They’re still tiny and now they’re learning to be a little looney with a new spin on one of television’s most catchy theme songs.
Tiny Toons Looniversity, the updated take on 1990s favorite Tiny Toon Adventures, used its time at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday morning to unveil its theme song, which as you’d expect, is based on the beloved theme song from the original — but with a new twist.
Composer Matthew Janszen has taken composer Bruce Broughton’s Daytime Emmy-winning tune and remixed the original arrangement and lyrics to fit the rebooted show made for a new generation.
The voice cast features Eric Bauza as Buster, Daffy and Gossamer; Ashleigh Hairston as Babs; David Errigo Jr. as Hamton J. Pig and Plucky; and Tessa Netting as Sweety. Looniversity also brings back Tiny Toon Adventures grads Jeff Bergman, Bob Bergen, Candi Milo and Cree Summer, who...

Jonathan Van Ness is now an Emmy nominee for being a producer on the short-form variety series “Gay of Thrones.” The reality star is also a member of the Fab Five on “Queer Eye,” which won three Emmys last year including Best Structured Reality Program.

For Jonathan Van Ness, best known as the grooming expert within Queer Eye’s Fab Five, the summer of 2019 came with mixed emotions. Seeing the Netflix reality series pick up six more Emmy nominations was, of course, cause for celebration. Just two months earlier, though, the pop culture aficionado said goodbye to HBO’s Game of Thrones, a series he and millions of others had loved—and with it, his Funny or Die short-form series Gay of Thrones—the combination of which was a somber affair.
With Queer Eye, Van Ness saw his life transform overnight, going from a celebrity hairstylist to an international celebrity, working on multiple fronts as a TV personality, author, political activist, and influencer. What some may not realize, though, is that Gay of Thrones was the project that put Van Ness on the map. Coming together five years before Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot, the...

A version of this story about Jonathan Van Ness first appeared in the Down to the Wire issue of TheWrap’s Emmy magazine.
“Queer Eye” grooming guru Jonathan Van Ness has come a long way since Funny or Die introduced him in “Gay of Thrones,” a satirical take on the HBO fantasy hit that launched in 2013.
“I used to feel like I got a lot of no’s,” Van Ness told TheWrap. “‘Gay of Thrones’ was the only thing I ever really did. And I definitely had auditions for other hosting opportunities, but everyone was like, ‘I don’t get it,’ ‘No,’ ‘… (or) “Can you just come in and say ‘Where are my dragons?'” he recalls. “I think I used to feel like, will this be the only thing I do?”

For the actors, it’s been over for months. The producers are looking forward to getting drunk and fleeing the internet. But there are entire communities that have been born around “Game of Thrones” as its popularity has risen, and for them, the show ending will be a life-changing experience.
The Recappers
For the crew of “Gay of Thrones,” for example, the end of the show means the disbanding of a team that’s been working together since Season 3 to recap each episode from a very distinct point of view. The Funny or Die digital series was created by Erin Gibson after her hairdresser Jonathan Van Ness (years before his casting on “Queer Eye”) began offering up his “Thones” thoughts while dying her roots; after five seasons (and two Emmy nominations), she and her crew have perfected the making of the show down to a science, which IndieWire experienced once...

If you work in television in any capacity, there are over a hundred categories in which you could be nominated for an Emmy, largely in below-the-line capacities. And what we find every year is how often, behind the scenes, the nominees still happen to be heavily male versus female — while certain fields like casting and make-up do lean heavily towards women nominees, there are still many areas where they struggle to be acknowledged.
Below are some (not all) of the shows featuring deserving women who, this year, received important recognition by the Academy for the work that happens behind the scenes, from writing to editing to production design to directing.
“Twin Peaks”

Before “Queer Eye” was a twinkle in our queer eyes, there was “Gay of Thrones.” Starring everyone’s favorite long-locked mother of unicorns, the Funny or Die series features “Queer Eye” hair stylist Jonathan Van Ness rehashing each “Game of Thrones” episode, and it’s exactly as amazing as that sounds. Spewing cultural references like dragonfire, Van Ness and his rotating cast of guests assign clever nicknames to each character: Daenerys is “Christina Aguilera,” Cersei is “Vintage Mia Farrow,” and Arya is “Baby Kill Bill,” as a small sampling. As guests sit in his stylist’s chair, Van Ness rattles off the drama of Westeros with his signature panache — serving Valley girl realness with a deep and abiding cultural knowledge.

On Valentine's Day, two digital media companies teamed up to create a channel a press release refers to as a "lovechild." Funny or Die has made a move to serve Lgbtq+ audiences by setting up shop on the queer streaming service Revry, where shows like Gay Of Thrones are now available.
As part of its agreement with Revry, Funny or Die has launched a channel that features Lgbtq-friendly content. Gay Of Thrones, in which hairstylist Jonathan Van Ness and his guests recap Game of Thrones episodes, is a natural fit for Revry's viewers.

Last night’s episode of TV Land’s “Throwing Shade” jumped politically from the likes of Mike Huckabee to crowdfunded breast milk fro-yo. Funny or Die’s next foray into the world of television will bring it to TV Land. The online comedy network is developing a pilot based on Throwing Shade, a podcast web series hosted by Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi.
The TV pilot will feature the same sort of chattiness and candor that viewers can find in the 80 episodes of Throwing Shade available on the Funny Or Die website. “This is Throwing Shade,” explain Gibson and Safi in the beginning of each episode, “where ‘feminasty’ Erin Gibson and homosexual Bryan Safi take a look at the headlines in politics and pop culture and treat them with much less respect than they deserve. Can you handle it?”

TV Land has ordered Funny or Die’s “Throwing Shade” to pilot. The Erin Gibson/Bryan Safi project plans on taking “all the issues important to ladies and gays and treating them with much less respect than they deserve,” per a media release. “Throwing Shade” is based on the podcast and web series of the same name. Those versions cover women’s rights and gay rights, and are equal parts pop culture and politics. The podcast itself boasts more than 10 million downloads, and won the People’s Choice Podcast Award for the Best Lgbt Podcast in 2012, 2013 and 2015. Also Read: Funny...

The retirement of dangerously loony Michele Bachmann is good news for … well, everyone. Except comedians. Thankfully, there’s still plenty of time to pay tribute, and our old pal Bryan Safi gets his turn now, with co-star/writer/director Erin Gibson.
And I would so go see Bachmann Up The Wrong Tree.

Bryan Safi and Jeffery Self have gotten together to hash out what might be the most pressing topic this season: What are various celebrities wearing for Halloween? In this installment we find out what Jennifer Aniston has planned for a costume. (Angelina is going to be totes jealous!)
Hey Ae readers, you should definitely check out Bryan's bonkers weekly podcast Throwing Shade with co-host Erin Gibson. Here's a recent episode, but we highly recommend you subscribe via iTunes.
Episode description: Fall is finally here! Which means Erin got lost in a corn maze. But she managed to escape and is ready to throw some shade at pink-washing during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a homophobic home-schooled New Zealand teen, and hypocrisy in People Magazine. Bryan Safi has entertained you in a bunch of seriously entertaining forums: He's played Marcus Bachmann in some unforgettable Funny Or Die videos, hosted the "That's Gay" segment on Current TV's much-missed infoMania, performs at L.A.'s Upright Citizens Brigade occasionally in "Entertainment Hollywood," and now he cohosts the uproariously funny podcast "Throwing Shade" with his infoMania costar Erin Gibson. He also won a Daytime Emmy as a staff writer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which is impressive if you worship award shows. Which I would never do.
We sat down with Safi (@bryansafi) to shoot the breeze about pop culture, his podcast, and the real-life benefits of reality TV. Also, he has a crush on Chris Matthews. Pass it on.
AfterElton: I love "Throwing Shade," and I hear you have another gig coming up.
Bryan Safi: I'm on a new show starting in April called "Popspot,...

"Downton Arby's" could easily have been a one-joke sketch, but this thing is funny, everyone. Using an Arby's franchise as a backdrop for the pomp of "Downton Abbey" is done with a uniquely clever and unwavering tone, and the terrific cast makes us truly believe that all of the Dowager Countess' problems could probably be solved with curly fries.
The fast food staff, starring a tuxedoed Matt Walsh, Richard Kind, Erin Gibson and Jennie Pierson, among others, takes on the stiffness of the British import -- with the hierarchy of running a burger joint mirroring the house-vs.-staff dynamic at play on the PBS hit. Except instead of romantic whispers with chamber maids taking place in the annals of a mansion, they take place at a deep fryer.
This is the fifth video produced for Sketchy, the recently-launched sketch video series on Yahoo! Screen's new comedy channel.

Payman Benz, the gentleman director behind such cinematic lampoons as Bavatar and Fakeboring Nightvisioncrap 2, returns with a parody that might have you bursting - literally - at the seams: The Hungry Games. Starring Alison Becker ("Parks and Recreation"), Erin Gibson ("Parks and Recreation"), Ryan Lee (Super 8) and Nick Krause (The Descendants), The Hungry Games is a shot-for-shot parody of The Hunger Games' first trailer. Does it, like it did to me, make you want a donut? If you see a cool video online you think would be perfect for this spotlight, drop us a line at yourvideos@joblo.com.

Keeping it in the Disney family, and taking on a role that means he took his purity ring off at least once, Nick Jonas is set to show up on ABC's Last Man Standing as the dead-beat dad of Tim Allen's grandson. I don't care as long as he wears tight pants.

Mickey Rourke is slamming Marvel executives for screwing up Whiplash in Iron Man 2. Frankly, if you wait a few months, it seems guaranteed that Rourke with badmouth you after he appears in your film. Why does this guy have a career?
Pat Robertson, fresh off telling Republican presidential candidates to be less extreme, is out there calling gay marriage an "abomination."
Mimi Rogers has been tapped to play Ashton Kutcher's mom on Two and a Half Men, but I keep seeing pictures, and I can't...

Uninhibited, enlightening, ridiculous - comedian Jason Nash's latest character The Shaman is like that guy you should have left at Bonnaroo. It's hard not to watch this cosmic train wreck of a man trying desperately to maintain an ephemeral existence surrounded by the sobering responsibilities of modern Los Angeles life. That's really just a fancy way of saying he's a lazy roommate. The other end of that roommate coin is Matt Price, a comedian Nash has worked with on his basement podcast, Guys With Feeling, and who capably pulls of the straight man to Nash's joker. Nash steps up with a unique spin on the Will Ferrell-popularized flabby everyman on mission routine. He's the mushroom-toting hippy version that the more jocky Ferrell hasn't nailed yet. For more on the production and secret tidbits of the series, take another look at our interview with Jason earlier this spring, where we learned,...
