Since selling Lucasfilm to Disney for a massive $4 billion, George Lucas has left the House of Mouse to do what it will with Star Wars. Sure, he's visited the set of The Mandalorian and offered a few thoughts on the sequels, but he hasn't been creatively involved.
Disney has returned to many of his greatest creations in recent years, whether it's with a "Baby Yoda," The Clone Wars' Ahsoka Tano, or by filling in the gaps between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope by enlisting Ewan McGregor for Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi.
During an interview with the Full of Sith podcast (via SFFGazette.com), Pablo Hidalgo - a Lucasfilm executive tasked with maintaining the canon of the franchise - confirmed that Lucas was a big fan of the latter series.

Joel Edgerton has been in Star Wars and the series Obi-Wan Kenobi, so he is versed in sci-fi.
But he failed his audition for the role of Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. He says the reason for that is not understanding the film’s tone.
In an EW interview, Edgerton said that the part — which went to Chris Pratt — was a good choice by casting.
“Star-Lord’s a good one, actually, because I, unlike Chris, didn’t quite sort of understand the tone of it the way he did and the way that those guys did,” he said. “And I wasn’t really sure how I could be a part of that tone.”
Edgerton added, “And I truly think that the world is a much better place [because] I’m not Star-Lord, even if I had the opportunity or I did a good enough audition, because it is the...

In a galaxy not so far away, the Star Wars saga continues to unfurl, enticing viewers with its interstellar narratives and, of course, those enduring characters. But did you know that the very creator of this universe, George Lucas, deems Obi-Wan Kenobi as one of the crowning jewels of his epic franchise?
Yes, Lucas’ true feelings for the Disney+ series were revealed recently by the executive of Lucasfilm. But can fans’ sentiment, steeped in both adoration and criticism, align with the vision of the master storyteller?

The new ‘Gateway Shop’ format will purportedly offer Disney a way to reach customers with ads without interrupting their watching.
Streaming has offered a number of innovations to its customers over the years. The ability to watch video on demand was a revelation to many, especially those who didn’t grow up with cable. Watching content without ads was another new feature of streaming, and though ads have made their way onto essentially every streaming platform nowadays, that partially means there are more opportunities for streaming providers to innovate the way they deliver ads. At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Disney announced just such an innovation.
Disney is launching a limited beta test of a new ad format it calls “Gateway Shop.” This format will deliver ads to user’s phones or emails while they stream Disney content, so as not to interrupt their viewing.

Disney first agreed to allow Spectrum TV customers access to Disney+ at no additional cost in September.
It was a risky gambit by Charter Communications to look Disney in the eye and tell them it would not air their channels at the demanded price unless it got free access to Disney+ for its customers included in the deal. But Disney ultimately blinked in the stare down that ensured, and on Thursday Charter announced that its Spectrum TV Select customers could officially begin signing up for their new Disney+ accounts.
Spectrum TV Select users can now sign up for Disney+ Basic as part of their cable plan. Disney and Charter agreed to a new carriage deal in September that granted Spectrum TV Select subscribers Disney+ access in exchange for higher fees to carry Disney-owned channels. The deal could lead to a wider integration of streaming plans with cable providers. Sign Up Now $7.99+ / month disneyplus.

If your favorite movie was pulled as part of Disney+’s cost-saving measures earlier this year, there’s a good chance you can find it on platforms like Prime Video now.
The handbook for turning streaming losses into profits is fairly short. It really only has three main steps: launch an ad-supported tier, raise prices on ad-free customers, and remove titles from streaming platforms that no longer drive sufficient engagement. Disney can check all three items off their list this year; the company is preparing to execute another round of price increases on Thursday, Oct. 12, and has cut big swaths of content from Disney+ and Hulu alike.
Some films cut from Disney+ are now available to rent or buy for as little as $3.99. Era of deepest cuts on Disney+ is likely over. Movies are available on platforms like Prime Video, iTunes and more.

Reminder: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ Price Increases All Take Effect on Oct. 12. Is There Any Way to Save?
The day Disney’s streaming customers have been dreading is finally here. What are the best ways to save money on Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ now?
Disney is not at all satisfied with the financial performance of its streaming platforms. That’s to be expected considering the company still loses millions of dollars per quarter from its streamers, and especially since Disney views its on-demand video platforms as the most important part of its entertainment offerings going forward.
Disney streaming price increases go into effect Thursday, Oct. 12. There are still deals available on Disney+ and Hulu + Live TV. Ad-supported streaming plans remain an excellent, low-cost alternative. Mickey in the Poorhouse
The overall strategy of chasing streaming profits has led Disney to announce its second wave of price increases for its streaming services in less than a year. The company is willing to pull out all the stops to begin profiting from its streamers,...

Warning: This article contains spoilers for series five of Ghosts
Somehow, the final series of Ghosts has neatly tied up all the show’s loose ends while still leaving us wanting more – which is a jolly good thing considering they’ve confirmed we’re getting one more Christmas special in December 2023.
They really packed a lot into those last six episodes, revealing the heartbreaking truth behind the deaths of Kitty and the Captain, showing Alison and Mike’s next step in life, and giving the whole gang the opportunity to say all the lovely, touching things fans wanted to hear (as well as adding a poignant reference to Mary in the opening credits).
Taking the characters on these final journeys involved lots of flashbacks and new faces, so let’s recap all the most important guest stars from series five:
Anna Crilly as Joy Kielty

After years of rumours, Ewan McGregor finally returned as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a limited series released on Disney+. The series was a success (although not without its critics), and many fans have been wondering if a second season is possible. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy told the Dagobah Dispatch podcast that Obi-Wan Kenobi could still return, perhaps even in a movie.
“I always hesitate to say no to more Obi-Wan Kenobi. Maybe we end up doing something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories that we’re doing, or eventually into a movie, but who knows?” Kathleen Kennedy said. “But right now, it’s still our standard stand-alone limited series, we have no plans for expansion right now.” The Lucasfilm boss is clearly keeping her options open, but both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen have said that they would return for more. It’d be interesting to see just...

“Game of Thrones” actor Indira Varma is joining the new series of “Doctor Who.”
She will be seen as the Duchess, described by the BBC as a “mysterious new role.” Varma was previously part of the “Doctor Who” universe as Suzie Costello in Russell T Davies’ spin-off series “Torchwood.”
Varma’s recent roles include Netflix show “Obsession” and Disney+’s Star Wars franchise series “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” She won an Olivier for her role in “Present Laughter.”
“Doctor Who” began in 1963 and follows the adventures of a Time Lord known as The Doctor, an extraterrestrial being with a human appearance. The Doctor travels the universe in a time-travelling spaceship called the Tardis.
Jodie Whittaker, the 13th Doctor in the series, regenerated last year, revealing David Tennant, who was the 10th Doctor, as the 14th Doctor. The series returns in November, with Tennant as the Doctor, with three special episodes to...

It seems people can’t get enough of Din Djarin and Grogu on their screens. But with “The Mandalorian” coming to the end of season 3, people may be wondering whether it’s worth paying out the $7.99-$10.99 per month to Disney+ or maybe just putting the service on hiatus until 2024’s season 4 and saving some money.

For Star Wars fans, the next big event will be “Ahsoka” in August. The show centers on the character of the same name who appears in both “The Book of Boba Fett” and “The Mandalorian.” Fans may remember she was the one who revealed Grogu’s name Chapter 13 and helps explain the use of the Darksaber.
Unfortunately, that means three months without any new live-action Star Wars shows.
On May 4, fans will see the animated “Young Jedi Adventures” and “Star Wars: Visions.

Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen’s chemistry is written in the stars, at least according to “Obi-Wan Kenobi” fans.
Decades after the duo first appeared side-by-side as Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker, respectively, in the “Star Wars” prequel films, McGregor and Christensen reunited for the Disney+ series, set 10 years after the events of “Revenge of the Sith.”
“There’s a lot of homoerotic Obi-Wan/Hayden fan art that gets sent to me now and again,” McGregor revealed to GQ. “I don’t know how it finds me. It’s always a bit of an eyeopener.”
McGregor continued: “You open the envelope, you think you’re going to have to sign something, and you’re like, ‘Fucking hell!'”
The Disney+ series, currently streaming, marked both McGregor and Christensen’s returns to the franchise. Christensen previously gushed that even the crew were “proper ‘Star Wars’ fans,” which made the series so special.
