The mother of a female witness who testified Monday that Bill Cosby allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted her testified Tuesday that her daughter was depressed and anxious after the comedian allegedly “intimidated” her into taking a drug at the Bel-Air Hotel in 1996.
“She changed considerably… Anxious. Depressed. Sad,” Dr. Patrice Sewell, a retired educator, said of her daughter, Kelly Johnson, who testified Monday that Cosby allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted her when she was the assistant of his agent at the William Morris talent agency.
“She folded down on herself,” Sewell said, her voice shaking with emotion as she fought off tears.

“The Weeping Somnambulist” is taking its name off a humanitarian supply ship en-route to aid in the relief effort for Ganymede Station at the beginning of this chapter.
The opening of The Expanse Season 2 Episode 9 doesn’t hesitate to remind you there are large and looming questions this season.
What really happened on Ganymede—during the Earth-Mars military engagement And prior to those events?
And what is happening on Venus since Eros crashed there?
The title is a wordier way of saying “a crying sleepwalker" and that is almost an omen for how well-answered the lingering questions will be in this chapter.
Yes—the characters are all moving around the board, but they really won’t be passing “Go” just yet.
Well, this ship is a Grade-a piece of s*** but she’ll get us to Ganymede. I wouldn’t bet on it in a race, though…

Can't you just picture the inscription on a certain mighty Martian marine's tombstone?
"Here lies Badass Bobbie Draper. She was always spoiling for a fight. If she'd only heeded the age-old Earth adage: 'Be careful what you wish for, because you mIght get it," she might've lived a little longer.
No amount of mixed-martial arts or combat training looks enough to save Bobbie — lying wounded on Ganymede's surface with a cracked helmet — from whatever the hell that sentient being is, standing above her and looking seriously pissed off.
Bobbie Draper's apparent demise, along with the deaths of her comrades in her unit and aboard the Martian military ship, the Scirroco, was one of several threads featured on The Expanse Season 2 Episode 6.
There were so many, in fact, this may have been the series' most ambitious, if not stellar, hour. It went down like an overstuffed burger with everything on it — tantalizingly juicy and delicious looking,...

Conventional wisdom says no way the writers of this show kill off Joe Miller. How could they?
No. Freaking. Way.
No way would they throw down the gauntlet on the tragically hip ex-cop turned space cowboy with the boxing pedigree of Mickey Rourke's "Barfly" and the deadliest one-liners since Chevy Chase's "Fletch." Miller's the guy fans of this show tune in to see every week — the guy we all ask: what's he gonna do or say this week?
But after watching The Expanse Season 2 Episode 5 — a heart-rending, gut-wrenching tear-jerker if there ever was one — what else are we to think, after watching the sentient asteroid he hitched a ride on, with the only love of his life (or at least her consciousness) at the controls crash and burn on Venus?

Broadchurch’S Lawyers Couldn’T Hit The Broadside Of A Church
Sometimes there’s nothing for it but to put the unpleasantness front and center. This is one of those times. So, here comes an unpleasant:
Spoiler Warning!
I want to discuss the British police procedural TV show Broadchurch and there’s no way I can do that without massive spoilers on both seasons of the show. Spoilers along the lines of Spoiler Alert! not just revealing that Darth Vader was Luke’s father but doing it before the Star Wars came out.
Broadchurch is set in the small, seaside British village of Broadchurch, which explains why the show wasn’t called Bexhill-On-Sea. The first season started with the murder of Danny Latimer, a local eleven-year-old local boy then centered on the investigation by Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and Detective Sargent Ellie Miller of said murder. (Wait, who said murder?...

The second series of Broadchurch is out today (March 16) on DVD - a follow-up to ITV's hit 2013 whodunnit, the latest episodes saw Di Alec Hardy (David Tennant) and DS Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) work to lay ghosts of the past to rest, as Miller's husband Joe was put on trial for the murder of young Danny Latimer.
In a conversation with Digital Spy, actress Jodie Whittaker - who plays Danny's grieving mother Beth - reflects (with spoilers) on series two, revealing why she doesn't care about reviews and why she's not worried about spoiling series 3.
Given the immense secrecy that always surrounds Broadchurch, is it a relief to be able to talk about series two?
"Yes! There's always something: first of all, the cast was a secret, and then the trial, and then obviously the verdict. I mean, there are still people who have yet to see it on catch-up,...

This review is based off the first four episodes of season two, which were provided to us prior to broadcast.
There didn’t need to be a second season of Broadchurch. The first series of episodes from 2013 didn’t just spawn a quick series of dreary, Europe-based crime show imitators involving youths in a small town, but crossed the pond to the point that Fox aired a blander American variation last fall. (It was titled Gracepoint, which I reviewed for ten inconsistent weeks.) Daniel Latimer’s murder seemed to be wrapped up pretty tightly by the end of season one, with nary a loose corner in sight.
So, when a second season was announced, one wondered where the show could go from here. Would it explore the aftermath of the investigation and its effects on the divided cliffside town? Would the community be the center for yet another whodunit?
Well,...

Chris Chibnall has hit back at Broadchurch critics, defending series two's portrayal of the trial process.
In a column for The Guardian, the writer insisted that the ITV thriller's latest episodes - which saw Joe Miller (Matthew Gravelle) on trial for murder - were "devised as the result of months of research and consultation".
"Before we started to plot or write, we researched trials of the past 20 years and attended criminal proceedings," he explained. "Alongside a respected police adviser from the first series, we brought on highly-qualified, experienced and practising members of the legal profession.
"Critics argued the defence wouldn't be allowed to suggest Mark Latimer (Andrew Buchan) as an alternate killer. Our advisers were - and remain (I checked) - adamant on this: if they were defending, they could and would run this approach.
"Others thought the cross-examination of Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) in the witness box was unrealistic: our police adviser told me,...

The morning after screening the first four episodes of the sophomore season of “Broadchurch,” I noted my initial impressions on Twitter, an assessment of which I am only more convinced after a few days of reflection. “Review: ‘Broadchurch,’ Season Two,” I wrote. “Kill it. Kill it with fire.” Having spent the five months since I reviewed the extraordinary first season praising the small-town mystery to everyone who would listen, a bit of hyperbole seems only fair: shunning the unassuming precision of its debut for high dudgeon and overwrought dramatics, the crime drama, which returns to BBC America Wednesday, is now but a shell of its former self. Read: “‘Gracepoint’ vs. ‘Broadchurch,’ or the Problem with Remakes” The new season courts the danger of high expectations from the opening minutes, setting the table for the trial of accused child molester and murderer Joe Miller (Matthew Gravelle) with a superb, fleet-footed sequence...

On its second go-around, Broadchurch has split viewers and critics - some were left underwhelmed by the new series of Chris Chibnall's coastal crime thriller, while others were still hooked every Monday night.

At the end of the first series of Broadchurch we finally had the answer to a twisting-turning whodunit.
Joe Miller (Matthew Gravelle), paramedic husband of Di Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman), confessed to the murder of Danny Latimer, and we the viewers saw how it all panned out in an eerie flashback.
What looked like an open and shut case has become something very different in the last seven weeks.
After Joe's shock not guilty plea in the first episode, the failings of the prosecution case - procedural rather than in matters of truth or falsehood - have been unravelled by Sharon Bishop QC (Marianne Jean-Baptiste).
So tenacious has Sharon been, that it seems entirely likely that in next week's finale, Joe Miller could be found not guilty.

After making false claims about his time spent in Iraq in 2003, NBC News anchor Brian Williams has apologized, but the furor over his comments has yet to settle. While some reports have claimed that fellow NBC anchor Tom Brokaw wants Williams fired, he has denied the claim. "I have neither demanded nor suggested Brian be fired," Brokaw said in a statement to The Huffington Post. "His future is up to Brian and NBC News executives." Still, Williams, 55, is not safe from controversy. The two pilots from Williams's helicopter, Christopher Simeone and Allan Kelly, told The New York Times that their chopper was safe from fire.

NBC Nightly News host Brian Williams has come under metaphorical fire this week for a story he told David Letterman in 2013 about coming under actual fire while embedded with soldiers serving in Iraq in 2003. Williams initially claimed that he was on board a Chinook helicopter that came under enemy fire and went down. He repeated the story during a recent segment that focused on Tim Terpak, a now-retired Army Sgt. Maj. who was present in the rescue team that came to the aid of Williams and others. The story was posted on Facebook, at which point Lance Reynolds, the flight...

Will Joe Miller escape justice? Who killed the girls at Sandbrook? What's the deal with those bluebells? What's going on between Claire and Lee Ashworth? And between her and Alec Hardy?
Broadchurch series 2 is halfway done and we've got even more questions now that we did at this point in 2013.
At this crucial juncture, Digital Spy spoke to Eve Myles, who plays Claire, about joining ITV's smash-hit series and keeping secrets - just don't expect her to give up any spoilers!
Did you get hooked on the first series of Broadchurch like everybody else?
"Yes - I watched the first series and I was slightly obsessive about it. I loved it - and once I'd watched the last episode, I was such a fangirl that I then re-watched it all over again, just to see how the wool had been pulled over my eyes so well.

With spiralling plots and returning characters retreading old ground, Broadchurch’ second series is really starting to flounder…
This review contains spoilers.
Increasingly, Broadchurch’s second run is starting to feel less like a drama in its own right, and more like a set of specially filmed DVD extras to accompany the first series. Previously unseen Broadchurch trial footage! Hear witness testimony from your favourite characters! Click here for the juicy alternate killer! Exclusive documentary special: what really happened in Sandbrook…
As such, it’s diverting for rabid fans, but not compelling enough to stand alone.
That sense was compounded this week by the return of Susan Wright (Pauline Quirke), who threw one of plumber Nige’s spanners in the works by testifying that it was her estranged son and not Joe Miller she saw placing Danny’s body on the beach. Why land her boy in it? Either Susan still thinks he did it,...

Broadchurch’s many plot lines coalesce this week into an episode that, Eastenders villains aside, is thought-provoking and moving...
This review contains spoilers.
It’s taken three episodes, but weaving the Sandbrook case in to Broadchurch’s second series has finally served a purpose other than tantalisation. Up until now, the Claire/Lee subplot has been a juicy diversion, a narrative trick to keep our heads bouncing excitedly from side to side like a crowd at a tennis match. This week though, Sandbrook really started to pull its weight.
The penny dropped for me in that moment of enlightening irony when Miller called Hardy a fuckwit and reeled off the reasons that make Claire a viable suspect in the Sandbrook murders. Ellie’s arguments - proximity, inconsistencies of story, likelihood of collusion - are exactly those being used against her by Joe’s defence team, arguments we know not to be true.

Broadchurch series 2 is becoming more soap-like by the episode, not that it's any less compelling viewing...
This review contains spoilers.
Now more thrilling fairground ride than compassionate drama, Broadchurch kept the narrative spins and drops coming this week while we all held on tight and tried not to lose our lunch. We’d have been in good company had we done so, because everybody was losing something. The case against Joe lost his confession, Grandma Liz (Rip) lost her part, Hardy lost his Sandbrook witness, and Beth lost her mucus plug as her waters broke all over DS Miller.
‘If in doubt, have a woman go into labour’ is to soap opera what Raymond Chandler’s ‘if in doubt, have a man walk in holding a gun’ is to crime writing, proving what soapy stuff Broadchurch’s second series is. Its dialogue swims in exposition and cliché (on the stand,...

Broadchurch actor Arthur Darvill has compared the level of secrecy during filming to going undercover as a spy.
During an appearance on This Morning today (Wednesday, January 7), Darvill's co-star Matthew Gravelle also revealed the lengths that he went to in hiding the fact that he was appearing in the second series.
Gravelle plays Joe Miller, the character who was revealed to be Danny Latimer's killer at the end of the first series. His role in series two of the hit crime drama was only unveiled when the premiere episode aired on Monday night (January 5).
Speaking about how he kept his return under wraps, the actor said: "I had to be in different hotels, because if I was associated with the rest of the cast, then I'm in it… if people put two and two together."

During an appearance on Lorraine, the actor spoke about needing to wear a disguise on set to avoid being spotted.
Gravelle, who plays Danny Latimer's killer Joe Miller in the ITV crime drama, said: "Actually when we were filming, I did have to go around in a wig and glasses with my hood up, just in case."
He also said that although he hasn't received any negative responses from the public after being revealed as Danny's killer, he did need to warn his children that it was "pretend".
Gravelle said: "The [children] get it, they just know that [acting is] what we [me and my wife] do and they know it's pretend so they're not affected by it.

It was worth the wait, wasn't it? After nearly two years of speculation, a month of mysterious adverts on loop on ITV and CIA-esque level of secrecy surrounding the plot, Broadchurch series 2 finally arrived last night.
As writer Chris Chibnall promised, this wasn't simply another murder mystery whodunnit in the same town. In fact, it's quite the contrary - it's a can-you-prove-he-did-it.
Oh and that little case in Sandbrook that tormented Di Alec Hardy in series one. Yes, that reared up again.
At the end of the opening hour, we were left with questions piled on top of questions, and with a week to wait before we get episode two, here are the 20 most burning matters that we'll be mulling over until next Monday.
1. Why did Joe plead 'not guilty'?
"The evidence against you is clear."
"Not just me. Everyone... Nobody's innocent, Paul. Everyone's hiding things."
The exchanges between Joe Miller and Rev.

Broadchurch series two eases back into its investigation with clockwork-precise plotting and characteristically strong performances…
Warning: this review contains spoilers.
Emerging mercifully intact from under the geological pressure of its own success, the first hour of Broadchurch series two was a work of expert manipulation. Chris Chibnall’s script orchestrated the audience response with a conductor’s precision, sweeping down his baton before each ad break, cueing a collective gasp or note of creeping suspicion. The end result? We’re all hooked of course. As was ITV’s plan.
The first episode was more a mathematical achievement than anything else. Its geometric design neatly re-erected Broadchurch’s major playing pieces, unpacked a box of newcomers and strung up lines of enquiry between them all leading off into the horizon.
The hour reminded us - a little too forcefully and too often perhaps - that nobody’s innocent and everybody’s hiding things.

Denzel Washington turns 60 today, and in his lifetime he’s played a lot of badasses. From Jake Shuttlesworth in He Got Game to Det. Alonzo Harris in Training Day, his characters have had a rough-and-tumble in history that’s given the Washington a reputation for being one of the grizzliest actors in the game. However, alongside that, he’s also been stacking his filmography with roles that’ve required of him inspiring speeches, self-sacrifice, and subtle sweetness, the kinds of roles that’ve essentially made him a kind of Hollywood father figure.
Who wouldn’t want an old man who could put you into place in one profound speech or risk his entire life just to ensure your safety? In celebration of his birthday, here are five times you wished Denzel Washington was your dad.
That time he brought together a segregated football team in Remember the Titans (2000).

George Rr Martin made an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 but not for the reason most fans would think. While “Game of Thrones” has rocketed Martin to a level of fame rare for authors, his body of work stretches over four decades. The story is set far, far future and our sun is finally going out. A small remnant of humanity is left and they’ve retreated into an underground bunkers, living a hedonistic lifestyle of leisure while tunnels below them are lost in darkness. Martin describes it as “A baroque horror almost.” “Skin Trade” is a horror framework housing a hard-boiled noir story.
