“Dancing With the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance” will have some stiff competition this fall. Dance Network, the first network dedicated entirely to dance programming is set to launch. A combination of original and acquired programming, the Dn slate will include original shows such as “Steady Mobbin,’ ” a series centered around flash mobs; “Traveling Dancer,” a multicultural examination of dance all over the globe; and “To The Stage,” which will follow high school choir students as they compete. In addition, performances of classic choreography from the likes of the BBC and various film and television libraries will also be featured in the form of documentaries and both instructional and scripted programming. Dance styles will not be limited and will include everything from ballet and ballroom to country and hip-hop. “Every style of dance is a celebration of life,” said founders Julie Stadler and David Medeiros, in a statement.
