It's fair to say that Padmé Amidala is one of the "Star Wars" saga's most underappreciated characters. She played something of a thankless role throughout the prequel trilogy; while she's probably known best as Anakin Skywalker's romantic foil, she was so much more in the grand scheme.
Much ink has been spilled on Padmé's importance to the Galactic Republic, especially in "Episode II — Attack of the Clones." It's her fierce independence and general aversion to authority that made her such a threat to then-chancellor Palpatine. Most of his dastardly plans include efforts to remove Padmé entirely from the equation, either through the invasion of Naboo in "The Phantom Menace," or through a handful of assassination attempts.
Fortunately, Padmé managed to stick around longer than anyone expected her to. Her presence was a welcome challenge to the tyranny of the fledgling Empire, but also to the prequels' overwhelmingly male ensemble.

When it comes to tabletop roleplaying games, Dungeons & Dragons is the biggest name in the industry. Much of the franchise’s success can be attributed to its rich settings and lore that provide an engaging backdrop for the adventures embarked on by players and storytellers alike.
For decades, the Forgotten Realms have reigned as a fixture of pop culture. The setting has not just captivated audiences at the gaming table but reached beyond to leave its mark on novels, video games, shows, and more. This sprawling landscape with no shortage of dragons or dungeons for them to inhabit has managed to secure its place as one of the most beloved settings in the genre. But what makes it so special? What gives it that timeless appeal that keeps players coming back for more?

Magic, sorcery, demons, fairytale creatures, swordplay, and much more permeates The Demon Wars Saga, another creation of noted author R.A. Salvatore that’s both masterful in its delivery and addictive since each book will easily keep a person flipping the pages to see what comes next. Spanning across seven books, the story takes the reader through a tale that begins with a young boy, Elbryan Wyndon, and his friend Jilseponie, who survive an attack on their home of Dundalis after it’s sacked by monstrous creatures. While Elbryan is taken in by an elfin race called the Touel’alfar, Jilseponie is raised in

In Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, you play as the “Fateless One,” a hero unique in the world for his ability to change the fates of others however he or she sees fit. So it’s ironic that, given the opportunity to do whatever they wanted with this last-gen cult classic from 2012, developer Kaiko and publisher Thq Nordic did so little to improve the experience for the remaster.
Honestly, it’s a struggle to even note much of an update to the graphics. Character models are a little bit smoother. Parts of the varied fantasy world look a little bit brighter, but overall it doesn’t appear that textures have seen much of an improvement. There aren’t even many graphics options in the PC version. No one watching this game in motion is going to mistake it for a new release.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, a remaster of Kingdoms of Amalur, has been delayed to September but is now set to receive a brand new Dlc expansion called Fatesworn.
Thq Nordic hasn’t revealed much about this new expansion, but it appears that it’s being built from the ground up for the purposes of this remaster. That means that it should be different from some of the previously unreleased content that is expected to be included with the base version of the remaster. However, we’re still waiting for the full details regarding the scope of the Fatesworn expansion in that respect.
Speaking of the base version, it appears that the new plan is for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning to be released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 8. It was previously scheduled for release on August 18.
According to the game’s listing and this tweet from the Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning team,...

Who are the good guys & who are the bad guys in Song of the Risen God? We break down the nuanced morality in R.A. Salvatore's trilogy-ender.
This post is sponsored by Tor Books.
Readers who have been following R. A. Salvatore’s career since his early days and the introduction of his iconic character Drizzt Do’Urden, know that the author has never followed a clear path that defines good and evil. In his most recent novel, Song of the Risen God (the conclusion to "The Coven”" trilogy), Salvatore doubles down on the idea that both good and evil can be found among any group of people—and that even those striving toward what they believe is "good" will find themselves at odds with others doing the same.
Although Song of the Risen God is the 14th novel set in Corona, it stands on its own remarkably well.

I will admit that I’m pretty easy to please but this thing looks better than I could have imagined. I’d consider myself very well entrenched in the world(s) of Terry Brooks, including and perhaps mostly his Shannara output, even though I’m not a mega fan in that way being a The Lord of the Rings diehard won’t allow. That said, I’ve never been someone who doesn’t acknowledge both the historical significance of Terry Brooks as it relates to direct impact on the modern fantasy publishing landscape and market and that I used to check for Brooks every time I was in the Walden Books paper back section to see if the next Shannara installment had hit.
On the first, I won’t get into all of the specifics, as I’m sure others have, but Brooks and Del Rey did nothing less than...

Dare To Descend Into The Underdark In Rage Of Demons
Fight Alongside Drizzt Do’Urden in the New Dungeons & Dragons Storyline on Computer, Console or Tabletop This Fall!
Demons, chaos, and a mission to save the world? Count me in! As a seasoned Dungeons & Dragons tabletop player, I am always excited to read about the new storylines, but this one has me extra fired up.
Growing up, my D&D experience was a six year long campaign that my best friend’s father had written with his buddies in college. Our Saturdays and Sundays consisted of hours of gameplay and as much root beer and kettle corn as we could ingest. We fought orcs and dragon gods, and sometimes we even fought each other, but we always became closer friends. The campaign came to a close with my friends and me descending into the nine planes of Hell to battle...

Sony has announced that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be added to PlayStation Plus members’ free Instant Game Collection when the Ps Store updates tomorrow, October 1, 2013.
From the minds of bestselling author R.A. Salvatore and the legendary comic book artist Todd McFarlane, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning holds the sad distinction of being the first and last project to be released from the now defunct 38 Studios. Despite the game’s less than successful sales record, Kingdoms of Amalur is widely considered to be a solid RPG, making it one of the highlights in October’s PlayStation Plus lineup.
Aside from the Igc addition, Sony is also discounting Flashback HD (Ps Plus Price: $7.99, Regular Price: $9.99), and the following titles for PlayStation Plus members:
Game Title Ps Plus Price Regular Price Wheel Of Fortune Ultimate Edition $17.19 $21.49 Jeopardy! Ultimate Edition $17.19 $21.49 Wheel Of Fortune & Jeopardy! Complete Pack $19.59 $24.49 Mx vs. Atv: Alive $8.99 $11.99 Mx vs. Atv: Alive...

In a controversial move, DC decided to forego publishing its regular line of books and put out 52 one-shot stories featuring some of its best villains. The one-shots range from extremely popular (Joker, Lex Luthor, Brainiac) to the newer and more obscure (Relic, Shadow Thief). They feature some veteran creators and some who have barely drawn a comic. Each “Villains Month” book will get a decimal point after a regular DC Comic. For example, Joker will feature in Batman 23.1, Riddler will feature in Batman 23.2 etc. The first issue of the new DC event Forever Evil will come out the same month as the villain one-shots. It is a direct follow up to “Trinity War” and will be written by Geoff Johns and drawn by David Finch. There are quite a few “Villains Month” books, but the following comics either have great creative teams, continue a compelling storylines, or are simply intriguing.

Cover art for “The Companions,” the 28th book in the Drizzt Do’Urden series.
The latest novel in the Drizzt Do’Urden series hit bookstores last week and was well received by critics.
R.A. Salvatore’s “The Companions” is the 28th full-length novel to focus on Drizzt and his friends. The lavender-eyed drow and his companions have captured the hearts and imaginations of fans since the first book was published in 1988. The original series wasn’t even focused on Drizzt, but after a massive response from fans Salvatore decided to run with the character.
The latest novel is the first in a series titled “The Sundering,” which ushers in a change to the Forgotten Realms, one of the shared worlds that Dungeons and Dragons players use in role-playing games owned by Wizards of the Coast.

In spite of strong sales of Kingdoms of Amalur: The Reckoning back in February and the promise of an Mmo, the Rhode Island-based studio's fortunes have been in a precipitous decline over the last two weeks.
It all started on May 14th with state of Rhode Island calling 38 Studios out for not paying back a $75 million loan which the developer received back in 2010. This lead to swift movement that week to get the state a past due $1.125 million while forgoing payroll for the entire studio, who receives their checks on the first and fifteen of each month.
What we didn't know then was that a month earlier, Studio head Jennifer MacLean along with John Blackley and other senior staff were already out the door due to staffing reductions.
Now on the heels that the company's health insurance has run out, The Verge is reporting that the entire staff has been laid off.

R.A. Salvatore's first published novel, The Crystal Shard, exploded onto the book scene in 1988 and cemented his name as one of today's greatest fantasy authors. His first trilogy, set in the Dungeons & Dragons's Forgotten Realms, was such a huge hit that he was signed to write both prequels and sequels in the years following. Now, after more than twenty years and over twenty New York Times bestsellers, he continues to excite and amaze his readers with his heroic tales in his latest book, Neverwinter: Neverwinter Saga, Book II.
His most popular character, Drizzt Do'Urden, has been featured in more than two dozen books with no real ending in sight. A Drow Elf ranger is probably not the first choice most people would have picked to write about, but Salvatore did just that. And when I say anticipation, I’m talking like the anticipation of a little boy waiting to get off the school bus on the last day. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is the brain child of an unlikely, but very holy trinity. Imagined by R.A. Salvatore, (The Legend of Drizz’t) brought to life by Todd McFarlane (Spawn) , and designed by Ken Rolston (Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) and his team at Big Huge Games, Ringdoms of Amalur: Reckoning introduces players to a brand new fantasy setting that promises an unrivaled action RPG experience with hundreds of quests and characters and an unique blend of sword and sorcery.

A couple of weekends ago, after a vigorous night of drinking and carrying on, I found myself idly scanning the cable channels, looking for something to help me fall asleep before the spinning walls caught up with me. I flipped past the abominable 1987 adaptation, Masters Of The Universe, and then flipped back to it, because I'd completely forgotten about it. The movie had been on for 20 minutes. I watched the entire remainder of it, fascinated and strangely enjoying myself.
