In picking up the pieces of May’s calamitous, Scratch-orchestrated car crash, Criminal Minds‘ Season 13 premiere ultimately set in motion a chain of events that reached out and touched Aaron Hotchner, who has been tucked away in Witsec.

Yes, Cat Adams is a psychopath and has put Reid through hell, but Matthew Gray Gubler and Aubrey Plaza play off one another so well it's impossible not to hope to see her in the future, and as great as they were in "Entropy," that has nothing on how spectacular they are in this Criminal Minds episode.
The season 12 finale, "Red Light," sees the team working to save Diana Reid from Lindsey Vaughn, who has been working with Cat, not Mr. Scratch, as they all thought, but that doesn't mean that Peter Lewis' presence isn't still felt. Well, it's at least likely he's behind what brings Morgan back (briefly) to his old workplace. ...

The Bau can use all the help it can get right now, so what better time for Derek Morgan to return than in the Criminal Minds season 12 finale? Reid's mother is missing, Reid has to square off with Cat Adams again and sure, Mr. Scratch might not have been the one behind framing Reid, but he is still out there somewhere.
And in "Red Light," Morgan comes to the team with a lead that might help catch Peter Lewis.

Mr. Scratch has definitely put Baby Boy in a corner.
Unlike his quickly resolved efforts earlier this season, Peter Lewis continues to put the screws to Reid on Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 14.
Reid may be home, but he's definitely not safe yet, as more and more evidence piles up against him.
I found it pretty unbelievable that the Mexican police were able to recover the knife that was the murder weapon from where it was tossed in the desert.
Seriously, with all the lawlessness in parts of Mexico, how likely is it that enough police could be spared to search the entire route of the high-speed chase from Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 13?
And that his blood and fingerprints were intact after several days of the knife baking in the sun?
I'd think that a good lawyer could get that tossed. I'm betting chain of custody in Mexico isn't up to U.

The difficult year of Dr. Spencer Reid continues.
Poor Reid. Just being a dutiful son eventually lands him in a Mexican jail on Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 13.
In jail in a foreign country where he doesn't speak the language without his most lethal weapon: his beautiful mind, as Garcia puts it.
Apparently, the unsub behind this frame-up knows Reid well, enough to know what he's doing.
The Bau team members naturally assume that Peter Lewis, Mr. Scratch, is behind this. Why? Because he's this season's boogeyman.
Good a guess as any, since nothing was proved in this draggy first part of a two-parter spotlighting Reid.
The why for Reid's trip is simple: to find a holistic treatment for his mother that might slow her Alzheimer's.
So that's where that swamp water he's been giving his mom came from.
What's not so simple is why he shut out his teammates from his plans.

The case is going to be very, very personal for Dr. Tara Lewis in Criminal Minds' "Mirror Image," an episode that brings back Peter Lewis (a.k.a. Mr. Scratch) and was directed by series star Joe Mantegna.
In this episode, the Bau opens an investigation when a man who fully believes he's Tara's brother arrives in town and knows everything about her and her family. As for her real brother, she can't make contact with him.

Criminal Minds finally revealed what happened to Thomas Gibson's Hotch. Gibson was fired from the long-running CBS series after an on-set altercation with a writer-producer. Gibson appeared as Hotch in the first two episodes of season 12 before his character disappeared on assignment…or so viewers thought. So what happened to Hotch? It turns out he entered witness protection. Rossi (Joe Mantegna) revealed the news to the Behavioral Analysis Unit in the Wednesday, Nov. 16 episode "Elliott's Pound." Why the change? Serial killer Peter Lewis, better known as Mr. Scratch (Bodhi Elfman), started stalking Hotch's son Jack. The Criminal Minds villain first appeared in season 10 and remained at large as of...

The big question of Criminal Minds season 12 was how Hotch would be written out, since originally, his absence was supposed to be brief. It was also the reasion Prentiss came back in a multi-episode guest arc; he was just supposed to be on "temporary assignment." However, following an on-set altercation, Thomas Gibson was fired and Paget Brewster's return in a recurring capacity turned into a series regular promotion. That means that however they had him leave the Bau had to, for the most part, take place off-screen.
It did, with the explanation for his now-permanent absence coming at the beginning of episode 6, "Elliott's Pond," as Rossi revealed that Hotch's "temporary assignment" was really a cover for an investigation, one that involved Peter Lewis, a.k.a. Mr. Scratch, and the danger he posed to his son.

Defining what makes a family is the theme of the touching Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 6.
The obvious family ties are in the case of the week, which concerns two abductions in a small Delaware town. The first was in 1983, when the Henson twins disappeared while cutting through a cornfield. This loss of family deeply affects older brother Deeley, who many blamed for the disappearance and who became the town drunk.
Thirty years after the first disappearance, three teen boys vanish while retracing the Henson twins' last steps, and the Bau must determine the connection between the two events.
It was a solid twist when the team solved the mystery of how the Henson twins, who grew to adulthood while captives, actually abducted the three boys, protecting them according to their own warped logic.
And it was reaffirming to not only see the three boys reunited with their parents, but also to see Deeley,...

Weeks after Thomas Gibson’s final Criminal Minds episode, the show finally addressed his character’s whereabouts.
On Wednesday’s episode, titled “Elliott’s Pond” and directed by cast member Matthew Gray Gubler, it was revealed that Gibson’s character, Aaron Hotcher, was leaving his post as longtime head of the Behavioral Analysis Unit.

Adam Rodriguez isn't Shemar Moore. But different doesn't have to mean worse.
Rodriguez's Luke Alvez gets prominently introduced on Criminal Minds Season 12 Episode 1. It's quickly established during his takedown of one of the escaped serial killers that he's a bad-ass, a former Army Ranger who doesn't mind getting a lot more physical that the other current members of the Bau.
And you can see that he's got a slow boil right below the surface.
And he doesn't feel he's a good fit for the Bau.
I can't sit around brainstorming about these guys. I need the chase.

Rodriguez's time on CSI: Miami also helps him to toss out pseudo-scientific jargon with ease, so he fits right in with those brain stormers.
But, missing her Derek, sweet Garcia gives the cold shoulder to the hunky new guy.

The ABC will be forced to dramatically cut spending on content if the federal government does not fund the costs of redundancies and other efficiency savings.
ABC MD Mark Scott delivered that blunt warning on Monday as he complained the broadcaster is still waiting to be told exactly how much it will have to slash its operating budget by months after the May budget imposed a $120 million reduction over four years.
Expressing his frustration, Scott said in a speech at Melbourne University: .We are still not sure precisely how much will be cut. We are still not sure precisely when the cuts will become payable..
Scott bemoaned the uncertainty and lamented the forced redundancies of more than 80 people, representing more than 1,000 years of experience.
.The final strategy for dealing with the funding cuts will have to be determined by the board and executive once the size of the cut and the repayment timing is known,...

Malcolm Turnbull has derided the ABC.s warnings it may be forced to axe shows such as Lateline after threatening to can Peppa Pig earlier this year.
The Communications Minister said the ABC board and management. know there is ample capacity to achieve substantial savings in back office and administrative costs without cutting programming budgets.
Turnbull branded the threat to Peppa Pig as a joke, stating on his website, .No government, no management would ever take on the 3 year olds of Australia (not to speak of their parents).. The Minister defended the 1% reduction in the ABC.s base funding over the next four years in the May Budget as a necessary measure to reduce the federal deficit.

Sometimes during certain "Mad Men" episodes, the rampant sexism depicted sends my blood racing to such a boiling point, I quickly move past thoughtful to homicidal -- past typing up observations of the episode to yelling at characters to stab another character's eyes out with a pencil. Sunday's "The Summer Man" was one of those episodes. Half a meditation on Don's life and half a look at sexual politics in the workplace, the eighth episode of Season Four combined to form a fairly bleak view of the "Mad Men" world in mid-1965. The characters are still stuck in their situations, whether they were self-created or not, and winning doesn't seem to be in the cards for most. Some, such as Don, have reevaluated their expectations, while others, such as Joan, have lowered theirs. But when your only goal is survival, fulfillment is usually nowhere in sight.
