Exclusive: Paramount has landed Intruders, a script by Armored screenwriter James V. Simpson that is best described as an alien home invasion thriller. The concept is inspired by Close Encounters of the Third Kind and the “Kelly-Hopkinsville encounter," in which a Kentucky family claimed to have survived an all-night alien home-invasion attempt. Chicago – The basic moral message of “Armored” is simple: Don’t get partnered with sociopathic lunatics especially when they’re given guns and armored cars as a part of their job. This defiantly old-fashioned B-movie wasn’t screened for critics and was dismissed by audiences around the last holiday season but more than gets the job done as an entertaining rental on its own terms.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.0/5.0
The final act gets incredibly sloppy with plot holes and ridiculous behavior but the set-up for “Armored” is clever and the bulk of the film is simple enough that it more than satisfies as a reasonable action-driven diversion, which is sometimes all you need on a Friday night, “Armored” doesn’t break any rules. In fact, it could have been made in the ’70s or ’80s with similar B-list stars and come out largely the same way, but there’s something nearly comforting...

Fifty-one minutes. That's all the time they have to steal forty-two million dollars. A fool proof plan -- except that fool proof plans rarely are. In the film "Armored," six armored truck drivers attempt to fake their own hijacking, until things go wrong. Very wrong. And six lives are changed forever. As past heist-gone-wrong movies have played out, Armored (2009) involves five veteran drivers who try to convince rookie Ty Hackett, played by Columbus Short, to join them in a plot to rob their own company. Hackett, a young Gulf War veteran who's shell-shocked and short on money, faces the usual good vs. evil dilemma and engages in a game of mental ping-pong to see which side will win. He ultimately decides to go along with the bad guys, after they promise that no one gets hurt. When the plan goes awry and takes a violent turn, Ty must make another decision -- stay,...

Chicago – Meeting with Columbus Short is encountering a true force of nature. Focused, intent and with a varied perspective, this up-and-coming young actor and performer has the centerpiece role in the new film, “Armored.”
Columbus plays Ty Hackett, an Iraq War veteran who takes a job with an armored car company to care for his 14 year-old brother after their parents die. After going through initial training, an obsessive co-worker reveals a surefire way to stage a robbery and split the cash among all the participants.
Ty is initially reluctant to join in, but the financial pressures eventually allow him to relent. The pick-up of the cash goes smoothly, but an unexpected interruption throws the operation into a tailspin. What happens next becomes more than the money, and has implications that will change everyone involved.

Screen Gems have released the first trailer for "Armored". Posted exclusively at Apple, the first look into the heist thriller opens with a shot of a bank's vault being pushed open by a security guard. Then, the footage moves forth showing two guards securing the money into their armored vehicle and driving to their destination.
Along the way, they experience problem with the car. When the car goes into a halt, a black van rushes in and masked men jump out from the van to plant what seems to be a bomb on the armored car, leading one of the guards, Ty, hysterically trying to cover himself up from the impending blast. But, as the footage continues, it is apparent that the heist is only a hoax, designed by some of the guards in preparation for the real deal later on.

On the eve of his English-language debut Vacancy, Nimrod Antal has signed on to helm another Screen Gems thriller, Armored.
Based on a screenplay by James V. Simpson, the story centers on a young armored car guard who is persuaded by his veteran cohorts to empty the truck of its $10 million haul.
Although Screen Gems is eyeing a fall start date, it is unclear whether Armored will be Antal's next project.
The film will be produced by Buckaroo Entertainment partners Sam Raimi and Josh Donen and Dan Farah of Farah Films & Management.
Screen Gems topper Clint Culpepper and exec Eric Paquette will oversee the project.
Antal, who directed the critically acclaimed Hungarian film Kontroll, most recently directed the Kate Beckinsale-Luke Wilson starrer Vacancy, which opens Friday.
He is repped by CAA and attorney Warren Dern.
