Eminem becomes the first artist to sell 1 million digital copies of his album in the United States. He scored the record-setting achievement after his latest solo album "Recovery" pulled in such a huge number in a cumulative download. Interscope Records' Vice Chairman Steve Berman called it "an incredible achievement by an incredible artist."
Responding to the Slim Shady's milestone, his manager Paul Rosenberg additionally said, "Over the years we've made a concerted effort to engage Em's online fan base, so this achievement is especially rewarding. Eminem made an amazing album with 'Recovery' and the fans responded in record numbers."
A follow-up to 2009's "Relapse", "Recovery" was released last June. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 200 with the first-week sales of 741,000 copies. It sat at number one for at least seven non-consecutive weeks, selling over 100,000 copies in each week of its first nine weeks. By the end of June this year,...

Hellebore and Rue is a collection of twelve short stories covering magic and the fantastical, with a couple of futuristic stories thrown in for good measure. As the title suggests, all feature queer women as the main characters although the focus on queer identity and how it relates to the narrative varies widely.
All of the stories prominently feature magic, and most of the writers break out of popularized (overused) magical tropes. There are no sexy vampires, and we get more complex approaches to witchcraft rather than the sort of suburban wicca which is all too common.

Although Eminem's "Recovery" has yet to leak, Interscope Records is already beating fans to the punch. They've announced that the album's release date would be pushed up by one day.
Originally scheduled to release Tuesday, June 22nd, the album will now hit stores on Monday, June 21st.
"We believe fans want to support their favorite artists by purchasing the real album and not a leaked version," said Steve Berman, Vice Chairman, Interscope Geffen A&M. "At the same time, we realize speed is of the essence when fans are so passionate about wanting to hear new songs from such an enormously popular artist like Eminem. "
"Even by releasing Recovery only a day earlier than previously announced, it makes a difference to those fans--and doesn't mess too much with our marketing, promotion, publicity and sales plans for the debut of a truly great album," Berman continued.

In disturbing news, major e-retailer Amazon.Com has removed sales ranks from books with Glbt content, many of them genre related. Books such as George Bennet Fain Pandora's Box, about gay vampires and shape shifters, Steve Berman's supernatural novel Vintage: A Ghost Story,, and doorQ.com Contributing Writer Duane Simolke's Degranon: A Science Fiction Adventure have had their rankings removed.
According to Publisher's Weekly, originally Amazon stated they were removing "erotic" books from the ranking. Indeed, blogger Mark R. Probst emailed Amazon asking for an explanation and was told by the company that:
