London-based outfit The Mise En Scène Company has taken global rights to “The Magnificent Meyersons” as part of its European Film Market slate.
Directed by Evan Oppenheimer, “The Magnificent Meyersons” is a New York-set family drama with a sci-fi twist. Its cast includes Kate Mulgrew, Lauren Ridloff, Daniel Eric Gold (“Ugly Betty”) and Richard Kind.
The story centers on a day that starts out like any other, full of small hostilities, self-doubt, moments of tenderness, and the other quotidian battles and joys that comprise a normal day in the big city. But on this day, perhaps the most significant scientific revelation in human history takes place, and the discovery will affect the everyday life of each member of the family in a different way.

Exclusive: Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment has secured all worldwide rights to the international thriller and started talks with Afm buyers.
Akan Satayev directed the film from Sanzhar Sultanov and Timur Zhaksylykov’s screenplay about three young coders who fall foul of the authorities and the shadowy operators behind their criminal paymasters.
Hacker shot in New York, Hong Kong, Toronto and Bangkok and stars Callan McAuliffe, Lorraine Nicholson, Daniel Eric Gold and Clifton Collins Jr.
Sultanov’s production company Know Rules Media produced with Satayev’s SataiFilm. Loudon Owen and Jai Khanna from Brillstein Entertainment Partners are the executive producers.
“We were immediately intrigued by Hacker because it is very topical and timely,” said Electric’s head of international distribution Sonia Mehandjiyska. “It deals with a scary situation that could unfortunately become a reality for all of us one day.”

The personal and the professional have a way of merging for the Reagans of "Blue Bloods."
Such was the case again in "Lost and Found," Friday's (Oct. 25) episode of the CBS police drama written by co-executive producer Daniel Truly. Frank (Tom Selleck) was alarmed to learn Father Markhum (Frank Wood, "The Newsroom"), the NYPD's chaplain, had been stopped for driving while intoxicated ... "the fourth time in two months," police chief Dino (John Ventimiglia) revealed.
The clergyman had rear-ended another car, and Frank worried that intervening would appear to be favored treatment -- something the arresting officer already had furnished by letting the priest sleep off his condition. And Frank realized such handling was "the reason I never heard about the other three Dwi's."
Later, Frank entered a confessional to talk to the chaplain, and told him to turn himself in: "Even priests do penance, Jerry."

Marc Meyers’ “Harvest” is the most elegantly written, sensitively portrayed movie so far this year. Powerful and life-affirming, it is a film that no adult can afford to miss.
The plot, if it can be called that, is so simple and universal, it feels as natural as life itself. An old man named Siv (Robert Loggia) is dying, and three generations of his family gather together to be with him in his last few months.
The scenario’s been played a million times over — but then most cinematic plots return time and time again. What makes Meyers’ story different is an authenticity that feels so real it’s hard to believe we’re watching a film at all.

The Tribeca Film Festival is in full swing and Last Night is one of the entries with a couple of big names...and lots of pretty:
Keira Knightley and Sam Worthington play a Manhattan married couple, apart from each other for one night and each tempted by an attractive outsider. Eva Mendes and French actor Guillaume Canet (who I initially thought was Patrick Dempsey with a bad accent) play the enticing potential bedmates. Though it seems like a simple tale of a married couple tempted to stray, I've read a couple of reviews that intimate the film is more than the sum of this trailer, which has the requisite pensive feel and moody piano. I'm not a huge Keira Knightley fan, but she is a standout in the clip and she's receiving great reviews for her performance. Plucky little accent!

Fresh "Last Night" clip is now available online. In the one-minute video, Keira Knightley's Joanna has a dinner with Griffin Dunne's Truman in a local restaurant, where she is pressed with questions about her personal life and her husband.
The drama movie centers on Knightley's Joanna and Sam Worthington's Michael Reed. After attending one of Michael's business parties, Joanna notices a curious moment between him and his co-worker Laura, who is portrayed by Eva Mendes. The happily married couple then is tempted to stray as Michael goes on a business trip with Laura while Joanna encounters her past love, played by Guillaume Canet, at home.
Massy Tadjedin serves behind the lens and writes the scripts for the film. Meanwhile, Stephanie Romanov, Scott Adsit, and Daniel Eric Gold are among other actors supporting the movie. "Last Night" will have limited release in the U.S. on May 6.

Some television series sabotage themselves by completely missing the boat on what they need to be to stay relevant. Ugly Betty ensnared a niche of interested viewers from its outset for being a campy show with a plucky wit about a girl out of her element and slowly making it her own. It was an odd mix between the Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Devil Wears Prada, but possessed none of the clever spirit of either and going overboard in melodrama that ultimately robbed it of any real comedic value. For fans who stayed true to the fourth and final season, it essentially gave them closure to a lot of the plotpoints they saw coming in the seasons that preceded it, and let them down easy for its early departure.

I miss Ugly Betty. I watched the show religiously every week on Thursday nights, but dropped off in the final season when it moved nights. As I watched the episodes for the final season DVD, I realized how much I missed this show, with its crazy characters and even crazier storylines.
I know that the ratings tapered off in the third and fourth seasons and I wonder if it’s because the storylines got a little bit Too crazy. But if you watch the season four episodes you’ll realize that the show’s heart is still there. I know that the series ended on a somewhat ambiguous note, with Daniel and Betty meeting up in London, England. AfterElton.com editor Michael Jensen posted his Hot 100 picks a few weeks ago in the Best Gay Week Ever column, but it turns out that the other writers around here have very different tastes in men. We didn't want you thinking Michael's picks were the de facto "official" AfterElton.com selections or anything. Michael's drunk enough with power already.
So we rounded up the Hot 100 selections from all the peons as well. There are some surprises here – and very little overlap. Several of us went for unadulterated beefcake, but a few of our writers (no doubt the more insecure ones!) are clearly trying to impress you with a few highbrow and cerebral choices thrown in.
Check 'em out and see what you think. Who's list comes closest to your own?

Filming might be over, but Ugly Betty cast members still had Betty on the brain at Axelle Fine Arts Gallery in New York City Monday during a charity auction for Save the Children. America Ferrera, an ambassador for the nonprofit group, and other cast members came out to help auction off original paintings featured in the episode "The Passion of Betty" in hopes of funding the construction of a school in Mali. "I believe children all over the world deserve a chance at bettering their lives and their situations," Ferrera said. But before handing off pieces of Betty history to the highest bidders,...

Betty and the others are off to the Bahamas tonight on Ugly Betty, but it's no vacation when work and romance collide. If that's not enough pressure and excitement for our characters, there are several major guest stars appearing on the episode to increase the hype.
"The Bahamas Triangle" refers to the love problems Betty (America Ferrera) has been having with Matt (Daniel Eric Gold) and Amanda (Becki Newton). Their own triangle explodes in chaos, dragging the rest of the others with them. More pairings arise, from these three to Marc to even Wilhelmina (Vanessa Williams).

It's time to get ugly again, and we don't mind that one bit if it means Ugly Betty is back for its fourth season. Tonight marks the premiere of a two-hour episode that will certainly get the attention of fans. Not just fans of the series, but also fans of butterflies. Or both, whatever suits your fancy.
Anyway, the new episode of Ugly Betty is titled "The Butterfly Effect," and it's not about that freaky Ashton Kutcher movie that made me fear homicidal children. Tonight's installment is a wave of change. Betty's (America Ferrera) embarking on her new job as associate features editor but the challenges are already flooding in. The biggest one yet is facing her boss, ex-boyfriend Matt Hartley (Daniel Eric Gold).

The 90s, in case you thought they ever went away, are most certainly back. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy, two actors who peaked in the 90s and have stuck around ever since, will star together in Cafe, a drama to be written about directed by Marc Erlbaum. The movie sounds basically like an ensemble drama version of Friends, following a group of Philadelphians who all meet at the same coffee shop where Hewitt's character works. Rounding out the cast, according to Variety, are Alexa Vegas, Madelin Carroll, Daniel Eric Gold and Hubble Palmer. The movie started filming on May 11, which I guess means Kennedy and Hewitt will have to hustle their way over to the set right now. Just remember, guys, you're not heading to Central Perk -- it's West Philly Grounds now.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy will star in Cafe, which is as far as I can tell an ensemble piece about a bunch of Philadelphia residents who frequent a coffee shop where Love Hewitt's character works. Marc Erlbaum (Head Space) writes and directs. Jamie Kennedy, Alexa Vega, Madeline Carroll, Daniel Eric Gold and Hubble Palmer were all also cast. It is depressing that I don't care about this chick's work but instead wrote up the story for the pictures I'd need to post. And then found...

Jennifer Love Hewitt is making her way back to the big screen! The gorgeous 30-year-old actress has been absent from starring roles since Garfield in 2004 and its sequel in 2006. Love Hewitt has joined the cast of the film Cafe, an indie ensemble drama from writer-director Marc Erlbaum (via THR). Also a part of the ensemble cast are Jamie Kennedy, Alexa Vega, Madeline Carroll, Daniel Eric Gold and Hubble Palmer. The film is about a group of Philadelphia residents who frequent the local West Philly Grounds coffee shop where Hewitt's character Claire works. Shooting already started earlier this month in Philadelphia. This doesn't exactly sound like the greatest project for Jennifer Love Hewitt to return with, but at least it's not a comedy. The reason why I mention that is that this already reminds me of a film called Caffeine, which starred Mena Suvari and was pretty much a terribly ...

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy are set to star in our flashback to the 90s a new indie comedy called Cafe from writer/director Marc Erlbaum. The film's an ensemble drama centred around a West Philadelphia branch of Grounds coffee shop, where Love Hewitt's character Claire works.
