Has there ever been a doubt that The Good Wife‘s Kalinda Sharma is a disciple of The Church of Nancy Sinatra?
Her boots — polished leather, knee-high, ridiculously sexy — have always been made for walkin’. And in the Season 6 finale, that’s just what they did… to whatever enigmatic destination her wall safe of cold cash, firearms and fake IDs (c’mon, you know she’s got ’em for at least a dozen jurisdictions) allowed.

The Good Wife returned from its winter hiatus with Eli determined to discover the father of Marilyn’s baby and Alicia and Will going head-to-head in court in “Goliath and David.”
Picking up right where we left off, upon hearing that Marilyn (Melissa George) is planning to name her baby boy Peter, Eli (Alan Cumming) grabs her and forces her out into the hallway to have a private chat. Marilyn says that she isn’t naming her child after Peter Florick (Chris Noth), rather, she’s naming her baby after the child’s father. Needless to say, this does nothing to soothe Eli, who presses her to reveal the identity of her baby daddy. Marilyn refuses, and the two abruptly stop their conversation when Alicia (Julianna Margulies) joins them in the hallway. Despite Marilyn’s insistence that Peter is not the father, Eli decides to determine who is and hires...

The Good Wife, Season 5, Episode 8, “The Next Month”
Written by Ted Humphrey
Directed by Josh Charles
Airs Sundays at 9pm Est on CBS
Since “Hitting the Fan”, The Good Wife’s approach has been a slow, steady, calculated examination of the days, weeks, and now month following the Florrick/Agos defection and the beginning of their rivalry with Lockhart/Gardner (which will never be referred to as “LG” in this space, lest the review be paused for a period of retching). We have watched “The Next Day”, then “The Next Week”, and now “The Next Month” as the characters adjust to their new positions, their new alignments towards former allies, and a whole new game they’re playing. The departure of Alicia in particular from Lockhart/Gardner is a massive event in this show’s history, and it is playing out as such. Things have changed for everyone. Forever. Now...

With the vast array of astoundingly good TV shows currently airing across the television landscape, it is incredibly hard to point a mere Top 10. In an effort to single out what I thought reached the Top 10 for 2011, the following are 10 shows that excelled in writing, casting, characters, cinematography, direction, production and publicity. Interestingly, 4 out of 10 of the shows are British TV shows, which just goes to show that America cannot claim exclusively to be the “best of the best.”
Doctor Who
First and foremost, Doctor Who takes the top crown. No matter what other critics say, it is a remarkable achievement for any TV show to continue to enthral viewers after 48 years – of which it aired over 33 televised seasons in more than 50 countries around the globe. The genius in recasting the lead character every couple of years adds to the renewed interest in fans and the writers in creating new stories; but,...

Every episode of CBS’ riveting political/legal/relationship/family drama The Good Wife ends with more questions than answers — and that’s a good thing. Last night’s season-2 finale, titled “Closing Arguments,” was no different, serving up quite the satisfying end when — Spoiler Alert — the titular Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) finally headed into a hotel room for a little adult-time fun with longtime love interest Will (Josh Charles). While the hook-up was exactly what most viewers wanted to see happen, it brought with it a whole new set of queries: What does Will and Alicia’s new romantic relationship mean for their working relationship?...

In a dazzling set of developments that make the “Foreign Affairs” episode a standout, Alicia finds out about Peter and Kalinda’s fling just as the Florrick family seems to be approaching stability. On a lighter note, the writers have some fun recruiting former Senator and “Law and Order” regular Fred Dalton Thompson to play an actor turned lawyer who throws a Lockhart, Gardner case into chaos.

The "Good Wife" case of the week is fairly boring, though it does let America Ferrera and Ana Gasteyer back into our lives as guest stars, which is always nice. But the big news is the campaign and Alicia finally finding out about "Leela."
Case of the Week
The client, Luis Rios, had a heart attack and has sent his daughter Aida to be at the deposition in his place. The deposition is of Ryan Francis, a bigwig in oil conglomerate Platico Stillman, who did not pay Luis Rios of Latin Star drilling. Platico Stillman maintains Latin Star should not be paid because they were four months late. Will asserts that it's because of the changing political climate in Venezuela. But Natalie Flores, who is interning at the firm, finds a mistranslation in the documents that renders the deal with Luis and Latin Star null and void.

You're not imagining things: This week's The Good Wife serves up the kind of plotline resolution that lesser shows would force us to wait for until the season finale. Peter's election? Check. Peter's second infidelity secret revealed? Double check.
But wait -- there's more! We also get a bittersweet wrap-up of the Natalie Flores story, as the young student gets to show her stuff while working as an L-g intern. And the case she shines on takes the now-classic Tgw style of mixing real political figures into the fictional world to new, humorous extremes.

Tonight’s The Good Wife is so action-packed you’d be forgiven for mistaking the episode for a season finale. Not only is it D-Day for Peter’s campaign, but the cataclysmic Kalinda-Peter bombshell gets dropped on poor Alicia.
Lost amid all the hype is the fact that the can’t-miss hour also marks the conclusion of America Ferrera’s compelling, poignant arc as illegal nanny-turned-object of Eli’s affection Natalie Flores.

As our fearless leader, Matt Richenthal, prepares to take a few weeks of well earned time off, I'll be stepping in to cover The Good Wife on his behalf. I hope I can deliver close to the same level of quality to which you've become accustomed.
A thick layer of uneasiness was draped across "Killer Song," a feeling that never really seemed to fade, despite the few moments of comic relief we had from Mr. Eli Gold.
If the main Lockhart/Gardner case wasn't disturbing enough, the plaintiff was downright chilling (as were the lyrics to his song) in his extreme lack of remorse, flippantly remarking "Oops" when Alicia suggested things would have been smoother for him if he hadn't killed somebody.
Watching him talk to the people around him as if nothing untoward had ever taken place actually unnerved me. I suppose his actions were intended to come off darkly funny,...

After last week's Kalinda-Peter bombshell, what did "The Good Wife" have in store? An incredibly interesting Case of the Week, that's what.
Case of the Week
Jarvis Bowes, a rapist and murderer who was found not guilty by reason of insanity, has been incarcerated in a mental hospital for 30 years. But he now has a psychiatrist claiming he is all better and he gets released by a judge. The firm takes the case of Rhonda Cerone, the daughter of Bowes' victim Mallory, who wants to stop Bowes from profiting off song lyrics he wrote describing the crime, which is .... gross. How is that even .... ugh, nevermind. Of course a rapist and murderer would write a song and it would soar up the charts. Of course that would happen nowadays.
They argue intentional infliction of emotional distress (because they can't argue "being a disgusting human being") and Will says the opposition...

You know that old saying, "The past isn't even past?" For the characters of this week's The Good Wife, that phrase is all too real. From political skullduggery and adultery to murder, plenty of past misdeeds come to light.
Where to begin? Picking up right where we left off last week, we learn more details about Kalinda and Peter's (very brief) affair. Eli gets the chance to revisit -- and possibly rectify -- the Natalie Flores debacle. And, oh yeah -- there's a murderer with a crush on Alicia.

Following this Tuesday's explosive, revelatory episode of The Good Wife, fans can only wonder: now what?!? What will happen next?
With creators Robert and Michelle King admitting that Alicia will learn about Kalinda and Peter's past prior to the season finale, it's only a matter of time before this truth comes out. Might it take place on next week's "Killer Song?"
The episode will bring America Ferrera, as Natalie Flores, back into the picture. Get a look at what's to come via the official CBS preview:

America Ferrera and Jerry Stiller joined "The Good Wife" for a pair of guest-starring roles. We give America a big thumbs up and Jerry a big thumbs down, though it wasn't his fault. It was the character we didn't like.
Case of the Week
Gary Cole is back as Kurt McVeigh. Diane's speechlessness when she spots him is adorable. Kurt is being sued by Jason Beltran, a man freed because of a crime lab mix-up or a frame job, depending on who you ask. He was either involved in a bank robbery where cops were shot or he was an innocent bystander.
Tommy Segara is the attorney for Beltran, who claims the cops framed Beltran and got the crime lab to fabricate evidence and McVeigh to change his testimony. His insistence that Diane not be the pretty face defending them gets her to take the case for McVeigh.
