- Ironically, despite holding animosity towards him, Greig was instrumental in on-boarding almost the entire full-strength West Indies team for Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket, his negotiations being directly with 4 of West Indies' most prominent stars namely skipper Clive Lloyd, pace legends Michael Holding and Andy Roberts and incumbent World Number 1 ranked batsman Vivian Richards.
