Christine Romans, a veteran financial journalist who had been with CNN for more than two decades, has joined NBC News.
In her new role, Romans will be charged with “reporting across all platforms of NBC News, including writing for digital and on MSNBC,” according to a memo issued Monday by Catherine Kim, senior vice president editorial for NBC News. “As our senior business correspondent based in New York, Christine will cover all aspects of major breaking business news with a core emphasis on the economy – inflation, jobs, wages, debt, the Fed, manufacturing and trade, regional trends, and how it affects the daily lives of Americans across the country.”
Her arrival at NBC has been anticipated since July, when she formally exited CNN.
Romans had been co-anchor of “Early Start,” the CNN early-morning program since January of 2014, but also covered a bevy of significant business-news developments during her time at the Warner Bros. Discovery cable-news outlet.

Exclusive: William Fichtner (Hypnotic) has been set to star opposite Free Solo‘s Alex Honnold and his fellow climbing legends Brette Harrington (The Alpinist) and Adrian Ballinger (Edge of the Earth) in The Sound, an indie horror pic set in the adrenaline-filled world of big wall rock climbing.
Written and directed by Brendan Devane (The Canyonlands), the film currently in production in Nevada follows a group of climbers as they embark on the formidable challenge of conquering the Forbidden Wall, a perilous climb that has remained off-limits for years. What initially begins as an audacious expedition swiftly transforms into a harrowing battle for survival against a malevolent force that toys with their minds and tests their resilience.
Intel on the climbers’ roles hasn’t been disclosed, but Fichtner portrays Conner, a father who is faced with losing his son in the same way he lost his father at a young age.

ABC has opted not to renew for a second season The Company You Keep, its new drama series starring and executive produced by Milo Ventimiglia.
The Company You Keep, produced by Disney TV Studios’ 20th Television, did not perform as well as ABC’s two other midseason 2023 entries, fellow drama Will Trent, which has been renewed for a second season, and comedy Not Dead Yet, which is looking good for a renewal.
Still, Disney has longstanding relationship with Ventimiglia, who segued to The Company You Keep following his six-season starring turn on 20th Television’s hit NBC drama This Is Us. Based on that and the fact that The Company You Keep only premiered in midseason, there was talk that ABC may give the series a partial second season order to give it more time to find an audience.

“Big Sky” is officially going to the big network in the sky. ABC will not be moving forward with the David E. Kelley crime drama. The network also revealed on Friday that it was axing “Alaska Daily” and “The Company You Keep.”
Despite its initial popularity, it’s not all that surprising that “Big Sky” would be on the chopping block. The series’ premiere episode reached 14.7 million total viewers over a 35 day period, making it ABC’s most-watched debut since “The Good Doctor” in 2017. It was also ABC’s highest-rated series debut in the coveted 18-49 demo since the premiere of “A Million Little Things” in 2018.
But as the series has gone on, its ratings have fallen. A show that routinely drew 3.5 million to 4 million live viewers per episode started to see more and more episodes in the 2.2 million range. This decline likely had to do with “Big Sky’s” story arc.

ABC‘s The Company You Keep got off to a blazing start when Charlie Nicoletti and Emma Hill, played by Milo Ventimiglia and Catherine Haena Kim, first locked eyes at a hotel bar. They shared insane chemistry, and their Romeo and Juliet-esque romance hooked us from the beginning. Unfortunately, the following episodes of The Company You Keep felt off, and we no longer feel passionate about Emma and Charlie as a couple in the show.

We’re only six episodes into The Company You Keep, and everyone’s revealing secrets left and right! It’s Charlie’s (Milo Ventimiglia) turn (again) in TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek of the April 2 episode. First, it was Emma (Catherine Haena Kim) revealing to Charlie that she’s CIA. Then, he told her Daphne (Felisha Terrell) was coming for her — and he knew her name because he’s working for her. Emma realized he was the man in the mask, and Charlie warned her that Daphne had dirt on her family and intended to use it. He told her because he loved her, too. Well, it seems like love wasn’t enough for the con man and the CIA officer. In our sneak peek of “The Real Thing,” Charlie’s called a family meeting. What kind is it? As Leo (William Fichtner) deduces by his bottle choice, a “top shelf family meeting.

ABC‘s The Company You Keep surprised us in episode 4 when Charlie learned that his girlfriend Emma wasn’t a data analyst at a logistics firm but a secret CIA agent. Given that he’s a criminal that comes from a family of cons, Charlie wasn’t too thrilled with this new information. And we were shocked that he learned Emma’s secret so early in the show. So it’s only a matter of time before Emma discovers the truth about Charlie, but did that revelation come in The Company You Keep Season 1 Episode 5?

Their patient, who underwent brain surgery, received eight sutures and suffered a small post-op bleed; per Shaun, Jared should have closed with 10 sutures. She stars opposite Milo Ventimiglia of This Is Us fame, and their characters are dating even though they’re hiding significant parts of themselves. And according to Kim, the twists just keep coming until the finale, where everything changes.

The scripting was heavy as American Idol entered its fifth week of Season 21 auditions on Sunday, an episode which ended with a cliffhanger that felt a little too produced for my liking.
Fire Wilmore, a 22-year-old single mother from Oklahoma, was the final contestant of the evening, and the show played her up big time. We got her entire backstory about entering into state custody because of her own mother’s drug problems. We heard how desperately she wants to get out of exotic dancing and give a better future to her daughter. We even watched Fire teach her 4-year-old charmer how wishing wells work.

ABC‘s The Company You Keep is only just getting started, but we’re already sold on Catherine Haena Kim and Milo Ventimiglia’s chemistry. When they’re onscreen together, it’s like magic. But we can never forget Ventimiglia’s previous television partner — the iconic Mandy Moore. Both Kim and Moore have played Ventimiglia’s love interests on television, but they also have another on-set connection.

ABC’s “The Company You Keep,” which marks Emmy nominee Milo Ventimiglia’s first role after ”This Is Us,” is bringing sexy back to network television. The thriller-drama, based on the Korean format “My Fellow Citizens!,” follows a career conman and the CIA officer assigned to his case on a professional and romantic crash course, with plenty of steamy scenes, car chases and betrayals en route.
“There’s crime, there’s romance, there’s caper, there’s heist, there’s chases and a law enforcement element,” Ventimiglia told TheWrap, “but I really think fundamentally, down at the very bottom, you’ve got very relatable people going through this want and desire to connect with somebody and be understood and find love, or partnership or safety, in just being themselves.”
