Pennsylvania's film tax credit program will continue through 2011 under the newly-elected state budget, it has been announced. The program, which helps generate hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, help create thousands of jobs in the state.
Governor Ed Rendell signed the 2009-10 budget into law on October 9, which includes million for the film tax credit and million in 2010-11.
Director of the Pennsylvania Film Office, Jane Saul, said, "Preserving this tax credit is great news for Pennsylvanians who are working now in movie and television production, and it signals our commitment to continue the film tax credit for at least the next two years so we can create more jobs and attract more investments to communities throughout the state."
The film tax credit has helped bring major film producers to the state, including 20th Century Fox. The movie studio's "Unstoppable," starring Denzel Washington, is in north central Pennsylvania for its production.
