Right now, I'm disturbed by a hubbub outside the window. A whopping great tractor is trying and failing to park in a cul-de-sac just over the road. No great surprise about that in theory – except that I've seen bigger cul-de-sacs in Trumpton. Tractor guy's already getting grief from a couple of creaky old codgers waving their fists aloft like he's just threatened to crush their cottages to rubble with his clunky vehicle.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte has revealed that she struggles to balance work and her pregnancy. Ellen DeGeneres's debut on American Idol brought in 726k (2.9%) to ITV2 in the 8pm hour last Wednesday (February 10), according to early figures. The ratings helped make Idol the top-rated multichannel programme of the day. Law & Order: UK continues to perform well for ITV1, overnight ratings figures suggest. The crime drama - starring Bradley Walsh and Jamie Bamber - pulled in 5.77m (25.2%) last night, holding a steady audience since its debut three weeks ago. Its nearest competitor, Rogue Traders, drew 4.56m (19.9%) for BBC One at 9pm. The latest episode of Heroes logged 1.62m (7%) for BBC Two, while Channel 4's Cutting Edge film Scams, Fiddles And Honest Claims managed 1.44m (6.3%). Five's Extreme Fishing With Robson Green came last during the 9pm hour, pulling in 1.19m (5.2%). Channel 4's Dispatches, which looked at Pakistan's Taliban generation, took a lowly 810k (3.45) at 8pm. Channel 4's new drama series Red Riding made an a decent - but unspectacular - start last night, early figures suggest. The first episode of the trilogy, which chronicles the legacy of the Yorkshire Ripper murders, averaged 2.45m (12.2%) for Channel 4 between 9pm and 11.15pm. Billy Connolly: Journey To The Edge Of The World continued to perform well for ITV1, with the third episode pulling in 4.09m (17.8%) during the 9pm hour. It was just ahead of BBC One's New Tricks, which logged 4.03m (17.5%). 1.66m (7.2%) tuned in to watch the first episode of Darwin's Dangerous Idea on BBC Two, while Five's urban documentary series Soho Blues logged 959k (4.2%), putting the channel in last place in the timeslot. A new travelogue series hosted by Billy Connolly had a strong start last night (Thursday), winning the 9pm slot for ITV1. Billy Connolly: Journey To The Edge Of The World, a four-part series that sees the comedian undertake an epic trip across Canada, opened to 4.74m (20.2%), lifting the channel's ratings by 1.4m week-on-week. BBC One was second for the hour with 4.01m (17.1%) for a New Tricks repeat, while BBC Two's Natural World - this week about the 6ft Cassowary birds of Australia - interested 1.74m (7.4%). Rogue Traders singer, former Neighbours star and So You Think You Can Dance host Natalie Bassingthwaighte has made the jump to cinema in the new film Prey. The Australian production will have its premiere in exclusive invitation only events in Melbourne and Sydney this coming May. The film tells the story of six friends who venture into the outback on a 4Wd tour and end up in a sacred Aboriginal site. Unwittingly they revive a 5000 year old curse which turns their holiday into a violent nightmare. Prey will have a limited release in Australia before releasing on DVD, followed by a selected cinema release in the U.

Former Neighbours star Natalie Bassingthwaighte has announced that she has completed work on her debut solo album. The actress concentrated on her commitments with Rogue Traders after leaving her role as Izzy Hoyland on the Aussie soap in 2006, but she decided to quit as the electro pop band's lead singer earlier this year.
