Jahmil French, known for his role as Dave Turner in the hit Canadian series Degrassi: The Next Generation, has died, his representative Gabrielle Kachman confirmed to Deadline. He was 29.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of a dear friend and client Jahmil French,” Kachman said in a statement. “He will be remembered by many for his passion for the arts, his commitment to his craft, and his vibrant personality. I ask that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.”
A cause of death was not revealed.
Soundtrack creator Joshua Safran first shared the news of French’s passing on Twitter.
“I can confirm my good friend, co-worker, and all around inspiration, Jahmil French, passed away yesterday,” Safran wrote. “Only posting because I see the story getting out there. I will have more to say about him later.

From the producers of Degrassi, TeenNick’s new drama Open Heart introduces viewers to Dylan Blake (Karis Cameron), a young rebel on the hunt for her missing father — and TVLine has an exclusive new promo, introducing two (very familiar) key players.
First up is Mikayla, played by current Degrassi staple Cristine Prosperi. She’s perky, smart and appears to have Dylan’s best interests at heart. No concern there.
Then there’s Justin Kelly (aka Jake!) as Wes, who looks like he might be getting a little too close to the case… if you know what I mean, and I think you do.

Will ‘Fimogen’ dance for the last time (ever) at prom? Watch our exclusive clip from Friday’s ‘Degrassi’ special!
Prom night at Degrassi Community School is almost upon us! But judging from HollywoodLife.com‘s first-look clip from the June 21 Degrassi special, I’m thinking the theme of this year’s prom is ‘Nightmares,’ especially for fan-favorite couple Fiona (Annie Clark) and Imogen (Cristine Prosperi).
Degrassi has a storied history of sending its characters off to foreign lands — Darcy (Shenae Grimes) is chillin’ in Kenya, while Mia (Nina Dobrev) is strutting down runways in Paris — and it looks like Fiona might be booking a one-way plane ticket of her own soon.
In this preview clip, Fiona’s mom shares some huge news with her daughter that could potentially put “thousands” of miles between she and Imogen. Cue the drama.

Degrassi is finally letting go of its twelfth season when next week's finale ("The Time Of My Life") bids adieu to some of the most popular high schoolers in the TeenNick drama's history. But before the show premieres its thirteenth (!) season on a new night (Thursdays) beginning July 11th, there's still the turmoil of sending those seniors off in a dramatic blaze of glory—and if there's one thing those hallowed halls are good for, it's a healthy dose of drama.
Terron R. Moore sat down with the ladies of Fimogen—that'd be Annie Clark and Cristine Prosperi—to talk about the close of one of the most intense seasons yet, as well as what lies on the horizon for the series' most dependable characters. Spoilers are abound, including a reveal on which of the ladies will be back in session when the school bell rings on Season 13.

Eli gets some unlikely relationship advice from Connor in this clip from the April 5 episode of ‘Degrassi!’
Has “Eclare” finally gone stale? Eli (Munro Chambers) sure seems to think so! He admits in defeat in this new clip from the April 5 episode of Degrassi — obtained exclusively by HollywoodLife.com — and not even a pep talk from one of his best friends is able to lift him out of his deep depression.
Sensing his buddy is down in the dumps, Connor (A.J. Saudin) attempts to lift Eli’s spirits, and when it doesn’t work out, he reveals his ulterior motive: Eli’s breakup from Clare (Aislinn Paul) is apparently screwing up Connor’s relationship with Jenna (Jessica Tyler)!
I’m not quite sure how ‘Eclare’ calling it quits is having a negative impact on Connor and Jenna, and neither does Eli; he seems super skeptical.

(Spoiler alert: There will be matching prom dresses!)
“Fiona’s quite the designer, so she has some tricks up her sleeve for prom,” Annie revealed. “I think the fans will be really into the dresses.”
“Sequins, frills, all of it!” Cristine added. “We match. I think we look good as a couple.”

Good morning!
The Arrested Development documentary makers are seeking some finishing funds. I'm sure this will happen in no time.
Annie Clark, Cristine Prosperi and Degrassi producers Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn talked with EW and there are a lot of great tidbits about how Fiona wasn't intended to be a lesbian character but evolved into one, and the future of her relationship with Imogen. It's a must-read for Fimogen fans!
Jane Lynch went on Gwissues this week to talk about some upcoming roles. There's never enough of the Lynch.
Author Willa Cather's personal letters are about to be published and it sounds like lesbian rumors might be true. It also appears she was born on the same day as me, so clearly she must be gay. That's how it works.
Out comic artist Nicole Georges wrote about her teenage obsession with Kurt Cobain for NPR.

Someone's got her eye on Adam! Watch this exclusive 'Degrassi' preview clip for your first look at Adam's potential new girlfriend. With Becky (Sarah Fisher) away at "correction" camp, Adam (Jordan Todosey) is single and ready to mingle — which is good, because a cute girl gives him her phone number on the Nov. 19 episode of Degrassi! Watch an unfortunate scene from tonight's all-new 'Degrassi,' airing at 9 p.m. on Teen Nick. First impressions are crucial, especially when you're having lunch with your girlfriend's mom for the first time, as evidenced in this super-awkward preview from the Nov. 9 episode of Degrassi. Obtained exclusively by HollywoodLife.com, the clip finds Fiona (Annie Clark) crashing and burning during an unfortunate first outing with Imogen's (Cristine Prosperi) mother. Maybe someone should have told Fiona it's not smart to mention your mom's house arrest over sushi, though I kind of love how blissfully ignorant she is. ("You know how the IRS is; always overreacting when tax fraud is involved.") Never change, Fiona. Never change. Watch the clip from tonight's episode below, then drop a comment with your thoughts on the future of "Fimogen." Watch this exclusive sneak peek of Maya's performance on the Oct. 26 episode of 'Degrassi.' We all know Maya (Olivia Scriven) is crazy about Cam (Dylan Everett) — but is he the one she's singing about in this clip from the 300th episode of Degrassi? Either way, Mo (Jake Neayem) doesn't think she's got the sex appeal necessary for Whisper Hug to win the battle of the bands, so he suggests Imogen (Cristine Prosperi) take over the vocals, herself. Ouch! Maya later receives a much-needed injection of self-esteem from Bff Tori (Alex Steele) — but as Alex tells HollywoodLife.com, the well-intended plan sort of backfires in Tori's face. "Tori thinks Maya needs a little confidence boost, so she gives her a makeover … and she maybe boosts it a little too much," Alex teases. I'll have more scoop on Tori and Maya's fractured friendship tomorrow, but for now, enjoy the clip from...

Good morning!
Looks like we'll be getting some Fimogen time soon on Degrassi, as Cristine Prosperi tweeted this pic yesterday.
Sara Ramirez did a great interview with The Huffington Post about Calzona's current less-than-stellar situation. An excerpt:
At least from what I've seen and read, Arizona's very much about figuring this out by herself. And when someone wants to get through something like this on their own, without their partner's help, there's not a lot of space for their partner to play a part in that. So Callie is busying herself with Sophia and busying herself helping other people at the hospital because they're actually needing her, and are open to needing her help. Her situation at home ... it's not something that she knows a lot about. She doesn't know how to support and nurture an amputee, especially one that doesn't want her help.

Season 12 of Degrassi is back!
I know many of you are here mainly for the Fimogen, but unfortunately, there weren’t any scenes between Fiona and Imogen this week. Well, unless you count the time another character mentioned that Imogen was off-screen looking for the keys to a classroom, and we were left to assume that the reason she didn’t show up by the end of the scene is that Fiona distracted her! Oh, that was just in my head? Nevermind…
The good news, though, is that AfterElton’s Jim Halterman was able to get some scoop from Cristine Prosperi for us, so you can head over to read it while we wait for Fimogen’s turn to get screentime!
Now, onto Friday’s episode and what transpired for our Ae favorites, Fiona, Imogen, and Adam!

The compelling and soapy world of Degrassi shows no signs of slowing down and as new episodes begin airing tonight on Teen Nick. The long running series, which will soon hit episode #300, continues to delve out loads of social issues, conflict, drama and, of course, romance.
One of the hotter unions on the show’s canvas is between bisexual Imogen Moreno (played by Cristine Prosperi) and Fiona Coyne (Annie Clark). As the new episodes unfold, are we going to find Fimogen in a good place? What does Prosperi think of a potential matching of Imogen with transgender character Adam (Jordon Todosey)? And who’s responsible for Imogen’s funky, beyond-cute look?
AfterEllen.com went right to the source and grabbed some time with the delightfully bubbly Prosperi about all things Imogen and Fimogen.

Four mobsters from "The Sopranos" will have an on-camera reunion next year in a rather unlikely place -- Nickelodeon.
Steve Schirripa, Michael Imperioli, Tony Sirico and Vincent Curatola will all have roles in "Nicky Deuce," a Nick movie starring "iCarly's" Noah Munck and based on a children's book Schirripa co-wrote. Rita Moreno also stars in the film, along with "Degrassi: The Next Generation" veterans Cristine Prosperi and Cassius Creightney.
"Nicky Deuce" stars Munck as a teenager whose plans to attend math camp go awry and who ends up spending the summer with his uncle (Schirripa) in Brooklyn. He acquires a (false) reputation as a tough guy soon after arriving and has to figure out how to live up to the label.
Imperioli, Sirico and Curatola will all play characters that harken back to their roles on "The Sopranos."
"Nicky Deuce" is based on a children's book of the same name Schirripa wrote with Charles Fleming.

Editor's Note: Hey, ya'll! Currently on vacation but couldn't possibly forget about Degrassi! The recap is from both parts 1 and 2, and next week will resume night-by-night shenanigans. Plus, we talked to Sam Earle all about his departure from the show. Look for it all in finale week!
Imogen is working really hard on her set design for Romeo and Jules, and the weirdest thing you should know about this is that Imogen has a dad who's just as high on pixie dust as she is. And a dog, but he seems fine. Bad news is, unless Imogen can get someone to sponsor the play, she's not getting her big dream set. Munro Chambers Has Spoken! Credits!
Black-Haired Katie is screeching Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know" for no real reasons, so thank God Jake is there to interrupt that with some talk about greenery. Chemistry!
Jenna and Becky are inexplicably still friends or something,...
