“Madgaon Express” showcases a noticeable disparity in its box office performance, excelling primarily in Maharashtra while lagging in other circuits. Despite a promising start with a collection of ₹1.63 crore on Friday, the film’s earnings of ₹9.88 crore over the weekend reflect its limited reach beyond Maharashtra.
Typically, comedies aimed at the youth market enjoy an advantage, yet “Madgaon Express” lacks a standout soundtrack, hindering its appeal in mass markets.
Looking ahead, the film’s performance from Tuesday to Thursday will be telling. To potentially bolster attendance, the makers have opted to reduce ticket prices at select venues for Tuesday screenings.
#MadgaonExpress is clearly lopsided: Performs best in #Maharashtra, but the contribution from other circuits – which would’ve made a huge difference to its 4-day total – is limited… Fri 1.63 cr, Sat 2.72 cr, Sun 2.81 cr, Mon 2.72 cr. The “Madgaon Express” gained momentum on its second day, witnessing a remarkable 66.87% surge in business. Despite the absence of the Buy1Get1 offer, Mumbai continued to drive its success. The film garnered ₹1.63 crores on Friday and ₹2.72 crores on Saturday, accumulating a total of ₹4.35 crores in India.
As the film enters its crucial phase, Sunday and Monday’s box office performance will be telling, especially without the promotional offer. The audience’s response to these regular ticket days will determine its sustainability.

When those indulging in what some folks picturesquely refer to in ‘backchodi’ insist they are having fun, who are we to complain? The three protagonists(it is time we stopped looking at our screen heroes as heroes, as they are not) of Madgaon Express , Dodo (Divyenndu), Pinku (Pratik Gandhi) and Ayush (Avinash Tiwary) are incontrovertibly convinced that they are a fun-filled trio.
You can call them Three Idiots, and be ‘dumb’ with it. Except that the irony of calling out idiots as idiots, would be completely lost.
A dismaying dumbness runs through the gags and pranks of Madgaon Express. This is the kind of cluttered comedy that Rohit Shetty would make if Golmaal was a celluloid torture chamber designed to confuse and stump war prisoners during World War 2: “Now which of the above jokes do you find funny?” None? Flog him! All? Flog him more! Some? Make him watch...

With a runtime of 3 hours and 23 minutes, Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’ is one of the very few films so lenghty. Animal is Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s only third film after Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. It presents a clear filmmaking style of Sandeep Reddy with intensity, aggression, passion & brutal action being the mainstay. Tnm StaffWriter and filmmaker Aditya Kripalani, who recently turned his third international bestseller, Tikli and Laxmi Bomb into a film of the same title has another feather in his cap. The film has won Best Feature in the 10th edition of the Berlin Independent Film Festival on Sunday. Featuring Vibhawari Deshpande, Chitrangada Chakraborty, Suchitra Pillai, Upendra Limaye and Saharsh Kumar Shukla, the film will be screened in the UK Asian Film Festival at London’s oldest cinema house. Last year A Death in the Gunj and Lipstick Under My Burkha were selected from India. The book and film trace the unusual story of two sex workers who come together to run a co-operative and eliminate the middlemen in sex work. In an interview to Tnm, Aditya revealed that he had always wanted to make an anti-patriarchy film with the theme of ‘Sisterhood above all’, and this is what led him to pick an entirely woman-oriented subject. An alumnus of the prestigious Ftii in Pune, Aditya said that the idea for Tikli and Laxmi Bomb originated in 2003, after watching Thelma and Louise in college. “(I) have wondered ever since why we aren't making a film with that wild a spirit, with that acerbic a telling, in India,” he said. On the research on sex work that went into writing the story, Aditya said, “I spent a lot of time talking to sex workers around the Sv road area (Mumbai). This would only work practically if I paid them for the sex and had a chat instead. As they're at work and making their living for the night, money is of primary importance and not some pesky guy's questions.” “A lot of them also opened up after the second or third time. And spoke of their lives, what drove them, urges, feelings, they shared their laughter. The most beautiful thing was that on their own, they're not 'martyrs' or sad at all. They're about as happy as women working in advertising or banking. It's just that they've seen patriarchy in its worst colours and so are wiser for it, in terms of how to deal with it,” he added Just like the research done on the book, the film too has been shot in real locations in Mumbai in tough conditions. Apart from Tikli and Laxmi Bomb, the filmmaker has also written two other books, Frontseat and Backseat which went on to become international bestsellers as well.

Opened: June 6 U.S., India, U.K. (Adlabs Films)
OAKLAND, California -- Sixty-five-year-old Amitabh Bachchan, India's vibrant and virile living legend, is riveting in nearly every film he does. But even a true fan's ardor is tested by the tedious political thriller, "Sarkar Raj".
The film is inspired by the real-life, intricate machinations of power in the country's richest state, Maharashtra, where the fortunes of many a billionaire have flourished and faltered under the eyes of religious, turbaned old men like Rao-saab (Dilip Prabhavalkar). Rao holds the rights to a huge plot of land where a multinational corporation wants to build India's largest power plant; some 40,000 villagers will have to be displaced, but the project guarantees glory to whoever is attached to it.
The power company's clever CEO, Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai), soon learns that no progress can be made until the egos and bank accounts of "Sarkar" (leader) Subhash Nagre (Bachchan) and Nagre's son and successor, Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan, the actor's son and Rai's real-life husband), are sated. Sarkar himself, who holds chief ministers and other VIPs in the palm of his hand, has to defer to Rao-saab.
Add to this the fact that social activists and bitter ex-employees are set on destroying the project -- and Sarkar himself -- and one can see the film's potential as an aware, contemporary thriller. This film is a sequel to the 2005 drama "Sarkar".
Iconoclastic director-writer Ram Gopal Varma is single-handedly credited with introducing a coarse, profane realism to Bollywood films ("Satya", 1998, "Company", 2002) that was refreshing for its time. But Varma seems to have fallen into a rut, relying here on excessive close-ups, blaring background music and long, pretentious speeches instead of character development.
Viewers should seek out Mani Ratnam's 2007 film "Guru" instead, to appreciate the on-screen chemistry of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai and to get a far more interesting take on the ways power is brokered in India.
Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Javed Ansari, Victor Banerjee, Upendra Limaye, Govid Namdeo.
Director: Ram Gopal Varma.
Screenwriters: Ram Gopal Varma, Prashant Pandey.
