While the late, great Ray Liotta will likely be immortalized due to his riveting work in the crime drama realm, we shouldn't gloss over the actor's comedic sensibilities. Whether the comedic cruelty of his character Ray Sinclair in "Something Wild," the playful spirit of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson in "Field of Dreams," or imposing cellmate Big Papa in the delightful "Muppets Most Wanted," Liotta's acting chops were not solely reserved for thrilling capers.
As such, it feels appropriate to highlight a sitcom cameo that might have flown under the radar for even the most devoted Liotta fans. In 2001, Liotta played a parody...

“You were right. I’m a rebel. I am! I just channeled my rebellion into the mainstream.”
Something Wild screens Friday, June 23rd at Webster University’s Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood). This is the fifth film in their ‘Tribute to Jonathan Demme’ The movie starts at 8:00pm.
Director Jonathan Demme’s Something Wild (1986) more than lives up to its title. This rolicking, road trip melodrama about coincidences and happenstances features a slippery-fingered bohemian babe, a staid businessman, and a psychotic criminal on the lam. Charlie Driggs (Jeff Daniels) neglects to pay his bill one day, and a complete stranger, Lulu (Melanie Griffith) confronts him about it outside of the restaurant. Afterward, Lulu takes the hopelessly conventional Charlie on a wild ride that concludes with her handcuffing him to a bed in a sleazy motel and tearing off his clothes. Impulse prompts them to careen off with Charlie still wearing the cuffs.

Something Wild Is Just That, But In A Good Way
Never trust a chick who follows you when you don’t pay for a meal.
The boring life of businessman Charles Driggs (Jeff Daniels) suddenly changes when free-spirited Audrey (Melanie Griffith) “kidnaps” him for a weekend trip. They pose as a married couple, attend Audrey’s high school reunion, and visit her mother. But when Audrey’s ex-husband Ray (Ray Liotta) shows up, freshly out of jail, this film takes a turn into dark territory.
This film doesn’t waste any time in getting started, and when it gets going, I mean, it doesn’t stop. What I liked most about this film was how writer E. Max Frye shifts the tone with his script from starting out as dark comedy, then going to a bit of a romantic comedy, then turning dark again and probing psychological thriller territory.
