Former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar is auctioning off the last drum set he used while with the band — on tour and during the recording of 2006’s The Black Parade — to raise money for a Tennessee animal rescue center.
Bryar, who left My Chemical Romance (and subsequently the music industry) in 2010, wrote of the drum set on the listing, “This is my very last drum kit and it’s ready for a new home. I used this kit when [the band] opened the MTV VMAs in 2005, the following tour, and for some of the [Black Parade] record.

Welcome to the Black Parade: a depressing event we hold every year on the anniversary of My Chemical Romance's breakup. Their famous last words came on March 22, 2013, when they posted a heartfelt note on their Facebook. "Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing," they began. "We’ve gotten to go places we never knew we would. We’ve been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure." Well that adventure has been over for five years now, and the ghost of MCR still haunts us to this day. Read on to see what the former...

The Netflix original series The Umbrella Academy, based on the popular series of comics and graphic novels is adding more cast members. The Eisner award-winning books are created and written by Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), they are illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics. The series is adding Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, and Aidan Gallagher. They join a cast that already includes Ellen Page as Vanya, the family oddball that has no super powers.
Here a list that was released that offers us a description for each of the five characters that the actors will be playing:
Tom Hopper (Luther) – “Luther” was groomed by his father from an early age to be the leader of The Umbrella Academy – a responsibility that has always weighed heavily on him. He is resilient, a workaholic, and possesses the ability of heightened physical strength. Upstanding to a fault,...

When I first heard that Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance had written a superhero comic series, I was of course skeptical. However, from everything I've heard, it seems to actually be a great, original piece of work! Who'd've thunk it? Now Netflix is working on a live-action series out of it (after many failed attempts to get a big-budget film off the ground). Casting has also officially... Read More...

Netflix has added the first member to the live-adaption of Dark Horse’s The Umbrella Academy and it’s Juno star Ellen Page.
The Umbrella Academy was created by former My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way back in 2007. The Umbrella Academy was a darker more goth version of something like Marvel’s X-Men. It was a series about a family of siblings that were born with extraordinary powers. The children are taken in by Sir Reginald Hargreeves aka The Monocle, which is an alien disguised as an entrepreneur. He raises them to save the world from possible destruction. The series was illustrated by Gabriel Bá and had two story main arcs (Apocalypse Suite and Dallas).

The past few weeks I’ve been talking a lot about other people’s Kickstarter campaigns. This week, here at ComicMix, I’m here to talk about our Kickstarter campaign that is active right now. That’s right; ComicMix LLC is working on a new project – a major comics collection to benefit Planned Parenthood.
I’m going to get into that in a minute.
This project has been in the works for nearly two years now. It started back in December of 2015. Fellow ComicMix columnist and my co-editor Molly Jackson and I were at Mia Pizza in Astoria NY. I was a mere two months into my tenure as a columnist here and we were discussing something we could do. We immediately thought of doing a comics anthology. We had a lot of ideas we were throwing around, including a throwback Crime Does Not Pay style anthology.

If you were to ask me that if you got the frontrunner to the band "My Chemical Romance", Gerard Way, and Brazilian comic book illustrator Gabriel Ba together, you'd end up with an amazing comic book series, I'd give you a doubtful look. But it ended up great, and for awhile it was being planned on being turned into a television series or even a film. But time passed, and nothing happened. Except now Netflix has stepped in and saved everybody's day.
That's right, Netflix has picked up The Umbrella Academy to air on their streaming service with a bunch of other great shows. The Umbrella Academy is definitely an interesting take on the superhero genre. Gerard Way says new album Danger Days is an 'allegory for the music industry.'

Much has been made about the path My Chemical Romance took in making Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, a two-year odyssey that saw them record an entire album, scrap it and part ways with drummer Bob Bryar.
But for all the drama that went into Danger Days, MCR frontman Gerard Way can trace the entire album's genesis back to one single moment: the making of their "Desolation Row" video, which they shot for Zack Snyder's "Watchmen" film in late 2008.
"In a weird way, yeah, 'Watchmen' was [the beginning]. ... It's kind of funny, because [we] had a weird experience with making that video. There's always early signs," Way told MTV News on Monday. "I remember somebody in that audience when we were shooting that video saying,...

My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is, on the surface, yet another concept album from a band that seemingly makes nothing but concept albums. It's a daring, DayGlo-addled story about a band of outlaws — that would be, of course, the titular Killjoys — battling an oppressive corporation in a postapocalyptic future world (or something like that).
But if you dig a little deeper, past the costumes and car chases and down to the nuts and bolts of how it came to be, you quickly learn that Danger Days is a lot more than just a work of fiction. Its creation was, in all honesty, much stranger than anything frontman Gerard Way ever could have written.

My Chemical Romance will never have their music played in an elevator. The "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)" group are on a mission to "polarize" people with their music, and because their tracks inspire different reactions in people, they know they won't end up as background music.
"We're a band that you love or hate. I think the worst thing to be as a band or artist is - well, you'd never hear us in an elevator," guitarist Frank Iero told Drowned In Sound. "You hear bands even that are out now, in elevators; because you're indifferent to it. But this band is so loved and so hated that we polarize people, and that's great."

Since then, they've finished recording — and subsequently re-recording — an entire album, undergone a rather drastic DayGlo makeover, and created an impressive postapocalyptic future world to inhabit.
Through it all, the stool behind the drum kit has remained empty — until Saturday, that is, when MCR launched their World Contamination Tour in London. Gerard Way says Danger Days' first single 'was the momentum we needed to dig deep and record another album.'

On November 22, My Chemical Romance will return with their supercharged new album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, and if they seem rather invigorated this time out — what with frontman Gerard Way's radioactive-red dye job and their newfound affinity for Trans Ams and DayGlo leather jackets — well, they owe it all to one song: the hyperkinetic first single, "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)."
Because, as Way told BBC Radio's Zane Lowe earlier this week, up until the moment they wrote the song, MCR were floundering, putting the finishing touches on an album (produced by Brendan O'Brien) that they weren't happy with, and dealing with the departure of drummer Bob Bryar.

It is probably too early to say this, but based on little more than a really awesome trailer and a really long title, I'm going to declare that My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is the perfect rock-and-roll album.
Am I being premature in saying this? Most definitely. Danger Days doesn't even have an official release date yet. Am I being hyperbolic? Absolutely. Aside from the few verses of (what I'm assuming) is a song called "Na Na Na" featured in the trailer, I haven't heard a note of what will be on the album. But none of that really matters. It's Musical March Madness! The sprawling bracket — both a parody and a tribute to the Ncaa basketball tournament, masterminded by MTV News' James Montgomery — takes the 65 biggest names in rock, splits them up into four regions, assigns them seeds and puts them up against one another in a single-elimination series of match-ups in a winner-take-all contest. We're leaving it to you to decide an actual champ in this field of 65. Over the next few weeks, we will present a series of polls that will allow you to vote for the match-ups presented in MTV News' Band Bracketology. You vote for the winners, we'll keep advancing the seeds and, in the end, we'll have some sort of champion. What will the winner receive? Little more than our esteem (as well as that of the fans) and some Internet bragging rights.

According to People, Bryar brought his pooch to Schaffer’s kennel for intense training to help him recover from abuse and emotional trauma caused by his former owner. Bryar spent $7,500 on the training in April, but when he called to check in on the dog, the trainer reported that Dixie was killed when a drunk driver struck the vehicle in which Schaffer was carrying several dogs, according to the court papers filed in Burbank Supreme Court.
