Epic account of stock trading excess starring Leonardo DiCaprio under fire for mocking cerebral palsy
• Video: The Wolf of Wall Street star Jonah Hill: 'A part of every one of us wants everything'
• John Patterson: The Wolf Of Wall Street has no moral centre? So what!
Martin Scorsese's financial-era-excess movie The Wolf of Wall Street has come in for yet more criticism – this time from disability-advocate organisations who have protested at its use of the "R" word and its suggestion of drug-induced "cerebral palsy" type behaviour.
Peter Berns, CEO of disability group the Arc and Stephen Bennett, president and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy, issued a joint statement saying: "The Wolf of Wall Street is getting a lot of attention for how it offends audiences on many levels, but one aspect that hasn't been discussed is its use of the R-word and its unacceptable mockery of people with cerebral palsy.

Martin Scorsese's Wolf of Wall Street is under fire once again -- this time, for comparing drug-induced behavior to having cerebral palsy. "The Wolf of Wall Street is getting a lot of attention for how it offends audiences on many levels, but one aspect that hasn't been discussed is its use of the R-word and its unacceptable mockery of people with cerebral palsy. Hollywood just doesn't seem to get it," said Peter Berns, CEO of The Arc, a group that serves people with disabilities, in a joint statement on Monday with Stephen Bennett, president and CEO of United

I'm not an expert on comics, but the fact that X-Men: Generation Hope is leapfrogging the whole mutants-as-gays metaphor and dealing directly with gay teen suicide seems incredibly important.
Three years after filming began, Joss Whedon's A Cabin in the Woods with Chris Hemsworth has a release date of April 13, 2012.
The nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards have been announced. Beyond Lady Gaga, I'm not seeing a lot of Glbt representation. I am seeing a lot of anti-gay representation, like Tyler The Creator, Eminem, and knowing I'll anger half the readers, Katy Perry and Nikki Minaj, who I think use and abuse the community.
When Prince William and Kate flew commercial (the horror!) from Los Angeles to London, the in flight entertainment system wasn't working, so they were offered vouchers for travel or $300 credit at duty free. Having evidently resolved to always fly private in the future, they took the shopping spree.

When it gets hot, power companies can be pushed to the brink, but knowing when everyone is going to blast their AC at the same time can help them plan for all eventualities.
There's no getting around it; the number of extreme weather events has significantly increased over the past few years. Heat waves--along with their accompanying droughts and strains on the electrical grid--are some of the most common extreme weather phenomena. And with $485 billion a year of U.S. economic output affected by the weather, it's important to have a handle on when different regions are going to get hit with record high temperatures.
EarthRisk Technologies, a San Diego-based startup, thinks it can predict these events up to 40 days in advance (compared to standard two-week predictions), and potentially help energy companies prepare for a power grid strained by air conditioners.
The startup announced this week the release of HeatRisk,...

Duffy has had a variety of Welsh daffodil named after her. The Royal Horticultural Society (Rhs) has christened the flower, which will be unveiled at its show in Cardiff this April, the Duffydil. According to ITN, the 24-year-old chose her namesake from a selection grown by the Really Welsh Trading Company. She said: "The Duffydil, brilliant.
