You may only know Marcia Clark as the lead prosecutor for the 1994 O. J. Simpson murder trial (a role played by Sarah Paulson in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story), but in the past 25 years, Clark has proven herself to be much more than just a talented lawyer. Since resigning from the District Attorney's office after the Simpson trial and leaving trial practice behind, Clark has written two crime fiction series - the Rachel Knight and the Samantha Brinkman novels - as well as the nonfiction book Without a Doubt with Teresa Carpenter about the Simpson case. She has also made several TV appearances, including her role as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and host for Marcia Clark Investigates the First 48 on A&E.
Now Clark is combining all of her talents for ABC's new legal drama, The Fix, which she cocreated and cowrites alongside writer-producers Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain.

Free State of Jones brings to life one of the Civil War's most extraordinary and counterintuitive episodes, in which a Confederate deserter overthrew his former commanders and established a free "state" in his native corner of southeast Mississippi. Newton Knight, played by a ragged, yellow-toothed Matthew McConaughey, was a poor farmer who, incensed by a new law that allowed landowners to swap 20 slaves for their military service, abandoned his company to lead his own rebellion. "He looked around at all of his yeoman farmer buddies and said, 'Do you own any slaves?' They were like, 'No.' He goes,...

Before becoming a prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson murder trial, Marcia Clark was leading the simple life of a single, working mom. "I really didn't want the spotlight," the lawyer, 62, says in the current issue of People. "But there was no way to escape it." Originally a defense attorney, Clark says she joined the Los Angeles District Attorney's office in 1981 so she could "stand up for the victims." She became a member of the special trials team - which focuses on high-profile and complex capital cases - but tried to keep her communication with the press to a minimum. "I...

You’ve seen Matthew McConaughey blast off into the dark corners of space in Interstellar, storm Wall Street’s corridors of power in The Wolf of Wall Street and swaggered through mid-1980s Texas in Dallas Buyers Club. Now, the Oscar-winner is ready to pick up the musket as Newt Knight, a hardened and defiant farmer from the Deep South that leads the charge against Confederacy.
In doing so, Knight births the Free State of Jones along with a group of his fellow poorly farmers, and it’s this fight against the man that underpins Gary Ross’ (The Hunger Games) upcoming drama. Opening in rather unconventional fashion this May, Ross’ based-on-real-events feature is beginning to turn heads and raise eyebrows for its gritty realization of the American Civil War.
Teasing what lies in store, McConaughey offered a brief overview of the inherent themes fuelling the rebellion seen in Free State of Jones.

Stx Entertainment and Im Global’s financial partnership for civil war drama Free State of Jones is beginning to bear fruit, as the studios have unveiled a pair of new stills for Gary Ross’ feature that showcase Interstellar star Matthew McConaughey in action.
For the film, he’ll assume the role of Newton Knight, a confederate soldier who spearheads one of the largest, and most significant rebellions in the bloody history of the four-year battle. Opposite McConaughey for the film is Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights), a slave named Rachel who wins the heart of the iconic protagonist, paving the way for one of the first mixed-race marriages in the state. Rachel’s relationship with Newton has been documented as one of the defining periods of his life, and it’ll be fascinating to see that play out on the big screen under Ross’ astute eye.

A little Carrie Mathison, a little Olivia Pope, a touch of Rust Cohle: We have big, beautiful hopes for Julia Stiles in the TNT drama pilot Guilt by Association. Based on a book by former O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark, the show will feature Stiles as Rachel Knight, a "unorthodox and impulsive" deputy district attorney living in Los Angeles who doesn't play by the rules. Hmm ... we're trying to imagine a crime drama lead that does play by the rules. Nope, we can only picture Julia Stiles kicking in a boardroom door and hitting someone across the face with the California Penal Code.

Julia Stiles (the Bourne movie franchise) has been tapped for the lead in TNT‘s drama pilot Guilt By Association, from former prosecutor Marcia Clark, on whose book the project is based, and Dee Johnson. The project centers on Rachel Knight (Stiles), a talented, unorthodox and impulsive Deputy Da in the La County District Attorney’s office who sometimes operates outside the law in order to uphold it. Rachel relies on her cohorts — fashionable prosecutor Toni Lacollette (Rose Rollins) and tough-as-nails Detective Bailey Keller (Elisabeth Röhm) — for all things professional and personal. Driven by compassion but haunted by guilt, Rachel tackles the Special Trials Unit’s most difficult cases and does so with humor, an edge, and an “evidence is for pussies” attitude. When the suspicious death of a close colleague throws her own judgment into question, Rachel must rely on her connections and instincts to solve the case and clear her friend’s name.

The lead of TNT‘s drama pilot Guilt By Association is vacant again as Neve Campbell has pulled out. The former Party of Five star had agreed to do the pilot and her deal was seconds from closing when I hear she had a change of heart, feeling she wasn’t ready to jump back into series TV. Guilt By Association — from former prosecutor Marcia Clark, on whose book the project is based, and Dee Johnson – centers on Rachel Knight, a gutsy Deputy District Attorney in the Special Trials Unit of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who works closely with tough-as-nails female Lapd detective Bailey Keller (Elisabeth Rohm) and stylish female prosecutor Toni Lacollette (Rose Rollins), both of whom routinely crash at Rachel’s place.

Exclusive: The Closer star/executive producer Kyra Sedgwick is back at TNT with another female-centered procedural drama project, this time strictly behind the camera. The cable network has given a pilot order to Proof, a supernatural medical drama executive produced by Sedgwick. Additionally, TNT has greenlighted a legal drama pilot co-written by Marcia Clark, the lead prosecutor in the O.J. Simpson trial, and Nashville showrunner Dee Johnson. Written by Rob Bragin (Greek), Proof centers on a skeptical, hard science, female surgeon who’s struggled with family issues including a tragic death. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings — all of it looking for verifiable proof, to try to answer one of life’s greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something … beyond?. Bragin and Sedgwick executive produce with her manager Jill Littman and producer Tom Jacobson (Ladykillers). There are no plans for Sedgwick to star.

London, June 9: A bridesmaid was knocked unconscious after the best man punched her in the face on the wedding day, a court heard on Friday.
Leanne Edmunds was still wearing her bridesmaids' gown when best man Paul Allen flattened her after a row at the reception near Merthyr Tydfil in Wales.
The 23-year-old young brunette was knocked out for 'several minutes' after the attack, was left bleeding from a facial wound and had a black eye.
The court heard that the attack happened after Edmunds fought with her boyfriend Gareth England at the wedding reception.
"Allen became involved in their conversation and was told to mind his own business," the Daily Mail quoted prosecutor Rachel Knight as telling Merthyr Tydfil.
