William Moseley and Johanna Braddy will star in Pencil Town, an inspirational drama directed and executive produced by Jay Silverman that just wrapped production in Los Angeles. Written by Van Billet, the plot is based on a true story about a corporate raider (Moseley) on the verge of making partner at his private equity firm who is forced to return to his small town where he suddenly inherits his father’s nearly bankrupt pencil factory, which is the heart and soul of the depressed community. With foreclosure looming, he must decide whether to join the workers’ fight to save the factory or let it close and relocate to China. Mimi Kennedy, Mary Pat Gleason, Shashawnee Hall, Paul Dooley, Bill Cobbs and James Eckhouse also star. William Newman, Bethany Cerrona and Joe Gamache are producers. Moseley is repped by Apa,...

It’s a sad time to be a live-action Nickelodeon series. Just two weeks after Victorious was canceled after three seasons, Nick has made the decision to not renew Cymphonique Miller’s How To Rock for a second season, sending it to the grave much earlier than any one involved in its creation would have wanted. Including the end of iCarly, this makes three Nick series that won’t be back next year, which makes me rather sad. But it is what it is and there’s no use worrying about it. After all, it’s not as if Nick didn’t have a perfectly good reason for not renewing How To Rock.
According to Deadline, when How To Rock – based on the novel How to Rock Braces and Glasses by Meg Haston – premiered, it pulled a good-sized crowd of 3.3 million viewers. It stayed steady for quite some time, though...

Nickelodeon has decided to cancel their How To Rock TV series. This is the fourth sitcom that the cable channel has announced is ending -- along with Victorious, Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures, and iCarly.
How to Rock revolves around Kacey Simon (Cymphonique Miller), a popular mean girl whose status goes down after she must briefly wear braces and glasses. She's ignored by her friends so Kacey finds a new way to express herself through music. She becomes the lead singer of a pop/hip-hop band. Others in the cast include Samantha Boscarino, Max Schneider, Lulu Antariksa, Halston Sage, Noah Crawford, and Christopher O'Neal.
The show premiered to a very healthy 3.28 million viewers with a 0.55 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The numbers fell over the course of the season and most recently generated 2.1 million in a 0.3 demo rating.

That was fast! It was in December when we wrote about Nickelodeon's efforts to revitalize the network's ratings, by banking heavily on the success of a new musical TV show titled How To Rock, and its chosen star, Cymphonique Miller, a name you might immediately recognize; she's Master P's 15-year old daughter. Will Smith often gets criticized for sheperding his children's careers, but the Master P family is certainly building an entertainment empire of its own. His son, and Cymphonique's older brother Romeo Miller, formely known as Lil Romeo, also headlined his own Nickelodeon series a few years ago, and went on to appear in big screen projects,...

Nickelodeon’s housecleaning continues. Two weeks after the kids cable network cancelled comedy series Victorious after three seasons, it has done the same with freshman How To Rock. This means that three live-action Nick series will end their run this fall, Victorious, How To Rock and iCarly. Like with Victorious, the news of How To Rock‘s demise was delivered by the series’ showrunner on his blog. In a post titled How To Rock The Future, How To Rock executive producer David Israel said that Nickelodeon had opted not to pick up a second season of the show and thanked the show’s cast, crew and fans. The move also follows Nick ordering a slew of new live-action and animated series and pilots, including two iCarly spinoffs, earlier this month as the network appears to be overhauling its lineup amidst a ratings slump. Created by Jim O’Doherty based on...

The Voice’s zaniest coach Cee Lo Green is given to rocking jumpsuits that look like they’re made of Muppets and stroking his stuffed cat Purrfect. Does that make him crazy? Possibly. But when Green showed up for a guest stint on Nick’s How to Rock (airing tonight at 8 p.m. Et), he was surprisingly understated, donning a plain black T-shirt and relatively few flashes of bling. “I’m used to seeing him in big, colorful feathers and all these crazy outfits,” laughs the show’s 15-year-old star Cymphonique Miller, “and he was really down-to-earth with his outfits when he came on set.

Nickelodeon is getting ready to rock. On Saturday, the network will premiere its new show "How to Rock," starring rising teen star Cymphonique Miller. Miller is a familiar face at Nickelodeon, having guest starred on "True Jackson, VP" and "Big Time Rush," but this time she takes on the role as leading lady on the show, which is based on the book "How to Rock Braces and Glasses" by Meg Haston.
Miller plays high school student Kasey Simon (think Rachel McAdams' character in "Mean Girls"), leader of the Perfs, the most popular girls in school. But Miller's character quickly finds herself kicked out of the "cool crowd" after she gets braces and glasses.
But Kasey won't let the "make-under" get her down.

It looks like Master P's children are determined to be stars like their dad.
The rapper's daughter, Cymphonique Miller, will be hitting living rooms everywhere with a new show called "How To Rock," on Nickelodeon and the network is banking on her to turnaround dismal ratings, AllHipHop.com reports.
"We're hoping for great things from Cymphonique-- a big, fat, giant hit," Nickelodeon's president for original programming Margie Cohn said. "That's what I've been working for with this series, so why not say it?"
Miller, 15, is following in the footsteps of her big brother Romeo who also had his own series on the network from 2003 to 2006. She is also mimicking the early success format of stars like Keke Palmer, whose show "True Jackson VP," helped catapult her into the public eye.

Nickelodeon has put in to production Rags, a TV movie starring its star Keke Palmer (True Jackson, VP). Max Schneider will star opposite Palmer in the music-infused modern-day fairy tale, which has began production in Vancouver. This marks a major break for newcomer Schneider, who also has been tapped by Nickelodeon to star opposite Cymphonique Miller in the upcoming live-action comedy series How to Rock. Bille Woodruff (Beauty Shop) will direct Rags, with original music produced by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, who has worked with Lady Gaga and Beyoncé and served as a music producer and mentor on season 10 of American Idol. Rosero McCoy (America’s Best Dance Crew) will serve as the movie’s choreographer. Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon’s President, Development and Original Programming, said the project was brought to the network by long-time Nick collaborator Nick Cannon, who serves as chairman of Teen Nick. "This concept was inspired by...

Exclusive: Nickelodeon has picked up live-action music comedy pilot How To Rock Braces and Glasses to series with a 20-episode order. The show starring 14-year-old singer/actress/dancer Cymphonique Miller will be titled How To Rock. It features original music and centers on a teen girl (Cymphonique) who becomes the lead singer of a pop/hip hop band. Cymphonique's casting in the project stems from a substantial talent development deal Nickelodeon signed with the teen in December 2009. Based on Alloy Entertainment's book How to Rock Braces and Glasses, the series is slated to begin production this summer in Los Angeles for a 2012 premiere. “Cymphonique is an extraordinarily talented 14-year-old who has already established herself as an actress, singer and dancer, while remaining an honor student, and How To Rock is the perfect showcase for her comedic and musical skills," said Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon’s President, Development and Original Programming.
