Lulu(1998-2008)
- Actress
Born on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 1998 in the Santa Clarita Valley,
California, to father, Lassie VIII, mother Star and Godfather Bob
Weatherwax (owner and trainer of Lassie), Lulu, a full-sized Collie,
was adopted at eight weeks old by actress, Marina Anderson who also
trained Lulu. She was sister to the current Lassie (IX). Lulu passed
away March 25, 2008 in the arms of her "mom".
The spitting image of her sable colored brother (Lassie IX), Lulu was
hand-command, verbal and spelling trained to perform may tricks (go to
a mark, recall, lie down, down stay, sit, sit stay, on your side, paw
up/shake, sit up, speak, roll over, circle around, back up, fetch toys,
'go to', 'talks' on the phone and to people, is great in the car. Lulu
was also a Service Dog with AKC Canine Good Citizen Program and Therapy
Dog certification, which gave her entrée to hospitals, nursing homes
and other places where a healing presence and friendly face was needed
and welcomed.
A funny, loving personality and natural ham, hey, it runs (pardon the
pun) in the family, Lulu was totally comfortable on set with noises and
in front of the camera. Lulu loved grown-ups, babies, kids, horses,
cats, other dogs, squirrels.
Marina was listed as an animal trainer with the Local 399 and worked in
association with other animal companies such as A2Z Animals to suit
production needs and requirements. Marina is also a member of the
Screen Actors Guild and has worked on-camera with Lulu in many
productions.
