Consider what we know about Garfield the cat: He’s orange, a little plump, he loves lasagna, he hates Mondays, and — ah, well, that’s about it. Enough information to fill about four comic strip panels, wouldn’t you say? And yet, somehow, this lazy kitty and his very mild exploits have inspired three television series (with one more on the way), a dozen prime-time specials, and three feature-length films.
While previous cinematic iterations of Garfield’s story have stretched his adventures to wacky ends — the 2004 “Garfield: The Movie” essentially acted as an origin story, while its 2006 sequel “Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties” put a “Prince and the Pauper”-ish twist on his life — the latest in a long, looooooong line of Garfield adaptations goes in the opposite direction. Mark Dindal’s garishly animated “The Garfield Movie” — not to be confused with “Garfield: The Movie” — inserts a beloved feline...

According to those who’ve spoken to him lately, former President Donald Trump doesn’t seem to think he’s actually going to win his defamation lawsuit against ABC News and its star host George Stephanopoulos — but that’s not the point.
Over the weekend, Stephanopoulos asserted that Trump had been “found liable for rape and defaming” the victim, writer E. Jean Carroll, by judges and two juries. As a factual matter, a jury found Trump defamed and sexually abused Carroll — and he was ordered to pay $83 million for defaming her again.

Former President Donald Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against ABC News and George Stephanopoulos over the remarks the anchor made during an interview with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) on This Week.
Trump’s lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Miami on March 18, focused on how Stephanopoulos, at many points in his questioning, mentioned that the former president was found “liable for rape.” The jury found him liable for sexual abuse under New York law, but not rape.
“These statements were and remain false, and were made by Defendant Stephanopoulos with actual malice or with a reckless disregard for the truth given that Defendant Stephanopoulos knows that these statements are patently and demonstrably false,” Trump’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, wrote in the 20-page complaint.
“Indeed, the jury expressly found that Plaintiff did not commit rape and, as demonstrated below, Defendant George Stephanopoulos was aware of the jury’s finding...

Former President Donald Trump has again filed a defamation lawsuit against a major media outlet, this time over comments that ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos made during a contentious recent interview with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-sc).
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Miami, claims that Stephanopoulos defamed him during his questioning of Mace during an interview on This Week.
During the interview, Stephanopoulos played a video in which Mace said that she was a victim of rape. He first asked Mace, “You endorsed Donald Trump for president. Judges and two separate juries have found him liable for rape and for defaming the victim of that rape. How do you square your endorsement of Donald Trump with the testimony that we just saw?”
Mace said to Stephanopoulos, “I’ve lived for 30 years with an incredible amount of shame over being raped. I didn’t come forward because of that...

High-profile attorney Roberta Kaplan claimed that Donald Trump threw papers across the table at his Mar-a-Lago residence after learning that his legal team would provide her lunch.
During Thursday’s episode of the George Conway Explains It All podcast, Kaplan said that she rejected the former president’s request that they work through their lunch break because he believed the deposition was a “waste of time.”
“And then you could kind of see the wheel spinning in his brain. You could really almost see it,” she said. “And he said, ‘Well, you’re here in Mar-a-Lago. What do you think you’re going to do for lunch? Where are you going to get lunch?'”

Who doesn't love Dr. Zoidberg? Everyone! Everyone doesn't love Dr. Zoidberg. At least that's one of the running gags of "Futurama," the undying sci-fi sitcom created by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. Dr. Zoidberg, voiced by Billy West, is a pathetic dumpster-dwelling lobster monster whose body is lousy with parasites and who sprays his peers with ink when startled. He's grievously awkward and doesn't have any friends. What's more, he's a terrible doctor, completely baffled by the anatomy of the mammals he works with; his diagnoses tend to be for fish-related ailments like fungi.
Naturally, the "Futurama" writers love writing Zoidberg scenes. It's actually astonishing how much humor the "Futurama" writing staff has been able to mine from having a big lobster on the show. There are more gags and jokes about sea life than one might think. For example, when Zoidberg vomits, he ejects liquid from both his...

Roberta Kaplan, the lead lawyer for E. Jean Carroll in her defamation suit against former President Donald Trump, threatened to pursue sanctions against Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, for making a false claim about her relationship with U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the case.
On January 29, Habba stated in a letter to the federal court in Manhattan that Judge Kaplan had a conflict of interest that might warrant overturning the $83.3 million jury award for Carroll.
In her letter, Trump’s lawyer cited a New York Post article mentioning the judge allegedly working with Kaplan. (The two are not related.)
They both worked at Paul, Weiss Rifkin, Wharton & Garrison in the early 1990s, before Kaplan left to become a founding partner of Kaplan Hecker & Fink Llp.

In 2023, Donald Trump‘s super PACs spent $50 million in donor funds on legal expenses.
Trump spent the money after being criminally indicted in his failed effort to overturn the election and misuse of classified documents. He also faces defamation and civil fraud cases in civil courts.
The former president began raising millions of donations to him after he lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.
Trump pushed false claims of voter fraud to encourage his supporters to donate after his loss, attempts which have since become crucial to two of the indictments filed against him.
Save America, a Trump Pac which previously had over $100 million in the bank, almost went broke last year under the crush of legal fees.

Former President Donald Trump made waves after storming out of court during the E. Jean Carroll trial on Friday. Trump left while Carroll’s attorney relayed his closing statements to the jurors. The horror comedy series Shining Vale premiered on Starz back in March of 2022, then the second season reached the airwaves this past October. Unfortunately, there won’t be a season 3, as Variety reports that the show has been cancelled for the most common reason a show gets cancelled: it “did not find a large enough audience to continue.” But Starz is going further than just cancelling this show, as they’re also going to be scrubbing it from their archives. “Not only will the show be cut by the network, the first two seasons will be removed from the Starz streaming service at the end of the year.“

Aside from the story, one thing that fans have always loved about "Star Wars" is the production design of the entire universe. Just think about the silhouette of Darth Vader's helmet and cape, Obi-Wan Kenobi's dusty, unassuming robes, the shape of the Star Destroyers, or even the look of C-3Po and R2-D2. There is a strong visual language in this franchise, and even when you have a show like "Andor," which strips a lot of the usual "Star Wars" tropes away, you see a Stormtrooper on screen for a second, and you know exactly where you are in the world of fiction.
After decades of Stormtroopers being instantly recognizable, we got a major upgrade in the form of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) in "The Force Awakens." The character utilized the already cool design of the Imperial troops, but in chromium, with a red-striped black cape slung to one side.

Lynne Spears was spotted arriving for a visit with the pop star on Wednesday, first touching down at Los Angeles International Airport before she was driven to the home of Britney’s manager, Cade Hudson. From there, Lynne took an Uber to Britney’s home. Afterward, Britney and her husband, Sam Asghari, were seen leaving the house and driving around for another 30 minutes before returning home.
A source tells Et, “Lynne flew to L.A. to see Britney and they caught up at her home. Sam was also there.”
The relationship between Britney and Lynne has appeared strained in recent years, brought to light amid Britney’s highly publicized conservatorship battle in 2021.
Last October, Lynne issued a public plea to her daughter to have a conversation about their history.
“I’m sooo sorry for your pain! I have been sorry for years!

The Cannes Film Festival comes to a close on Saturday and you can feel it. Things are starting to slow down, standing ovations aren’t as long and those on the Croisette are starting to get tired.
Beloved filmmaker Wes Anderson debuted his latest feature, “Asteroid City,” on Wednesday and the reaction was more muted than the reception to “Killers of the Flower Moon” or even the more mixed “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” TheWrap’s Steve Pond emphasized the whole did not live up to the sum of its parts, despite pristine craft as always.
“‘Asteroid City’ also feels like a wasted opportunity of sorts,” he said in his review. “At one point, a radio off-screen plays Slim Whitman’s ‘Indian Love Call,’ the song that killed all the alien invaders in Tim Burton’s ‘Mars Attacks.’ It couldn’t help but prompt a longing for the...

How many times does E. Jean Carroll need to sue Donald Trump before he gets the message? On Monday, the author submitted a court filing seeking additional damages from the former president after he repeated claims ruled as defamatory by a New York jury during a CNN town hall. Trump responded by once again calling Carroll a liar on Truth Social.
“I don’t know E. Jean Carroll, I never met her or touched her (except on a celebrity line with her
African American husband who she disgustingly called the ‘Ape’),” Trump wrote.

Author E. Jean Carroll is seeking additional damages from former President Donald Trump after he repeated claims against her during a CNN town hall earlier this month. Donald Trump wants you to know that in the civil rape lawsuit jurors will begin deliberating on Tuesday, he is the real victim.
“Waiting for a jury decision on a False Accusation where I, despite being a current political candidate and leading all others in both parties, am not allowed to speak or defend myself, even as hard nosed reporters scream questions about this case at me,” the former president wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday.

Step out of your 6000 Sux, stop watching Tj Lazer re-runs, put down that flier from the Home Heart Centre, box up your game of Nukem. That’s right folks, we’re time-traveling to the not too distant future of 2043 Detroit in this episode of Revisited where Paul Verhoeven set his seminal, all time classic sci-fi action epic Robocop. The Dutch director showcases all of his trademark filmmaking skills and a penchant for graphic violence in the movie and it remains an often copied, but never bettered, example of visceral sci-fi filmmaking. Just think of entertainment empires that are now synonymous with the era in which they first emerged and have gained longevity in various forms – for example; Star Wars, Marvel, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and it’s hard to imagine a mid-budget movie such as Robocop having the same cultural appeal or influence. However, just like its hero,...

The new Paramount+ adaptation of “Fatal Attraction,” which sees Lizzy Kaplan and Joshua Jackson stepping into the roles made famous by Glenn Close and Michael Douglas, seeks to capture all of the erotic thrills of the 1987 film in an episodic format. But no adaptation can ever be an exact replica of its source material, so things always have to change. According to the show’s stars, that could mean that one of the film’s most iconic scenes will play out differently in the show.
The image of Anne Archer coming home to find a pet bunny boiling on the stove — a depraved trick from her husband’s mistress, played by Close — is one of the most enduring moments from “Fatal Attraction.” But in an interview with People, both Kaplan and Jackson hinted that fans shouldn’t expect to see another rabbit killed in the series.

E. Jean Carroll was steadfast in the face of cross-examination from Donald Trump’s attorneys during the second day of testimony in her civil trial against the former president on Thursday.
“You were supposedly raped?” asked Joe Tacopina, one of Trump’s lawyers.

“Those are the facts,” Carroll added when Tacopina countered that her description was simply her “version” of events.
In 2019, Carroll accused Trump of having sexually assaulted her in the dressing room of a New York department store sometime in the ‘90s.

After 25 years, Susana Gimenez, Argentina’s celebrated TV host, actress, model and entrepreneur, is set to make her hotly anticipated return to the big screen in a new Diego Kaplan comedy.
The still untitled film, penned by Kaplan and Pablo Minces, centers on a preeminent child psychologist who has her own struggles with her 43-year-old son who is reluctant to leave home. Principal photography is slated for October in Buenos Aires.
“I can’t believe I’m making a movie after all these years; I certainly wasn’t planning for it,” said Gimenez. “But Diego is a force of nature and a visionary. When he pitched the project to me, I just couldn’t resist it and jumped right in,” she added. Fans know and love Sex and the City as one of the most iconic shows to ever air on TV. The HBO dramedy aired from 1998 to 2004. The New York City-based series followed best friends Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis). The four women navigated their careers and their personal relationships.
The series was based on Candace Bushnell’s iconic ’90s column, which she turned into a book. However, she was paid very little for her rights to the book.
