“The funniest movie I have seen in a long time” – Roger Ebert
A Fish Called Wanda will be available on Blu-ray October 3rd from Arrow Video
In 1988, John Cleese, former Python and the mastermind behind Fawlty Towers, teamed up with the veteran Ealing Comedy director Charles Crichton (The Lavender Hill Mob) to produce another classic of British comedy.
Cleese plays Archie Leach, a weak-willed barrister who finds himself embroiled with a quartet of ill-matched jewel thieves – two American con artists played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Kevin Kline, Michael Palin’s animal-loving hitman and London gangster Tom Georgeson – when Georgeson is arrested. Only he and Palin know the whereabouts of the diamonds, prompting plenty of farce and in-fighting as well as some embarrassing nudity and the unfortunate demise of some innocent pooches…

Though her examination of the Hollywood Hills burglaries, The Bling Ring, was a major disappointment in terms of its inability to explore the motivations of its subjects, director Sofia Coppola is still an undeniably interesting and talented filmmaker – her films Lost in Translation and Somewhere are considered modern classics for a reason. Now, Coppola is gearing up for her next project, working on the script for an adaptation of Alysia Abbott’s Fairyland: A Memoir Of My Father.
American Zoetrope Productions, which is owned by Coppola’s father, Francis Ford Coppola, has snagged the rights to Fairyland and set Coppola to co-write the screenplay with Andrew Durham. The pair previously worked together on Coppola’s short film debut, Lick the Star.
Coppola will also produce alongside her brother Roman Coppola, who co-wrote the script for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom.

This year Sofia Coppola turned in The Bling Ring, a more upscale version of Spring Breakers, but simply based on real-life events of spoiled, despicable teenagers. Sadly the film wasn't quite as good as the aforementioned film from Harmony Korine, in large part to a performance from James Franco. Now Coppola is going in a completely different direction with an adaptation of Fairyland, an adaptation of Alysia Abbott's memoir of the same name. Coppola will co-write the adaptation with Andrew Durham, a photographer who has frequently worked with Coppola. However, Coppola isn't attached to direct just yet. Here's the official synopsis for the book: After his wife dies in a car accident, bisexual writer and activist Steve Abbott moves with his two-year-old daughter to San Francisco. There they discover a city in the midst of revolution, bustling with gay men in search of liberation—few of whom are raising a child.

London -- The northern English city of Bradford has scored a global first by being named the first ever United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization City of Film.
Unesco, which selects world heritage sites, named Bradford as part of the organization's Creative Cities Network after submissions from the city's council.
Bradford is now only the third British city -- after Edinburgh City of Literature and Glasgow City of Music -- to receive a Unesco designation as part of its Ccn.
Oscar-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy, a Bradford native, said the Unesco recognition is "testimony to the city's dedication to the film and media industry."
Bradford boasts the National Media Museum, is part of regional funding body Screen Yorkshire and also plays host to an annual film festival.
