Michael B. Jordan stars in the first trailer for the appropriately titled romantic drama “A Journal for Jordan,” directed by Denzel Washington.
The film is based on the memoir “A Journal for Jordan: A Story of Love and Honor” by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy. It follows the real-life story of First Sergeant Charles Monroe King, played by Jordan, who writes letters to his newborn son, also named Jordan, while he’s overseas. King was killed in Iraq in 2006, when his son was jus seven months old, but his wife Canedy, played in the movie by Chanté Adams, keeps all the poignant letters in a book for their son.
“A Journal for Jordan” is written by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Virgil Williams, who adapted the 2017 historical drama “Mudbound” from the novel of the same name. He earned a nod for best adapted screenplay at that year’s Academy Awards. Washington will direct...

Derek Kolstad, the scribe behind the “John Wick” series, has found his next big project: adapting the bestselling fantasy series “A Darker Shade of Magic” for Sony and mega-producer Neal Moritz.
Moritz’s Original Film and Gerard Butler and Alan Siegel’s G-Base productions acquired the rights to V.E. Schwab’s fantasy series back in 2016. G-Base’s Butler, Siegel and Danielle Robinson will produce alongside Original Film’s Moritz and Toby Ascher. Ange Giannetti and Maia Eyre will oversee the project for Sony.
The book is set in four parallel worlds, with four parallel Londons ruled by different magical powers and monarchies. There’s Grey London, where the people have been told that magic is a myth; Red London, where magic is embraced and thrives; White London, where magic is used by the rulers against it’s people; and Black London, where magic has overpowered the people and corrupted the world beyond repair.

Michael B. Jordan will star in Denzel Washington’s dramatic directorial effort, titled Journal for Jordan.
Michael B. Jordan has banked his share of blockbuster franchises, be it with a memorable villain turn in Marvel’s Black Panther, or the hit Rocky-spun-off Creed films, with even more intriguing projects on his docket. However, the actor just signed up to headline a drama, titled Journal for Jordan (no relation), directed by Denzel Washington, that serves as a heartfelt memoir to the sacrifices of our armed forces with a tragically broken bond between a father and son.
Sony Pictures is in talks with Jordan to star in Journal for Jordan, as reported by trades like Variety. The film will see Denzel Washington flex his sporadically-utilized directorial muscles for the film, working off a screenplay by Virgil Williams based off Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy’s 2008 non-fiction book, A...
