New Trailer For ‘How to Train Your Dragon’

29 December 2009 11:55 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Following on from the first official trailer at the start of last month, a new trailer has been released from Dreamworks Animation’s latest animated family adventure, How To Train You Dragon. This one highlights the experience of the movie a lot more than the first trailer,  (i.e. the scenes of the dragon flying etc.) instead of the slapstick and cutesy one-liners we’re used to from Dreamworks’ animated fare.

How to Train Your Dragon is set in a mythical world where Vikings and dragons have been at odds with one another for thousands of years, and killing dragons is an everyday occurrence for Vikings. It centers on a young Viking boy named Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) who one day befriends an injured dragon instead of killing it as he’s supposed to, much to the embarrassment of his father (voiced by Gerard Butler). The Notable Films of 2010: Part Six

27 December 2009 10:09 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

The Last Airbender

Opens: July 2nd 2010

Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel

Director: M. Night Shyamalan

Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.

Analysis: Its been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan who started it as a household name with labels of a moodern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".

Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of the hit cartoon series »

The Notable Films of 2010: Part Five

23 December 2009 10:10 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Hippie Hippie Shake

Opens: 2010

Cast: Cillian Murphy, Sienna Miller, Max Minghella, Emma Booth, Lee Ingleby

Director: Beeban Kidron

Summary: Follows the love story of Oz editor Richard Neville and Louise Ferrier. Neville and his cohorts launch the London edition of Oz amidst the 1960s counterculture and are subsequently put on trial for distributing a sexually explicit issue.

Analysis: One of the most troubled productions in Working Title's history, 'Hippie' began development back in 1998 but failed to get beyond script stage both in 1999 and in 2002 when "Elizabeth" helmer Shekhar Kapur was attached to direct. Filming finally got underway late 2007 with director Beeban Kidron in charge and shooting seemed to proceed without issue aside from feminist author Germaine Greer being vehemently unhappy about being depicted on film.

Actually the film scored quite a bit of free press for a skinny dipping scene where full-frontal shots of actress Sienna Miller shooting the sequence »

Marmaduke Trailer Starring Owen Wilson

22 December 2009 8:13 AM, PST | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Now this is a drive-in movie if ever there was one! Owen Wilson voices Marmaduke, the clumsy Great Dane from the comic strip by Brad Anderson. Unlike some of the other talking animal comedies out there, they decided not to go the full CG route for the dogs, which is probably a good thing. As far as the voices go, maybe it's just me, but Owen Wilson doesn't seem to fit such a big dog. Fortunately, I can probably overlook that, because check it out... that dog's actually wearing sunglasses! Classic! From the twist on Phantom Planet's "California" to the tag line that refers to him as "The Duke", this teaser trailer is a real masterpiece. Marmaduke is directed by Tom Dey (Failure to Launch, Shanghai Noon) and also stars William H. Macy and Judy Greer, plus the voices of Steve Coogan, Ron Perlman, Jeremy Piven, Emma Stone, Damon Wayans and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. »

Marmaduke Trailer Goes Live

22 December 2009 2:50 AM, PST | Screenrush | See recent Screenrush news »

20th Century Fox has released the teaser trailer for Marmaduke, the big screen adaptation of the Brad Anderson-created comic strip.

The official plot synopsis is as follows: For Phil and Debbie Winslow, moving their family from Kansas to the O.C. is a big deal. For their enormous Great Dane "Marmaduke," (voiced by Owen Wilson) however, the move means a whole new way of life. It's chaos at home and awkward at work as the Winslows struggle to control their angsty teenage canine.

Director Tom Dey (Shanghai Noon, Failure To Launch) has said that he approached the film like "a John Hughes movie with dogs," and the dog park is "like high school for dogs". The script "sees Marmaduke navigate a volatile Mutts vs. Pedigrees turf war, woo the purebred of his dreams and overcome a fall from grace."

Alongside Wilson stars Amanda Seyfried, Ron Perlman, Jeremy Piven, Judy Greer, »

New Red Band Kick-Ass Clip Features Hit Girl

22 December 2009 1:44 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

If the idea of a 10-year-old girl with no superpowers fighting crime sounds ridiculous to you, reserve judgment until you see Hit Girl in action in this new Rated-r clip for Kick-Ass, director Matthew Vaughn's big screen adaptation of the comic book by Mark Millar. Not only does Hit Girl (played by Chloe Moretz) have mad hand-to-hand combat skills and a talent for gunplay, her dirty mouth is also powerful enough to make a sailor blush. Hit Girl may just dethrone Gogo Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama), the chain-wielding school girl/assassin from Kill Bill, as the baddest girl at the Cineplex.

Kick-Ass also stars Aaron Johnson as Dave "Kick-Ass" Lizewski, Nicolas Cage as Damon "Big Daddy" Macready, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Chris "Red Mist" D'Amico.

Throwing a bone at the Marmaduke trailer

22 December 2009 12:27 AM, PST | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

A Marmaduke movie has been in production for a few months now. I've been trying to keep the news from you for as long as possible, but if the movie is being made that also means that one day there will be a trailer out. Guess what today is?

That's Owen Wilson providing the voice of the big mutt plucked from his single panel comic strip and into the realm of movies. I think it's kind of a bizarre form of penance that Wilson has to lend his pipes to a talking dog part when he played opposite the pooch in Marley & Me a year ago this time.

Marmaduke also will feature other talking dogs, with two Wayans brothers, Zombieland's Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Steve Coogan giving voice to the four-legged characters. June 2010 is when the movie arrives in theaters; plan your family vacation accordingly. »

Hit Girl Exposed in 'Kick-Ass' Red Band Trailer

21 December 2009 11:53 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Lionsgate Films has provided another preview to "Kick-Ass" by releasing an age restricted trailer. Unlike the previously released sneak peeks which mainly focus on green-costumed superhero Kick-Ass, the new video which was outed by IGN gives much of its portion to Hit Girl, an alter ego of 12 year-old Mindy Macready who shows no mercy when attacking her enemies.

Adapted from a comic book series by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., "Kick-Ass" promises to offer a twisted, funny, high-octane adventure from director Matthew Vaughn. Set for U.S. release on April 16, 2010, it follows the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski who decides to take his comic-book obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero.

Assembling green-colored suit and mask to wear, he opts to be called Kick-Ass and gets to work fighting crime. As a superhero wannabe, Kick-Ass actually has no superpower. However, his life is forever changed as he »
