The rapper Prodigy, half of the hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, has died in Las Vegas, multiple sources confirm. He was 42 years old.
“It is with extreme sadness and disbelief that we confirm the death of our dear friend Albert Johnson, better known to millions of fans as Prodigy of legendary N.Y. rap duo Mobb Deep,” a Mobb Deep representative wrote in a statement to Xxl.
“Prodigy was hospitalized a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis. As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth.

The countdown has begun. Tickets for the 2013 Coachella Music Festival officially go on sale Tuesday, January 29 at 10 a.m. Pst on the Coachella website.
The festival will be broken up into two identical weekends like it was last year. Weekend 1 runs April 12-14 and Weekend 2 is April 19-21. While many took to the internet to complain about this year's lineup, there is no doubt that tickets will go fast on Tuesday. Last year's passes sold out online in less than two hours.

Weekend 1 General Admission passes already sold out in the advance sale, however, those who are still vying for Weekend 1 passes can purchase them Tuesday when tickets go on sale -- but must do so in either a car camping package or a shuttle pass package. General Admission Weekend 2 passes will be available Tuesday starting at 10 a.m. Pst.

The song inspired by last year's riots has now become a film. Plan B, aka Ben Drew, explains why he was driven to make it
At times, when he's talking about iLL Manors, the film that he has written and directed, Ben Drew, aka multiplatinum-selling rapper and singer Plan B, is almost spitting. Not spitting as in the street parlance for rapping, but literally spitting; such is his impassioned, forceful, expletive-peppered delivery as he talks about society's failure to tackle and nurture its disadvantaged youth. "This film is me talking about this shit that I'm also talking about in my music and as a human being. Stuff I think we need to address; we need to understand why these fucked-up things happen, so that we can educate ourselves going forward and try to prevent them from happening again, you know what I'm saying?
"A lot of people outside this environment don't believe it exists,...

The 2012 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival just wrapped up the first of two weekends packed with dozens of live performances from a stellar lineup, and much of the Monday (April 16) morning buzz has been focused on the spectacular array of guest performances from Tupac Shakur (yes, really), Rihanna, Usher, Eminem and more.
Hologram Tupac certainly was the most memorable guest appearance of the weekend, but Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre also brought out some other huge names to compliment their closing night set on the main stage: 50 Cent, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa and Kendrick Lamar.
On Saturday, Usher joined David Guetta on the Sahara Stage for "Without You." On the same stage the following night, the Calvin Harris audience was ecstatic when Rihanna appeared to perform "We Found Love" and "Where Have You Been."
Other talked-about Coachella guest performances included Tyler the Creator joining his Odd Future bandmate Frank Ocean's...
