Evanescence singer Amy Lee just scored One Million Bucks in a lawsuit ... but there's a catch. First, the backstory: 110 Management Inc. sued Amy last year for unpaid commissions and fees. 110 originally sought $1.5 mil from the singer, and eventually lowered the demand to $335k. An arbitrator finally ruled the management co. was only owed only $4,863.66. Fast-forward to 2017 ... Amy fought to get 110 to pay her lawyer fees for drawn out legal battle. The judge agreed she got screwed,...

Many of YouTube's gaming channels tend to be aggressive or abrasive, but Amy Lee's is not one of them. Lee's AmyLee33 hub is home to her cheerful, positive Let's Play videos, the most popular of which take place in the worlds of Minecraft, The Sims, and Roblox. Lee's family-friendly tone has attracted a wide audience, and has led to off-YouTube opportunities such as book deals. She celebrated one million subscribers as many others do: With a "Draw My Life" video.
Tubefilter: How does it feel to have one million subscribers? What do you have to say to your fans?
AmyLee33: It feels incredible! Thank you all so much for supporting my channel!
Tf: What drew you to Minecraft in the first place?
Al: My niece made me download the game, I soon became addicted myself!
Tf: With so much Minecraft-related content on YouTube, what would you say makes your channel distinct?...

“To celebrate its 10th anniversary, I was recently listening to and reading up on Evanescence’s album The Open Door. Looking at her process, I came to the conclusion the band’s frontwoman, Amy Lee, could make some great movie scores if she wanted to. My question is: Which musical artist (that hasn’t already done so) do you think would make a great film composer?”

Poldark's Josh Whitehouse is set to headline a new take on Valley Girl, that originally starred Nicolas Cage.
And so 2017 kicks off with an early remake story, this time concerning the 1983 musical, Valley Girl. The original featured Nicolas Cage and Deborah Foreman, neither of whom are near the new version it seems. Instead, Poldark star Josh Whitehouse has nabbed the lead this time around, playing the punk rock musician who falls for a girl who’s not so punk-rocky.
Jessica Rothe is his co-star in the new film, that Amy Lee Talkington and Marti Noxon have penned the screenplay for. Behind the camera this time is Rachel Lee Goldenberg, and the plan is for filming to begin in the first half of the year. Expect, we’d imagine, a release date sometime in 2018. Nicolas Cage will have knocked out half a dozen new movies by then,...

The band is on stage this week for "American Idol." Do you suppose it's because so many singers have had some trouble with the band? Hmm.
Anyway, we have to sit through a group performance that is on par with every other group performance this show has ever done, complete with many of them looking like they are lip syncing.
The theme tonight is "rock royalty," so that'll be interesting.
1. Alex Preston, "Don't Speak," No Doubt
Awesome choice. Preston is maybe the best song-chooser of the group because he hasn't made a misstep yet. Now, as far as this one goes, we're not in love with the reggae feel of the song, but we do like his tiny scat sections (though the last note is messy). It doesn't have us jumping up and down with excitement, but he's solid and knows who he is as an artist. Some week, though,...

Tonight's them is (I'm With The) Band. I have no clue what that means. Fox not-so-helpfully explains that the singers "will act as the lead singer for Rickey Minor and his band, performing their favorite songs." How is that different from what happens every week? Or does it just mean that Minor won't actively attempt to sabotage the performers like he's been doing all season long? Sigh. Click through and follow along with the fun. 8:00 p.m. Et. Everybody loves the judges, doncha know? Mostly J-Lo. Her fashion performances this season have been more interesting than anything done by most of the contestants. 8:03 p.m. Ah. The band is going to be on-stage. J-Lo has regrets about losing M.K. last week. Harry Connick Jr. says that the decision to use the Save is a spontaneous thing. 8:04 p.m. To kill time, we're experiencing the quality time...

Every once in awhile I'll see someone post on Facebook about the new "Maleficent" movie with a comment amounting to "Omg Looks So Good" or "Love. I Can't Even." Here's the thing: I can even. I'm as gripped as anyone by Angelina Jolie's meringue-like cheekbones and Elle Fanning's china doll emotions, but I can't be sure we're in the presence of an awesome spectacle yet, even in exclusively campy terms. Something about "Maleficent" seems like the drama club president cousin to "Oz: The Great and Powerful," which was star-studded but deeply dull. I'll try to keep my hopes up, but I also have these ten questions that require answers. 1. Can a movie be creepy when every frame of animation is so pristine? There is a "just so" quality about the coloring, animation, and detail in this trailer; nothing feels even slightly out of control, and I wonder if...

It's back! MTV's third annual Musical March Madness tips off today (March 12), pitting the 64 bands that matter most against each other in a bracket-battle to the death (Ok, no one actually dies, but we're rolling here). And like in previous years, your votes determine who advances on — and who will ultimately hoist the big gold trophy when the tournament ends April 3.
Can Green Day repeat as Mmm champs? Will perennial powerhouses My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars and Paramore finally make it to the top of the mountain? Or will 2012 bring us another unheralded winner, a la Coheed and Cambria in 2010? All of these questions — and more — will be answered in the coming weeks, as the drama and majesty that is Musical March Madness plays out before our very eyes.

"The Interrupters," a film about former criminals working to stop violence in Chicago, was named best documentary at the Film Independent Spirit Awards Saturday night.
Filmmakers Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz followed the violence interrupters working for Chicago's CeaseFire, an organization founded by Dr. Gary Slutkin. Slutkin believed that violence should be treated like a disease -- and the organization has managed to reduce shootings and killings by 41 to 73 percent, according to an independent evaluation by the Department of Justice.
James' widely acclaimed documentary "Hoop Dreams" was snubbed by the Oscars in 1994, and many were shocked to see the same thing happen with "The Interrupters." But the Independent Spirit Award for "Best Documentary," as Roger Ebert notes, is "no less significant."
“It's really great to win this award and win it the day before the Oscars,” James told the Chicago Tribune after winning the Spirit award Saturday. “It's a great...

“My Heart Is Broken,” the new single from Evanescence's self-titled album was inspired by victims of human trafficking. However if that notion is to be gleaned from the video, its inclusion is very subtle. In the new clip, lead singer Amy Lee is clad in an evening gown and she has incredible magic fingers with balls that spew white light. She can gaze into the white light and she can even use her finger tips to swirl around in the darkness an leave cool trails in the dark, like the sparklers we used to light on the Fourth of July. Brand-new clip finds the band trapped within a nightmare of its own invention.

After nearly a month spent touting its various ethereal qualities, on Tuesday (January 24), Evanescence premiered their video for "My Heart Is Broken," a dark, dreamlike thing that pushes Amy Lee's claustrophobic musings to the next level. And somewhere beyond that too.
As Lee told MTV News back in December, the look and feel of the "Broken" clip was very much influenced by the British fantasy/horror flick "Paperhouse," about a young girl who creates vivid dream worlds to escape the harsh reality of everyday life, only to eventually realize she's stuck in those dreams — inspiration that certainly resonates with the song's lyrics, which are very much about being trapped in a dark, desolate place and...

Amy Lee is the last original member still standing in the turgid goth-metal outfit Evanescence, and it’s just as well: Once she unfurls her overbearingly operatic voice, there’s scant room for anybody else. Bellowing like a vampire princess that’s been hurled into the bottomless reaches of hell, Lee specializes in mid-tempo, melodramatic, melismatic, heavy riffing balladry that manages the singular feat of sounding ridiculous and joyless simultaneously. Backed by a new batch of faceless, lurching, and seriously soul-patchin’ bros, Lee revives the Evanescence name for this self-titled release, the band’s first in five years. As unwelcome ...

Amy Lee and Evanescence will be back in a familiar place next week with their first album in five years. Evanescence's self-titled effort will hit #1 on the Billboard 200 on sales of 127,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. While impressive, the sales were less than half of what the band's 2006 sophomore album, The Open Door, sold (447,000) in its first week in 2006.
Hard rockers Five Finger Death Punch lock down the #3 slot with American Capitalist (91,000), easily besting "American Idol" runner-up Lauren Alaina, whose Wildflower hits the chart at #5 on sales of 69,000.
Also debuting in the top 10 are Ryan Adams' 13th effort, Ashes & Fire, which sold 49,000 copies, and country star Martina McBride, whose Eleven sneaks in at #10 (40,000).

On Wednesday (October 19), Evanescence officially completed their comeback when it was announced that their self-titled third album would top next week's Billboard albums chart, with sales of more than 127,000 copies.
It's the band's second-consecutive #1 debut: As any Ev fan surely knows, their last was five years ago, when The Open Door bowed atop the charts in 2006.
And in the time since, they've shed members, gone on a hiatus and, as frontwoman Amy Lee told MTV News, very nearly called it quits entirely.
So you can certainly understand why Lee and her bandmates are feeling so happy today. In an e-mail to MTV News, the singer decided to share a bit of that happiness with us and with Evanescence's fanbase.
