- Melanie Hawkins was born in Alexandria, Virginia. When she was a child she studied ballet and went on to dance professionally for The Sarasota Ballet Company, Ballet Eddy Toussaint, and The Hartford Ballet Company. After an injury took her away from dance Melanie transitioned to acting and received her BFA in Theatre at the Hartt School in Connecticut. Shortly after graduating she moved to Los Angeles and began auditioning for film and television. In 2005 she booked her first guest star on a television series and then a supporting role in the feature film Wedding Crashers. - At 12 years of age, Melanie Hawkins was chosen to join THE BALLET DE MONTRÉAL EDDY TOUSSAINT in Quebec. She was discovered by Toussaint while at the Sarasota Ballet of Florida which he started himself while in the USA on his Visa. With two international summer workshops and galas, he brought in teachers and ballet stars from all over the world.
