Casting Call for Death Race Prequel Reveals Title, Return of Case

16 November 2009 8:50 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

The boys at SpoilerTV have gotten their hands on the casting call for Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Death Race” prequel, and on it is the full title for the direct-to-dvd sequel: “Death Race: Frankenstein Lives”. Tony Giglio is tasked with scripting the prequel, which will trace the origins of the Frankenstein character from the first movie. But what’s interesting? Apparently they’re also going to write the Case character back into the prequel. As you’ll recall, Case was Frankenstein’s original navigator in the original movie, and became Statham’s navigator after the original Frankenstein bites it in the film’s opening frame. Hot tamale model turned actress Natalie Martinez played Case in the original, and with the sequel already gearing up for production in 2010, I don’t see why she couldn’t return to play the role again. I could care less about discovering how Frankenstein got to be Frankenstein, »

Excl: What Can We Expect from Death Race 2 ?

16 November 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

The death race continues at Universal who is prepping Death Race: Frankenstein Lives for the DVD market. Last week came the news, direct from Death Race producer Jeremy Bolt, that production will begin in 2010 and that casting has begun for the new Frankenstein (aka Carl Lucas in this prequel). It's "an origin film, in every sense," says writer Tony Giglio. "Not simply of the Death Race or Frankenstein, but of [characters] Lists and Case." In Paul Anderson's remake, Lists and Case were played by Frederick Koehler and Natalie Martinez (pictured), respectively. We hope she's back, too. "I also took painstaking efforts to make certain that this prequel organically sets up a lot of the stuff that was in the original. Frankenstein is a bad ass. »

Start your engines: Prequel to ‘Death Race’ is greenlit

14 November 2009 1:19 PM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

A prequel to Paul W.S. Anderson’s Death Race has been given the go-ahead by Universal Studios. Penned by Tony Giglio and based on the story from Anderson, the upcoming straight-to-dvd feature will delve into the back-story of the masked and mangled Frankenstein, who was original played by the late David Carradine in the 1975 original film Death Race 2000.

Carradine provided Frank’s voice in Anderson’s Death Race.

Death Race was a marginal hit that made $75 million worldwide.

Production on the loosely titled Death Race 2 will begin after Anderson completes Resident Evil: Afterlife. He will serve in a producing capacity.

No word on a cast or who will be helming the project. We don’t care. As long as Natalie Martinez is back.

Jennifer Aniston, Lady GaGa and Bond Girls

26 October 2009 11:27 AM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

We all love Bond girls and we all love Jennifer Aniston. Sounds like a match made in heaven until one realizes that, whoa, Bond girls should be exotic, dangerous and reeking of sex. I don’t know about you, but Jennifer Aniston is a lot of things but smelling like sex is not one of them. She’s more of the “hot neighbor girl” kind of like Kaley Cuoco on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory.

Bond girl rumors spread almost as fast as villains for a third Batman and we have heard the same names over and over just like you. Angelina Jolie, Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto and even Salma Hayek, but the Jennifer Aniston rumor is a persistent one.

In March the former Friends star was asked by Elle magazine if she would have any interest in becoming a Bond girl in the next installment. The answer may »

Death Race Prequel is Being Written as I Type This

12 August 2009 8:31 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

The Jason Statham-starring “Death Race” remake made just south of $75 million in worldwide grosses from its $35 million dollar budget. Not exactly the bucks that would get people thinking sequel, but then again, you’re not a rich Hollywood executive in a fancy suit, because the studio has greenlight a sequel that will explore the history of the Frankenstein character. Or so says Styd, who reports that Tony Giglio has been hired to write the prequel script from a story outline by Paul W.S. Anderson, who directed the first movie, a remake of the Corman original. Giglio may also direct the sequel. His previous credits include writing and directing 2005’s “Chaos”, which also starred Jason Statham. Anderson’s “Death Race” starred Statham as a wrongly accused race car driver who must race in a prison system run by ice queen Joan Allen for his freedom. The film co-starred Ian McShane, »

Realitywanted.com gave a video interview (below) to Big Brother contestant Natalie Martinez. She's the one who knows Tae Kwon-Do. Ooh, lookout. In the interview she revealed her age, occupation, and stated that she's a big fan of Big Brother. She said she's watched every season. For some reason, though, she said she wants to be friends with everybody. She goes on to explain that in this game, you have to lie, cheat, and manipulate, but I somehow get a since that she might not be able to do it. I hear the words coming out of her mouth, but I don't really get a sense that she can really pull it off. Who knows, though. Maybe she'll prove me wrong. She said she still lives at home with her dad,and when she wins the $500,000, she'll buy a house. »

Relatively young contestants are gathered for the 11th edition of "Big Brother", with the oldest one being 41-year-old. Twelve strangers with different personalities will have to stand each other when they live under one roof for a number of days. A 13th mysterious guest will be added later to give an advantage to one of the cliques.

This time the House Guests will learn that they will be 'kickin it old school' way, high school to be exact. They will be shocked to learn that they will play the game in one of four familiar high school cliques - popular, athletes, brainiacs and off beats. They will compete for food, safety from eviction and luxury prizes as part of their clique.

"You may have graduated, but the truth is we never leave high school and this summer we are going to prove it," said Executive Producer Allison Grodner. "From the »

Twilight Saga Daily Dosage - 03/19/09

In today's issue of The Twilight Saga Daily Dosage, we tackle the issue of "smoking celebrities," take a look at the Vanity Fair shoot for the West Side Story, and can't help but find some humor in Ashley Green's reaction to a shirtless Taylor Lautner! The continuing story of The Twilight Saga: New Moon continues. So let's get right to it, shall we? "Smoking" New Moon Cast First off, let's be very clear about something: We all know that smoking is bad for your health, and I am in no way making an argument below that anyone should start smoking. As someone who smokes, I know just how addictive of a "habit" it is and I know the risks it causes to my health. As any smoker will tell you: it's better to never start smoking than it is to start and to then try and stop. So if you don't smoke, »
