We have just celebrated Christmas, and many are still in their celebratory mood. At such a time comes a movie that won’t go unnoticed – Merry Christmas. The title seems to be the first element for the film to create intrigue. Coming from the Sriram Raghavan vault adds to the curiosity. Apparently all Sriram Raghavan titles are noteworthy, they keep you thinking and compel to watch it. It does not end there; it is the lead cast that is the icing on the cake – Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi! The film is positioned in a semi retro style and the same is transported on screen.

After the Luke Kenny issue over him being retained in the sequel (which is still unclear), the film made news for the search of the 'perfect heroine'. This time round, the film is yet again in news because Abhishek Kapoor (who wrote and directed the original film), has now moved to the Bombay High Court against the makers of Rock On 2, claiming that he hasn't been credited for the story. The case which will come up for hearing today has Abhishek Kapoor seeking an injunction against Excel Entertainment to refrain from producing the movie, or even entering into any kind of third-party arrangements with the film. In addition to this, he has also sought that all the agreements signed till now for the...

For a while, the crew of Rock On have been contemplating on a sequel but even before the film went on floor, it has created a controversy. Apparently, the writer of the sequel Pubali Chaudhuri has been accused of denying credit to the other writer Abhishek Kapoor. Apparently, Pubali Chaudhuri, who had registered the script with The Film Writers Association, claimed that the script for the sequel was solely created by her. Abhishek Kapoor, who was also the director of the 2008 film Rock On was miffed when he wasn't given any credit and now it seems, that he has registered a complaint with the association for the same. Apparently, it seems that Abhishek was the one to have conceptualized the story and later, Pubali shaped it into a script. So the filmmaker is of the opinion that the two of them should deserve credit. Though Pubali did not comment on...

It is where hearts meet, auntyjis gossip and kids have a blast. Navratri shin-digs are the ‘it’ get togethers in the Desi calendar every year. It’s a nine day long festive period where everyone joins in daily for a night of song and dance. Apart from being the social get together of the year the festival has a strong religious meaning. It celebrates nine forms of Goddess Durga, one on each night, hence the name nav-nine ratri-nights. The 10th day is the festival of Dashera, marking the ultimate triumph of good over evil in Indian history.
Unlike any other usual festival, navratri songs and dance are specific. They have a distinct beat and the dance form adopted is garba or dandiya. The song and dance routine of the night, garba or dandiya, also have a strong historical backing as depicts the rasa-lila between Lord Krishna and the gopis of Vrindavan.

The movie opens with a crazy hilarious song from Chiranjeevi’s Kondaveeti Donga (a Telugu version of Michael Jackson’s famous zombie video song ‘Thriller’) and that pretty much sets the mood of the entire movie. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. give us our first zombie flick which we can be truly proud of in Go Goa Gone.
Like a true zom-com, Go Goa Gone doesn’t have a very particularly complex storyline. Hardik (Kunal Khemu) and Luv (Vir Das) two perpetual stoners hit rock bottom when one loses his job and the other his girlfriend. Looking for a break they both feel they deserve, Hardik and Luv join their third friend, the simpleton Bunny (Anand Tiwari of Jaago Re ad fame) to his business trip to Goa. Of course, their plan is simple. To get wasted on booze, drugs and girls. When they get invited to an exclusive rave...

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna Dk have been trailblazers for quite a while on the film scene. Widening the scope of the crossover market with their debut Flavours, to their sleeper hit with Shor in the City, the duo are now taking up the zombie film and their most genre-oriented film to date with Go Goa Gone. Following three slackers on their journey for the best party in Goa, and throwing zombies and the gun-toting Boris into the mix, Go Goa Gone looks to be a hilarious ride. The film is produced by Saif Ali Khan’s Illuminati Films and stars Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwari, Puja Gupta, and Khan as the wacky Russian, Boris. We caught up with Raj, who took the time out from editing, and promotions to chat about his and Dk’s creative process, the zombie genre, and the music.

Although Bollywood filmmakers have made a lot of movies over the past 100 years, none of them ever thought to tackle the zombie subgenre. Given the popularity of undead-related media right now, it’s not altogether surprising that filmmakers Luke Kenny and Devaki Singh are looking to capitalize on the action with their endeavor “Rise of the Zombie.” The film is the first of its kind for India’s movie industry. The directors are hoping that younger audiences will flock to theaters to catch what could be the first of many zombie flicks to be produced, filmed, and released in the country. Luke Kenny explained during a recent interview: We’ve been wanting to make something like this within the Hindi film industry set-up and we realized that within the horror film genre nobody has ever touched the zombie genre. Judging from the trailer below, Kenny and Singh are getting things started with a bang.

You are making India’s first Zombie movie, why did you decide to make this film?
Devaki and I are huge film fans…and horror being a particular favourite the whole gamut of the genre automatically fall into our scope. Zombie films being a huge and popular genre, are also very exciting to tell stories about.

Mumbai, Feb 13: Actor Luke Kenny, who plays the main lead in "Rise of the Zombies", said to be India's first zombie thriller, says keeping the story of the film simple was an exciting challenge for the team.
"It (The film) is a beginning of the story. It is the first part of a long story. It is part one of a zombie trilogy, which is going to be coming out in the years to come," Luke said here Tuesday at an event to promote the film.
"Every story should begin in a simple way and that is what we have tried. That has been the most exciting challenge - to keep it simple," he added.
In the film, Luke plays the role of Neil.

“As the story progresses, the gradual transformation into decay takes place”, says Luke Kenny as he talks about his look in the film Rise of the Zombie, India’s first zombie origin film in Hindi.
When a human being is swept into darkness and rot, he fights, he struggles to break himself free from it, before realizing, he is no match. Luke Kenny’s character, Neil Parker, has a similar tryst with the fury of an unknown force that results in his decadent appearance. Ritu Janjani, Luke Kenny’s make-up artist, had to show each degree of change in the character through the make-up. A 2-4 hour ordeal of applying and 45 minutes of removal time was spent for each of the stages of the character needing make-up. The final outcome is something to be believed once the movie hits theaters.
