CAA co-founder and former NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer dove into his controversial exit from the Comcast entertainment company in a recent freewheeling and honest interview with podcast hosts Amy Motta, Gloria Butler, Sloan Kivo and former ICM agent Risa Shapiro.
Meyer conceded on their OnTheRags podcast that he used poor judgment when he opted not to inform NBCU that he had settled a lawsuit over a past consensual affair, leading to his ouster from the company in 2020.
“Universal decided to fire me because I did not tell them that I had settled a potential lawsuit that named them,” Meyer said. “I hope I’m saying this right, but that’s exactly what happened, and it wasn’t a ‘Me Too’ situation. It wasn’t anything other than that.”

Ex-NBCUniversal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer opened up about his clouded departure from his former job in a wide-ranging podcast earlier this month, admitting to bad judgment while saying he didn’t begrudge his firing. A relaxed Meyer appeared in the OnTheRags podcast, a discussion with former ICM agent Risa Shapiro, Amy Motta, Gloria Butler, and Sloan Kivo. Meyer was not hesitant to talk about anything, including his long-rumored tattoos.and how life has changed since his departure from NBCUniversal, one of the top jobs in Hollywood.
Meyer was dismissed as NBCUniversal vice chairman in August 2020 after he disclosed that he made hush-money payments to a woman to cover up an old affair. A founder of CAA before helming NBCU, Meyer was one of Hollywood’s titans, making his fall from grace all the steeper.
Still, he’s maintained his perspective on things. “I just got back from Cannes,” Meyer said.

Mike Jelline, a rising star agent at ICM, has been named head of the agency's TV talent department.
The 33-year-old succeeds veteran ICM agent Leigh Brillstein, who has stepped down as chief of the department while extending her deal as senior vp at the agency.
ICM president Chris Silbermann said the leadership transition "couldn't have been more easy and natural."
"Leigh has been grooming Mike as her successor for years," he said. "Mike was already doing a lot of the department running; he is a natural leader."
In his new capacity, Jelline will report to Ted Chervin, ICM's head of worldwide television. Additionally, he will report to Toni Howard, executive vp and head of motion picture talent, "in recognition of the fact that there is so much fluidity between the worlds of film and television in today's marketplace," Silbermann said.
Since joining ICM in 1997 as an assistant under Nancy Josephson and Risa Shapiro, Jelline has built a solid client roster of actors on established and buzz-worthy new shows across all broadcast and major cable networks.

Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Connelly has signed with CAA. Connelly moved to the Century City agency after her former agent, Risa Shapiro, left ICM to form a yet-to-be-named management company with Melanie Greene. Shapiro will now manage Connelly, who is working on two films: a remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" with Keanu Reeves for Fox, and Focus Features' animated postapocalyptic nightmare "9" with Elijah Wood.
Connelly recently wrapped "He's Just Not That Into You", a film adaptation of the best-seller by Greg Behrendt, produced by Drew Barrymore's Flower Films for New Line. In 2002, Connelly earned numerous awards, including an Oscar, Golden Globe and British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award, for her role in "A Beautiful Mind". Her credits also include "Little Children" and "Blood Diamond".

Veteran ICM talent agent Risa Shapiro is leaving the agency to launch a management/production company with talent manager Melanie Greene.
The move has been facilitated by ICM, which is expected to continue to rep some of Shapiro's clients. Shapiro also is expected to continue to work with most of her clients in her new capacity.
Shapiro's client roster at ICM includes David Duchovny, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Zegers, Natasha McElhone and Amber Valletta.
Following Shapiro's exit from ICM, Connelly signed with CAA, but will be managed by Shapiro.
As an agent, Shapiro has shared clients with Greene, including Duchovny, who is managed by Greene.
"I am excited about my new business venture with my dear friend, Melanie, and, after 17 incredible years, I look forward to working with my colleagues at ICM in a new capacity," Shapiro said.
Greene has headed her own company, Melanie Greene Management and Prods. The name of her new venture with Shapiro, which will be housed in Greene's Los Angeles offices, is yet to be determined.
