days in frustration, pining for his former fame while on a collision course with destiny.

Exclusive: Riverdale and Extant actor Henderson Wade is joining the cast of Swamp Thing in the series-regular role of Matt Cable, a Louisiana lawman who finds himself in dire straits when supernatural evil threatens the town he’s sworn to protect.
Wade also wore a badge on six episodes of The CW’s Riverdale this season as Sheriff Michael Minetta. The Washington, D.C., native and Syracuse University graduate also portrayed Adhu, the son of Molly Woods (Halle Berry), in six episodes of Extant. Wade’s other credits include The Last Ship, American Horror Story: Roanoke, NCIS and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.
The Matt Cable character has a long history in the pages of DC Comics. He was introduced the first issue of Swamp Thing in 1972 (as a federal agent in that incarnation) and assigned to protect scientist Alec Holland. Cable fails in that assignment and blames a mysterious bog...

Some new information has surfaced regarding DC Universe's Swamp Thing series that is being produced by James Wan. According to Splash Report, the creator of the Underworld film franchise, Len Wiseman, is set to direct the Swamp Thing pilot which is set to start filming in the Fall in Wilmington, Nc.
I like Len Wiseman and the film and TV work that he has done for the most part, and I think he's a good fit for Swamp Thing. We also have some new details on the pilot episode, but before we get to that, here are the details that we were previously given.
Swamp Thing will follow "Cdc researcher Abby Arcane, who returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. Until this short series, I had never read a comic book with Swamp Thing. So I thought it would be a good way to get to know the character a little bit. Reason being is that I am not very interested in the Justice League Dark characters (except Zatanna). Although there is nothing astonishing about this series, it has allowed me a chance to get to know Alec Holland aka Swamp Thing. We have seen him respectfully fight an alligator and put down a zombie. Now he faces his biggest challenge yet. Thanks to Zatanna and something called “The Hand of Fatima”, Alec has transferred his powers to his “friend” Matt Cable. We come to find out that he wants the powers to pretty much take over the world and that is where this issue kicks off.
Alec needs to find a way to take back his powers. Unfortunately it...

The Saga of the Swamp Thing Book 2 | DC Comics/Vertigo
I’ve long insisted that Alan Moore’s best comic book work was his run on the Swamp Thing and specifically issues #20 – 50. This volume is smack dab in the middle of that run collecting issues #28 – 34. Moore had redefined Swamp Thing. Instead of a man who thought he was a monster, Swmp Thing became a monster that thought he had been a man. It is the life and death of Alec Holland that Moore deals with as this volume opens. Having come to grips with the realization that he had never been Alec Holland, Swamp Thing sets out to put Holland’s ghost, both spiritually and metaphorically to rest. Returning to the location where Holland died in an explosion, Swamp Thing finds Holland’s bones, still buried in the muck of the swamp. With Holland now put officially to rest, Swamp Thing...

Saga of the Swamp Thing Book Two
By Alan Moore, Stephen Bissette, John Totleben
DC Comics, 224 pages, $24.99
DC’s hardcover collections of Alan Moore’s run on Swamp Thing continues with the release of the second volume next Wednesday. The nicest thing about these releases is that it prompts us to go back and reread the stories to conjure up memories of what it was like the first time we encountered these tales.
By the time these eight stories saw print in 1984 and 1985, the buzz had grown deafening and clearly this was the most talked about series and set of creators at the time. What Alan did was bring fresh thinking to American comic book concepts and played with the readers’ expectations for mainstream storytelling and horror.
Moore’s gift for words crowded the pages with allusions and imagery previously unseen and when we could look at the artwork, it was stunning.
