Wesley Bales
- Additional Crew
Raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Wesley Bales dreamed of becoming a
filmmaker ever since working as an intern on a local TV commercial.
There, he befriended the Key Grip, who happened to be struggling with
melanoma, which inhibited his ability to be on set for certain outdoor
locations. From this man, Wes learned the value of life, and taking
each day as it comes. It has been speculated among those who know him
that his fascination with vampire stories stemmed from his relationship
with a man who had to avoid sunlight as much as possible.
At age 16, financial hardship in the family forced him to seek employment at PetSmart, where he worked long hours to help out the family with financial burdens. As a result, his school grades suffered, and his dreams of attending UNCSA for filmmaking seemed out of reach. However, at age 17 he won a local video-making contest for an anti-drug PSA at his school, which boosted his confidence and made him work harder to raise his GPA and give an outstanding interview at UNCSA.
Today, he is a sophomore at that film school, where he hopes to major in screen writing, as well as take additional academic courses in French Language and Eastern European art history. His hobbies include long walks, writing, playing Frisbee with friends, learning to play obscure instruments like the tambourine, and, of course, watching movies. His heroes include Frank Miller, Quentin Tarantino, Dolly Parton, Robert Rodriguez, and John McCain.
