Freestyle Releasing has acquired U.S. rights to Yam Laranas’ horror film The Road, which it will release day-and-date in theaters in 16 markets and on digital platforms on May 11. Photos: Europe's Horror Fetish The film, in Filipino and English, involves the investigation into a 12-year-old case that is reopened when three teenagers vanish on an abandoned road. The deal was brokered by Mark Borde, Co-President of Freestyle Releasing and Susan Jackson, CEO of Freestyle Digital Media with Annette Gozon-Abrogar of Gma Films and Laranas, who is also a producer of the film.

Freestyle Releasing and Freestyle Digital Media will give Filipino thriller "The Road" a day-and-date theatrical and VOD release May 11. Directed by Yam Laranas ("Sigaw"), "The Road" begins when three teenagers vanish on an infamous abandoned road. Investigators unearth the road’s past that includes a two-decade history of abduction, crimes and murder. "The Road" is an official selection at the 30th Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, which begins April 5. Mark Borde, co-president of Freestyle Releasing, and Susan Jackson, CEO of Freestyle Digital Media, made the deal with Annette Gozon-Abrogar of Gma Films and Laranas.
