X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, is moving heavily into original entertainment with a multi-show slate deal with Range Media Partners.
The first show as part of the deal with the Elon Musk-owned platform will be hosted by sports host Jim Rome.
It comes after the platform announced that former CNN host Don Lemon would also be hosting a show on the platform.
Rome, the host of The Jim Rome Show, the longest running, nationally syndicated long-form sports talk program in America, will launch a digital video show airing throughout the year on X starting after the Super Bowl.
The deal will see Musk’s company and Range develop and produce at least 10 shows, across various genres and formats.

Linda Yaccarino, on her 101st day as CEO of Elon Musk’s X (aka Twitter), announced several new hires and organizational changes at the social network.
New hires include Brett Weitz, who was general manager of Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT, TBS and truTV, who joins X as the new head of content, talent and brand sales. Weitz exited Wbd in the spring of 2022.
Monique Pintarelli, a former Turner sales exec who most recently was president at digital advertising company Teads, was named X/Twitter’s head of the Americas, overseeing sales and partnerships across the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
In addition, Yaccarino — who left as head of sales at NBCUniversal this year to take the CEO job at X/Twitter — recruited Carrie Stimmel, previously chief growth officer at NBCU, as global agency leader. And Rob Hayes, once NBC Entertainment’s EVP of digital media who most recently...

As she continues to build her team, she just announced four hires of executives she had worked with at Turner or NBCUniversal, bringing more Hollywood experience to the tech company headed by Elon Musk.
Brett Weitz, former General Manager Of TNT, TBS & truTV, has been named Head of Content, Talent and Brand Sales. Fellow Turner alum Monique Pintarelli has joined as Head of the Americas, overseeing Sales and Partnerships across the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of X (formerly Twitter) has unveiled a new leadership and sales team at the social platform, including a number of executives familiar to the media and entertainment business.
Among the new hires is Brett Weitz, the veteran TV executive who was most recently general manager of the Warner Bros. Discovery channels TNT, TBS, and truTV. Weitz left the company last year following the WarnerMedia-Discovery merger, after working at the company for 14 years.
At X/Twitter, Weitz will be head of content, talent, and brand sales.

If you’ve ever wanted to watch horny vampire classic “True Blood” without any of the sex scenes for some reason, TNT has got you covered. The Warner Bros. Discovery-owned channel will begin airing reruns of the HBO series starting this Saturday; simultaneously, the HBO comedy “Silicon Valley” will also begin airing in syndication on TBS.
Both shows will be edited for these new broadcast runs on Warner Bros. Discovery’s T-Net channels, in order to fit in ad breaks and to conform to the standard TV-ma rating. For “True Blood,” that presumably means a lot of the show’s nudity is getting cut, while the average “Silicon Valley” episode is about to have a ton of naughty words bleeped out. Both shows will debut on their respective cable channels after coverage of the NBA All-Star game, before “True Blood” moves to 10 p.m. on Mondays and “Silicon Valley” moves to 10 p.

There are hardly any other networks that have undergone more disruption over the past nine months than Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNT and TBS have post-merger — and it’s not over.
The TNets just saw their major January series premieres — previously announced and already promoted — scrapped at the last minute. That includes Season 4 of TBS’ Miracle Workers, which had been slated to open January 16; Season 2 of the network’s unscripted series The Cube, which had been slotted for a January 8 debut; as well as TNT’s acquired British drama The Lazarus Project, which had been teed up for a January 23 launch. The Boy Who Lived evidently survived the apocalypse. TBS released the official trailer for the fourth season of its “Miracle Workers” anthology on Tuesday, showing “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe leading a sitcom-riff on the “Mad Max” franchise.
Created by Simon Rich, previously known for the Fxx series “Man Seeking Woman,” “Miracle Workers” is a comedy anthology series, with each season telling a new story with the same cast playing different characters. Along with Radcliffe, each season features Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan, Karan Soni, and Jon Bass in the main cast.
Season 1 was set in the modern day, focusing on a pair of angels attempting to avert Earth’s destruction, while Seasons 2 and 3 were period pieces set in the English Dark Ages and the American Oregon Trail, respectively. For the fourth season, the show heads to the future, with Radcliffe portraying a warrior navigating a post-apocalyptic wasteland. When he encounters a warlord (Viswanathan), sparks fly,...

Exclusive: There probably has been no other division of WarnerMedia more impacted by the Discovery merger than the TNets, which consist of TNT, TBS and TruTV. In the span of a couple of months after the transaction was completed, they got new leadership, with Discovery’s Kathleen Finch adding them to her portfolio, while the previous toppers exited: General Manager Brett Weitz, SVP Original Programming Adrienne O’Riain, and unscripted chief Corie Henson.
The new owners quickly scrapped or ended scripted series such as Chad, Snowpiercer and Kill the Orange Bear, cut a number of unscripted series such as the already completed The Big D, and let go a number of big-ticket development.
As the dust has started to settle, Finch, Chairman and Chief Content Officer, US Networks Group, Warner Bros. Discovery, recently made an outreach to talent agencies and producers, laying out her plans for what original programming on the...

What led to TBS’ decision to pull the plug on “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” after seven seasons? An unlucky mix of low ratings, the shifting political climate post-Trump, a shakeup in comedy after the Warner Bros’ merger with Discovery — and lingering fallout from her Ivanka Trump incident of 2018. The death of the show, which frequently took shots at the Trumps and the Supreme Court, was skewered by conservatives like Glenn Greenwald who dismissed “Full Frontal” as “a feminist legacy as trivial and inconsequential as it was failed and pointless.” Also Read: ‘Full Frontal With Samantha Bee’ Canceled at TBS After 7 Seasons Well that’s unkind, but late night has arguably never been a welcoming environment for women: Joan Rivers, who became the first woman to host a late-night talk show in 1986, had a one-year run before seeing the show taken over by a man. TBS has canceled its late night show Full Frontal With Samantha Bee in the latest pullback from original programming at the cable outlet.
The Emmy-winning late night series is finished after seven seasons, with the last installment having aired on June 23.
“Samantha Bee is honored to have hosted the Emmy Award-winning series Full Frontal With Samantha Bee on TBS for seven seasons, but the show will not return to the network this fall,” a statement from Bee’s reps reads. “Bee made television history in the late night space, paving the way for female voices in what has traditionally been, and continues to be a male dominated landscape. Full Frontal with Samantha Bee consistently broke barriers with Sam and her team boldly using political satire to entertain, inform and empower viewers, while embracing critically underrepresented stories, particularly about women.”

Nasim Pedrad’s “Chad” was pulled from TBS’ programming hours before Season 2 of the comedy series was set to air on July 11, a spokesperson for the network confirmed to Variety.
According to the spokesperson, TBS is now looking for “the right home” for the series. As the news comes the day the premiere was scheduled, and a trailer has already been released, it’s clear that at least a significant portion, if not the entire season, has been shot and produced.
The pulling of “Chad” signals the continued demise of scripted content at TBS and TNT. Exclusive: Corie Henson, who runs unscripted for the Turner networks, is leaving the broadcaster. Deadline understands that Henson has decided to exit Warner Bros Discovery as the newly merged company figures out how it will bring together its various unscripted teams.
Henson, who is EVP, Head of Unscripted for TBS, TNT and truTV, joined the company in 2019 from Fox, where she was EVP Alternative Entertainment.
We hear that she will stay in the role for a transition period. The networks are now run by Nancy Daniels, who took on the role of overseeing the T-Nets in addition to Discovery Channel, Animal Planet and Science Channel.
Deadline understands that she decided to exit now, rather than stay on and figure out what her future role might be. This comes as she essentially ran her own business unit under Brett Weitz, who left in May.

In a memo obtained by Variety on Thursday, Warner Bros. Discovery’s head of Hr Adria Alpert Romm reiterated to staffers that they’d be required to work from the office three days per week beginning June 1.
Discovery’s acquisition of WarnerMedia was completed on April 8. On April 26, Deadline reported the company’s first memo mentioning the 3-day requirement — which was unpopular among staffers, especially due to the late notice.
Thursday’s memo did not address this backlash explicitly, though the company does claim to “recognize this is a period of transition and will require some adjustment” for employees that are not already working in the office. Romm also emphasized the “significant advantages to being together” including the “great news” that the on-site facilities including fitness and child care centers have reopened and that employees would be offered free lunch during their first week back.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s TNets — the arm formerly known as Turner — is parting ways with the SAG Awards after 25 years.
TNT has run the SAG Awards since 1998, including this year, when the Screen Actors Guild returned to a live, in-person event and moved to Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar (after being based at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall since 1997). NBC aired the first three years of the SAG Awards, which launched in 1995. TNT took over in 1998, and then TBS made it a simulcast in 2007.
“SAG Awards is engaged in discussions with Warner Bros. Discovery as well as other networks and streamers regarding the broadcast rights to the show,” SAG-AFTRA has posted in a statement. “While the TNT network has advised us that they do not expect to conclude a new licensing agreement with the SAG Awards prior to the expiration of the exclusive negotiating window, we are exploring multiple other options.

Ahead of tomorrow’s expected close of the 43 billion WarnerMedia-Discovery merger, the executive leadership structure of the new company has been set.
David Zaslav, CEO of Discovery since 2007, will hold the same title at the combined entity. He has installed J-b Perrette to oversee streaming (in a larger version of the role he had at Discovery), while veteran unscripted programming exec Kathleen Finch will supervise all linear networks. Toby Emmerich, Casey Bloys and Channing Dungey, heads of Warner Bros Pictures, HBO and Warner Bros TV, respectively are all remaining in place. Bruce Campbell, the top distribution exec at Discovery (a crucial function given the billions in carriage fees and complex streaming deals in his purview) has been given a similar job at the new company.
The elevation of Finch, a Scripps Networks Interactive veteran and former network news producer who joined Discovery after the company bought Scripps in 2018, had been widely anticipated.

As Discovery and WarnerMedia are set to close their 43B merger later this week, the attention has been focused mainly on the deal’s ramifications for WarnerMedia’s movie and scripted television businesses. There’s been much industry chatter about the importance of Casey Bloys’ scripted television empire and whether Toby Emmerich continues to oversee The Batman film studio.
The pair, alongside Warner Bros. TV boss Channing Dungey, are expected to report directly to David Zaslav under the company’s new structure, which is set to be unveiled shortly.
However, as high-profile these areas are, they also are additive to Discovery’s business, which is only peripherally involved in scripted TV via the company’s venture with Oprah Winfrey OWN. Meanwhile, it is unscripted television where the two merging companies have the biggest overlap and where combining the assets will require consolidation.

Exclusive: Ahead of American Dad!’s Season 17 premiere, TBS has renewed the hit animated comedy series for two more seasons, 18 and 19. Series co-creator/executive producer Matt Weitzman and executive producer Brian Boyle have signed new deals to continue as showrunners. Season 17th season of American Dad!, from 20th Television Animation, premieres Jan. 24, on TBS.
“American Dad! is reaching rarified air with 18th and 19th season pickups that only a handful of shows have ever accomplished; this speaks to the zeitgeisty humor that resonates with audiences, and to the dedication of its creators and brilliant TBS network executives,” said Adrienne O’Riain and Sam Linsky, Co-Heads of Scripted Programming, TBS, TNT, truTV.
The series, which was picked up by TBS following its cancellation by Fox, has been a cornerstone of the TNet’s animation strategy, with a slew of new projects in the pipeline. It currently ranks as the #3 comedy on cable.

The end of Claws is here.
The highly-anticipated fourth and final season of TNT's unapologetically bold series will premiere on Sunday, December 26 at 9:00pm Et/Pt, it was announced today at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Summer Press Tour.
News of the final season premiere date comes over two years since Claws Season 3 wrapped.
The third season of "Claws" ranked as a top 10 cable drama in 2019.
The longer-than-usual wait between seasons is due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which brought production to a grinding halt last year.
TNT has announced an early sneak of the final season's first episode will air on December 17th during TBS' weekly talk show series, Friday Night Vibes, hosted by Tiffany Haddish with co-host Deon Cole.
As longtime fans of Claws, Haddish and Cole will catch up with the cast as they take a trip down memory lane sharing their favorite moments from the first three seasons.

The 2021-2022 TV season officially kicked off Monday, with a new season of “Dancing with the Stars” on ABC, the return of comedies, “NCIS” and the new “NCIS Hawai’i” on CBS, NBC’s new season of “The Voice” and the premiere of drama “Ordinary Joe,” and Fox’s new season bow of “9-1-1” and the launch of freshman drama “The Big Leap.”
Of all those shows, just one made it to a 1.0 rating with adults 18-49: “The Voice.” NBC won the night with a 0.9 rating. But of course, this isn’t news anymore, the massive live+same day ratings erosion has been years in the making, as audience habits change and more competitors flood the marketplace, all competing for viewer eyeballs. “Fall TV” isn’t the end-all, be-all of the television business that it once was, but nonetheless, it’s still a good time as a natural signpost to take the industry temperature.
