The creators of the quirky college comedy Community played it safe by writing the series' Season Five finale with a plot that could leave the show open to a renewal or put a tasseled cap on the show altogether. Then NBC canceled it. But now it seems like their prudence has paid off. In a turn of events, the show will come back for a sixth season in an unusual place: Yahoo! Screen. Series creator Dan Harmon is currently working on a 13-episode arc for the digital channel, according to Variety.

James Caan is coming to "Magic City."
The veteran actor will join the Starz in Season 2 as Sy Berman, the head of the Chicago mob and Ben Diamond's (Danny Huston) boss, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
But Caan is not the only "Magic City" addition. Esai Morales ("NYPD Blue," "Caprica") will also join the show, playing Carlos Ruiz, whose mission is to free Cuba, though he once fought beside Castro, THR reports. Jamie Harris is also heading to the Starz drama as Nicky Grillo, a cocaine-snorting mobster with a major temper.

A "Family Ties" alum heads to "CSI." Michael Gross, who played the Keaton patriarch on "Family Ties," will guest star on the CBS series as the president of the University where D.B. Russell's (Ted Danson) son is enrolled and his basketball coach is murdered. [TV Guide]
