We might not get to see Nathan Fillion suit up as Green Lantern, Hawkeye, or any of the other comic book characters we keep suggesting him for, but it looks like he'll get a different sort of crossover with the comics world in the near future.
Announced via press release today, Marvel Entertainment and ABC Studios are partnering to publish a graphic novel based on "Castle," the hit television series in which Fillion plays celebrated mystery author Richard Castle. The graphic novel will be titled "Castle: Richard Castle’s Deadly Storm," and feature the protagonist of Richard Castle's novels, Derrick Storm.
And while that might be an appealing prospect to "Castle" fans (and Nathan Fillion fans), comic fans should note the pedigree of the project's creative team, too. Veteran writer Brian Michael Bendis will co-script the book with Kelly Sue DeConnick ("Captain America And The Secret Avengers"), while...

Music Sales Up Thanks To Hipsters, Old People
Nielson released a piracy apocalypse-busting stat about the music industry: Sales are up 1.6% in 2011. Premium content, such as the Beatles' albums, and a 37% surge in vinyl (thank your local hipster, everybody), helped propel a trend for a sector that hasn't always had much to celebrate lately. Rock is still the most popular genre at 32% of sales, and pop (not surprisingly) takes home 40% of digital tracks--it's called "pop" for a reason. Now if Comcast would only unblock the Pirate Bay...

Quick, someone tell all my children to alert General Hospital, because ABC’s Castle is plotting a super-soapy wink-wink to Nathan Fillion’s daytime roots by slaying a daytime-tv scribe.
In an episode titled — wait for it — “One Life to Lose,” Beckett and Castle will delve into the murder of a soap opera scribe, TVLine has learned exclusively. As they work the case, watch for multiple stars from ABC’s own sudsers to make appearances (though probably not as themselves but fictional thespians).

When I first reviewed Castle, and it was a spring premiere, I had my doubts that the show would make it to the point that I would be telling you about the second season DVD, and had mixed feelings about whether or not I wanted it to get that far. Debuting about the same time as ABC‘s The Unusuals, I knew that at most one of them was going to get the chance to live to the fall, and frankly, Castle wasn’t the one I wanted.
It was a tough choice, especially given that they were both such quirky shows, but the Nathan Fillion vehicle amassed a solid following very quickly, and has been delivering solid episodes ever since. Now a few episodes into a surprisingly creative third season, Castle doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.

The most Beckett, Ryan and Esposito have seen of Castle is a bookstore standee of him advertising an upcoming book signing. Castle has a lot to live up to after the way ABC has been promoting the two-part "event" that finds Beckett, Castle, and Federal Agent Jordan Shaw (guest star Dana Delany) chasing a serial killer who's obsessed with Nikki Heat. Last night, Part 1 did. Just as Castle got word that Heat Wave had been optioned for a film — James McAvoy would make a great Kevin Ryan — Beckett got a phone call from a man reporting a murder. One that he'd committed. They traced the call to Grand Central Station, where they found a dead man in a phone booth. Five shots to the chest.

The last new episode of Castle for 2009 will be airing on December 7th (don't worry, it returns early in January). Mark Blucas (of Buffy fame) will be making a guest appearance. I love how the ABC showrunners keep making references to former Whedon shows and characters. Check out the three sneak peeks below and then take a look at the promo photos I posted previously.

Castle is all new tonight (check out sneak peeks and promo photos), then breaks for a week and is back with an all new episode on December 7th before it goes on hiatus for the holidays (I think).
Buffy fans will notice a familiar face among the promo photos below. The much-hated Riley (Marc Blucas) is present and accounted for as a guest star. Yeah, I hated Riley too, but mostly because he turned Buffy into such a bitcha and not necessarily because I was a B/A 'shipper (although I vastly preferred that relationship to the others they kept trying to get me to like). But all that aside, I don't hate Blucas and I'm hoping I'll like his character more on Castle than I ever did on Buffy.
