While we try to figure out why the Emmys exist when incredible actors like "Hannibal's" Mads Mikkelsen and "Orphan Black's" Tatiana Maslany are snubbed, we do want to congratulate this year's few horror nominees, especially "American Horror Story: Coven" with 17 nods.
Below are the horror highlights. For the full rundown of all the talented nominees, visit the official Emmys website, and be sure to watch the live broadcast of the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on NBC on Monday, August 25th, at 8:00 Pm Et/5:00 Pm Pt.
Also notable, if not quite horror, are "Game of Thrones" with 19 nominations (including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for Neil Marshall, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage, and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Lena Headey) and "True Detective" with 12 (including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey).

If you've hit rock bottom, all you have to do is turn to nature.
That's what adventure and survival expert Tim Medvetz believes, and he's proving it to be true in Nat Geo Wild's newest series, "Going Wild." Medvetz takes down-on-their-luck people out on a rigorous three-day wildlife intervention adventure, allowing them to rediscover themselves and forcing them to face their fears and problems head on.
And they have no warning, either. After talking to their loved ones, Medvetz drops in as a surprise to take these people away and throw them into remote and unforgiving locations. He pushes people to their absolute limits, navigating life-threatening terrain, hunting for food and water and forcing them to build their own shelter in brutal locations like Mount St. Helens in Washington, the Owyhee Canyon lands on the border of Oregon, Nevada and Idaho and the Moab Desert in Utah.

Well, this is a shocker: "American Horror Story" has tied "Mad Men" to lead the nominees for 2012 Emmys with 17 nominations each. It did so in the category of "Miniseries or Movie" rather than "Drama Series", but we'll take it. Read on to learn what other genre shows are in the running - yes, "The Walking Dead" makes an appearance!

Sydney production company The Fed has signed Craig Rasmus to it’s roster of directors.
His first outing is with an ad campaign for boxing apparel company Everlast including two 60-second spots, ‘Greatness Is Within’ and ‘Sometimes’. His reel also includes an advert for fashion label Ksubi and Copper’s Clear ‘Ghost’, a satire of the 1990 film Ghost.
Rasmus’s background as editor has seen him work with Panadeine, Pk chewing gum.
Feds executive producer Michael Cook said in a statement “The minute I met Craig and screened his reel, I knew I wanted him to join The Feds. His work has a confident and fresh feel to it and I thought he was a perfect fit to our company.”
“I tend to favour work that utilises strong narratives with natural lighting and an observational approach,” explains Rasmus, on his style. “I have a strong interest in the youth lifestyle...

It's just getting worse for Terri Moulton Horman. Four days ago, her estranged husband Kaine said he believed she was involved in the June 4 disappearance of his son, Kyron Horman, 7, from a school outside Portland, Ore. Now, in court papers filed Monday, Kaine Horman alleges Terri recently went to a gym daycare center "looking to 'abduct' her daughter" with Kaine, 19-month-old Kiara, while the Kaine was working out. A receptionist at the gym told the manager that Terri asked to be notified the next time the father and daughter were there, a motion filed by Kaine's lawyer alleges. Law enforcement officials were notified,...

Despite being nominated for Best Drama and having its star Anna Paquin win Best Actress in a TV Drama at this year's Golden Globes, "True Blood" was shut out of the major categories for the 2009 Emmy Awards, which announced its nominees earlier today. But that's not to say it, and a few other genre-related shows, won't be showing up at the party.
Here's a list of the horror-tinged shows that were recognized (with a few others whose fanbase includes a lot of our readers thrown in for good measure):
Outstanding Art Direction For A Single-Camera Series

Michael Mayer, Production Designer
Gregory S. Richman, Art Director
Kimberly Wannop, Set Decorator
Heroes • Cold Snap • NBC • Universal Media Studios in association with Tailwind Productions
