It seems 2015/2016 shall be marked as the TV season that saw the resurgence of old shows reborn in mini-series form (or “event series” as the Us networks so desperately want us to call them). Its also the year that these returning shows, The X-Files and Heroes Reborn, did nothing but disappoint the fans who loved the shows and hoped – beyond all hope it turns out – that these new iterations would recapture what made the original series so good.
Heroes Reborn comes from original series creator Tim Kring (Heroes, Touch, Daybreak) and begins a year ago, in Odessa, Texas after a terrorist attack leaves the city decimated. Those with extraordinary abilities are blamed for this tragic event forcing them into hiding...

Since last September, Heroes Reborn has been taunting viewers with two things: (1) the inevitability of a massive, solar flare-induced apocalypse, and (2) the hope that Tommy, Malina and the rest of the Evos could save the world from its terrifying end.
So, did they?
Well, I’ll give you the simple answer first: Yes. Of course. (Even Tim Kring can deliver a happy ending!)

But here’s the more complicated, timey-wimey answer: In Thursday’s series finale, the fate of the world is ultimately left up to Tommy (er, Nathan, if we’re really...

1.8 June 13th Part Two
While last week’s instalment of June 13th was impressive for the most part, a lot of time was spent putting the events of the series into context and moving the various pieces of the show into position ready for Heroes Reborn’s final act. Anyone expecting part two to be the pay-off to last week’s set-up will be left disappointed however, as this week’s outing continues in much the same vein of relentlessly rapid story progression.
Once again, the revelations are non-stop and with time-travel shenanigans at the core of the episode, patching everything together is quite the mental workout. Keeping track of each character connection and timeline alteration after only one viewing would surely require the...

1.7 July 13th Part One
After last week’s muddled and lacklustre effort, Heroes Reborn does a decent job of making amends in this wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey first of a two-part affair set entirely in the past at the Odessa summit bombing that triggered the events of the show.
Heroes traditionally has a great track record of episodes set outside of the main story’s time period and part one of July 13th is, for the most part, no different. Things do however, take a while to click into place. The opening conversation between returning characters Mohinder Suresh and Angela Petrelli should be a treat for the show’s long-time fans but comes off as an awkward and contrived exposition dump. Both characters recover as the episode progresses,...

Last week’s episode of Heroes Reborn featured the return of original Heroes star Masi Oka as the fan-favorite time-traveling and teleporting Hiro Nakamura, who is also back in this Thursday’s episode of the show. TVOvermind was fortunate to speak with Oka this week, and we asked him about his experience returning to this iconic role, the how the presence and importance of diversity on television has evolved since when Heroes first started, and much more. If you haven’t seen last week’s episode of Heroes Reborn, we do warn for some mild spoilers. TVOvermind: Now that you are back in this role that has changed a lot since the end of Heroes Season 4, how has that been for you as an actor to get to go back to that character who has now evolved into something that we didn’t see back in the final episodes of the original Heroes?...

Masi Oka is ready to be heroic once again.
The star is in the midst of a three-episode arc on Heroes Reborn, and though he's excited to reprise his role as the time-traveling Hiro Nakamura, getting back into the action has been a challenge.
The actor, 40, is currently starring on Hawaii Five-0 but finds Heroes is more physically demanding, particularly picking up the role he first played in 2006 "a few pounds and a couple of years" later.

Did ... I ... was that … am I tripping, or has Heroes Reborn suddenly redeemed itself? I mean, it certainly hasn’t reached Heroes season one status yet, not by any stretch of the imagination; no “event mini-series” could ever truly live up to its original, I think (unless you count the Sherlock Christmas specials). But given that the first half of this series has given audiences no justification whatsoever for its existence, as though a Heroes plot-generating bot had simply been switched back on after gathering dust in an NBC-owned warehouse for the past five years, suddenly, this week’s turn of events feel like the beginnings of a show with a unique personality and direction.I guess I would be lying if I said the return of Hiro Nakamura wasn’t 90 percent responsible for this. May Masi Oka live 1,000 years. So, let’s go in ascending order of importance: Luke...

A familiar face arrives in Heroes Reborn, but will it be enough to make up for inconsistent character development elsewhere?
This review contains spoilers.
1.6 Game Over
Game Over is not an easy episode to wrap your head around. It continues Heroes Reborn’s rapid pacing and an awful lot happens in each character’s story arc but worryingly, much of this week’s action comes out of leftfield, contradicting previous character and story development.
Luke’s suicide attempt, for example, wasn’t how most viewers would’ve expected the character to develop, yet it’s baffling how quickly his resolve to end his life disappears after being rescued at the hands of Malina and some shoddy special effects. Watching the farcical scene in which the ex-Evo hunter is looking rather sheepish after his attempted drowning and Malina passes him a hot drink, you’d think the guy...

All together now, Heroes Reborn fans: “Yatta!”
Not only does Thursday’s episode of the NBC drama bring the return of Hiro Nakamura — a reason for celebration in itself — but it also unites a few key characters and, at last, sets them on the path to saving the world.
First, let’s break down the eventful moments in Midian during “Game Over” — and there are a whole lot of complicated details involved here, so I’m going to try to make it as easy as possible.

I know that the Evos on Heroes Reborn are responsible for saving the world and all that… but as of Episode 5, they’re not making a great case for their ability to protect humanity from extinction.
How is Tommy Clarke supposed to fulfill his Earth-rescuing destiny if he can barely handle the revelation that he was adopted? How can Malina save the planet if she can’t manage to defend herself against The Shadow? And why did Luke have to burn down a perfectly nice house just to prove a point?

The cliches are back in force in this week's episode of Heroes Reborn, which lacks the action and spectacle of the last instalment...
This review contains spoilers.
4.1 The Needs Of The Many
Heroes Reborn has done an admirable job thus far of avoiding the clichéd and corny dialogue that can often plague the superhero genre, but in this week’s episode, those familiar tropes were back in force. Joey Falco’s script featured Teleport Tom delivering the standard ‘ever feel you were born to do something greater?’ spiel that I’m surprised hasn’t already been copyrighted by Marvel, Carlos spouting a typically masculine “we’ll just have to get him first” quip as he strides off to battle and Malina took a cue from Return Of The King’s Éowyn as she asserted, quite accurately, that she is not a “grown man”. It isn’t something...

Heroes Reborn has improved since its opening double-bill with this briskly paced impressive third episode...
This review contains spoilers.
1.3 Under The Mask
Last week’s Heroes Reborn double bill was, without question, a solid opening but was obliged to carry the weight of character introductions and the standard start-of-season admin duties. With that out of the way, Under The Mask proves to be an even more impressive venture and a thoroughly entertaining episode reminiscent of the character-driven, interlacing story that originally attracted many fans to Heroes.
Any concerns over how the many plotlines kicked into motion last week could be sufficiently covered within the 13-episode run are quickly put to bed thanks to the brisk pace evident in episode three. An awful lot of ground is covered for all of our primary characters but at no point do proceedings feel rushed and whereas episodes one and two were cluttered at times,...

Thursday’s episode of Heroes Reborn can best be summed up by Ghost‘s Oda Mae Brown: “Molly, you in danger, girl.”
Even though the hour was certainly harrowing for Miko, Tommy and the rest of the Evos, none of them were kidnapped, tranquilized on a flight to Colorado or had wires inserted into their skull so that a corrupt corporation could use their powers for evil. So, yeah, Molly Walker wins this round.

If you think some of the biggest shows premiering this fall seem a bit familiar, you aren't wrong.
In addition to the standard influx of brand-new pilots, the fall TV scheduled is jam-packed with spinoffs and reboots of films and TV shows that we already know and love. Once again, it's time for a motley band of mutants to save the world. At least, they'd better, in "Heroes Reborn," the NBC limited series that debuts Sept. 24. Picking up where the 2006-10 series "Heroes" left off, the new drama will bring back several prominent characters from the old show, including time-and-space-halting Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), mysterious operative Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), his equally mysterious partner The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), mind-reader Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), power broker Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), scholar Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), and Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey), who can control machines with his mind.
But what of the rest? Well, "Heroes" turned out to be a launch pad for many talented stars who've gone on to busy, super-powered careers of their own. (Granted, Oka found time to come back to the mainland for "Heroes Reborn," despite his starring role on "Hawaii Five-o." But then, Hiro can manipulate space and time.

There aren’t a lot of shows with the ratings history of Heroes that would spawn a revival/respawn/sequel. While the show launched to huge ratings, and had an impressive first season, it continually declined for the rest of its run, ultimately falling far enough that by the fourth season it wasn’t any surprise that the show was going.
Apart from the pure ratings approach to popularity, there was something of a backlash before long, and though a solid base of fans complained when the show left, it wasn’t in the pop culture spotlight.
Now, after some 8 years have gone, the show returns with Heroes Reborn.
It isn’t quite the next greatest thing, mostly because it has too much to do, and there’s no way to fit it all in, but it isn’t going to disappoint fans, and it balances the mystery with the...

A new trailer for the relaunch of the show – Heroes Reborn – has arrived. The basics are similar this time around, with a new phenomenon leading to the creation/ awakening of powers in a new crop of people who must figure out how to use their abilities for good while dealing with the dangerous forces who would use them for ill. With Tim King returning as head writer and executive producer of the show, the new short series is bringing back veteran cast members Jack Coleman as H.R.G., Jimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura and Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, joined by new faces Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Kiki Sukezane, Henry Zebrowski, Gatlin Green and Ryan Guzman. The Haitian, as played by Jimmy Jean-Louis, will return for NBC's "Heroes" reboot, titled "Heroes Reborn." Jean-Louis joins the previously cast Judith Shekoni (photo left), a newcomer to the "Heroes" universe, although no details yet on what role she's been assigned. The aloof Haitian, aka René, whose abilities included memory manipulation and suppressing the powers of others, was an associate of Noah Bennet, played by Jack Coleman, father of Claire, and probably the most frequently seen character in the series. Coleman will be back as well to reprise his role as Bennet, as will Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura. Also in the...

Where have all the heroes gone?
In a new teaser trailer for NBC's upcoming series reboot Heroes Reborn, the world without the supernaturally gifted stars of the popular 2006–10 drama looks bleak.
The 30-second clip shows a desolate world, riddled with riots and fires. The overarching message in the dystopian setting? The heroes are missing.
"Where are the heroes?" is painted like graffiti on everything from a barn to a broken-down wall.
An eerie choral rendition of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" accompanies the promo for the 13-episode continuation of Heroes.
The miniseries will continue the saga of the ordinary people who...

For a series that was initially greenlit as a tangential offshoot, Heroes Reborn has certainly gathered up quite a few cast members from the original show. We already know that Heroes veterans Jack Coleman (Noah “Hrg” Bennet), Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura), Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman) and Jimmy Jean-Louis (The Haitian) will be returning in recurring and guest roles, and now, it’s been announced that two more familiar faces have been added to that list.
Sendhil Ramamurthy, who played Dr. Mohinder Suresh, and Noah Gray-Cabey, who played young Micah Sanders, have both jumped aboard Heroes Reborn in guest roles. Unfortunately, we have no idea what they’ll be doing, how many episodes they’ll show up in or what their characters have been up to since we last saw them. Micah’s return will perhaps be the most jarring though, as Gray-Cabey is now 19 years old and no longer sports...

Another familiar face is returning for Heroes Reborn. Sendhil Ramamurthy is set to reprise his role as Dr. Mohinder Suresh, the geneticist who continued his father’s work after his death, studying the “evolved humans,” in NBC’s revival of the once hit sci-fi series. Deadline was the first to report the casting news. Ramamurthy is the latest Heroes alum to join the cast of Heroes Reborn. Other returning stars set to appear in the limited series are Jack Coleman (Noah Bennett/Hrg), who will be a series regular, and Masi Oka (Hiro Nakamura), Jimmy Jean-Louis (The Hatian), and Greg Gruunberg (Matt Parkman), who will all serve as guest or recurring stars throughout the revival. Deadline does not specify what size role Ramamurthy will have in Heroes Reborn, although it’s more likely than not that he will be a guest or recurring star. The actor confirmed his return for Heroes fans on Twitter,...

Telepathic detective Matt Parkman – as played by Greg Grunberg - will be returning to Heroes Reborn, it’s been confirmed…
As you probably guessed from the title and accompanying image of this article, Greg Grunberg will be reprising his role as telepathic detective Matt Parkman in NBC’s upcoming Heroes Reborn, the continuation of the original Heroes series.
Greg Grunberg’s character will have a ‘guest arc’ in the new series, which we suppose could mean anything than a string of fan-service cameos to a strong self-contained story. Naturally, we won’t know the full extent of Matt Parkman’s role in proceedings until we seem them play out on TV.
“This highly anticipated 13-episode event series will reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season, where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities,” but also “develops new layers to [returning creator Tim Kring’s] original superhero concept,...

With its miserable fall season, NBC could really use a hit right now, and it’s banking on Heroes Reborn, a continuation of the once-popular superhero series, to provide that boost. Today, the network released the first official images from the upcoming limited series, which will see the return of some old cast members as well as the unveiling of many new ones. The new shots provide our first look at Jack Coleman, reprising the role of Noah Bennet (aka Hrg), and new characters played by Chuck alum Zachary Levi and up-and-comer Kiki Sukezane.
Levi plays Luke Collins, a mysterious character who clearly seems none-too-happy with someone he’s holding a gun on, while Sukezane is taking on the role of Miko Otomo. NBC’s Heroes Reborn reboot series continues to shape up, as another actress has been added to the growing cast. According to EW, the latest addition is Dexter and Masters of Sex alum Rya Kihlstedt, in a role that – much like most of the details about this project – is being kept tightly under wraps.
We do know that Kihlstedt will be a series regular, so whoever she’s playing, we’ll be seeing a lot of her. She’s just one of several new additions to the Heroes mythos, the others being Zachary Levi, Ryan Guzman, Robbie Kay, Kiki Sukezane, Judith Shekoni, Dinika Yarosh, Henry Zebrowski and Gatlin Green.
Much of the original cast is not expected to appear, though several of them could pop up in cameo roles. Those who we know will be present are Jack Coleman’s Noah “Hrg” Bennet, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura and Jimmy Jean-Louis as “The Haitian.
