Welcome to My Favorite Scene! In this series, IndieWire speaks to actors behind a few of our favorite television performances about their personal-best onscreen moment and how it came together.
In “Shōgun,” Kashigi Yabushige (Tadanobu Asano) is a man playing both sides and one side at once. The wily lord swears his allegiance to two masters: lords Ishido (Takehiro Hira) and Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada), the feuding members of Japan’s council of regents. When it appears the odds favor Ishido, Yabushige sides with him. When the tide turns back to Toranaga, Yabushige is happy to let the current sweep him away. So really, when it comes down to it, the Lord of Izu is only loyal to a single person: himself.
It’s fitting then, when asked for his favorite scene in “Shōgun,” that the actor bringing Yabushige to such shifty, spirited life zeroes in on a moment that reflects his character’s self-interests.

Famed horror mangaka Junji Ito made headlines during last weekend’s Comic-Con@Home for saying that Hideo Kojima had reached out to work on a new horror game together, but the artist has now walked back his statement, downplaying his meeting with the video game auteur. While Ito’s initial remarks made it sound like the mangaka and Kojima had a formal meeting about working together, the artist says it was much more casual than that.
“I said casually that I received an offer from Mr. Kojima, but in reality, it was a remark made at a party where he said, ‘If there is an opportunity, I may ask for your help.’ I apologize to Mr. Kojima and all of the fans to whom I may have given false hope,” Ito wrote on Twitter (via IGN).

The collaboration survival horror fans have been waiting for may finally be happening, according to famed mangaka Junji Ito, who confirmed that he’s been talking to video game auteur Hideo Kojima about working together on a new horror project, which has been the subject of much speculation since the release of Death Stranding last year.
Ito shared this tidbit while talking to Viz Media during this weekend’s Comic-Con@Home event, where he was asked whether he was currently working on any video game projects.
“So, the simple answer is no,” Ito’s translator Junko Goda told Viz Media. “However, I do know director Kojima and we have been in conversation that he might have a horror-based game that he may be doing, and so he has invited me to work on that, but there are no details on it yet.”
