In terms of hit songs, a few stand out from the rest. While songs like Jack Harlow’s “Lovin On Me,” Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills,” Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Carnival,” Tate McRae’s “Greedy”, and Teddy Swims’s “Lose Control” (he’d also need to submit a live version) will likely be big contenders for nominations, there are four songs that, to me at least, currently sound like possible winners.

The 29-year-old British star Jacob Collier has risen to fame from YouTube all the way to the Grammys, earning six trophies throughout his career. While Collier was a Grammy favorite from his first album, “Djesse Vol. 3” was the one to put him on the radar for a lot of folks, earning three Grammy noms including for Album of the Year. That nomination was quite unexpected and launched Collier to a lot more fame, especially as his fusion of jazz/R&b/pop is quite unique and not what many would expect to cross over to the Grammy mainstream. Despite not being a huge commercial artist, Collier might be looking at his biggest year ever at the Grammys with his new album, “Djesse Vol. 4.” But just how much recognition will Collier get?

Brandi Carlile will be stopping by Sesame Street on Thursday to help Big Bird and Mr. Snuffleupagus, also known as Snuffy, celebrate all things nature.
In an exclusive clip from the episode, which teaches kids about the environment, Carlile explains that “Nature is all around us, it’s everything around us not made by people.” To help her two friends learn more about what Earth is all about, the singer dives into a catchy song as the trio travels through different landscapes — from green rolling hills to fields of flowers.

There’s a reason why you flock to Gold Derby, and I’m guessing a big part of it is you live to participate in predicting and handicapping the various Hollywood races. We love awards, and not just because it’s fun to test our skill at prognostication. It’s also because we love the ceremony and the pomp and the whole shebang. We dore the presentation and the speeches, the performances, the sense of history, the occasional electricity. And we would never think to miss the Oscars, the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the SAGs, the Grammys, because every once in a while, something truly magical happens at one of these shows that serves to elevate our existence for having shared in it.

Taylor Swift receives the award for Best Pop Vocal Album at The 66th Annual Grammy Awards
Women absolutely dominated the 2024 Grammys, from winning the top awards to delivering the most memorial performances of the February 4th broadcast. Miley Cyrus took home her first-ever Grammy wins, while Taylor Swift made Grammy Awards history for the most Album of the Year wins ever.
Swift also made Swifties worldwide happy by announcing she’ll release her 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19, 2024.
Tracy Chapman brought down the house with a stunning performance of “Fast Cars” alongside Luke Combs. Joni Mitchell earned a rousing ovation for her first performance on the Grammy stage, singing “Both Sides Now” while backed by Brandi Carlile, Allison Russell, Sistastrings, Lucius, Jacob Collier, and Blake Mills. And Celine Dion, who is suffering from stiff person syndrome, put in a surprise appearance as presenter of the Album of the Year award.

Los Angeles, Feb 5 (Ians) Music legend Joni Mitchell performed at the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards. She sang ‘Both Sides Now’ for her performance debut on the telecast.
‘Both Sides Now’ had some resonance as a performance pick for the Grammys. Her very first Grammy Award 55 years ago, back in 1969, was for the ‘Clouds’ album, on which ‘Both Sides Now’ appeared, reports Variety.
Joni Mitchell performed the song in the format that has brought her back to the stage on just a few occasions since she recovered from a 2015 brain aneurysm: it was done “Joni Jam”style, with the singer-songwriter seated on a comfortable-looking throne with her recent trademark cane, surrounded by similarly seated all-star accompanists — in this case, Brandi Carlile, Allison Russell, Jacob Collier, Lucius, Sista Strings and Blake Mills.

Joni Mitchell made her debut Grammys performance at the age of 80, singing her classic song “Both Sides Now” onstage at the 2024 awards show.
For the moving performance, Mitchell was seated in a chair and held a cane as she was accompanied by a line of musicians on, appropriately, both sides of her, including Lucius, SistaStrings, Jacob Collier, Allison Russell, Blake Mills and Brandi Carlile, who introduced Mitchell.
Mitchell began the performance with her back to the audience. The chair slowly turned around so she was facing the crowd near the beginning of the performance.

Joni Mitchell has made her Grammy Awards performance debut, taking the stage alongside the likes of Brandi Carlile, Jacob Collier, Allison Russell, Lucius, Blake Mills, and more for a truly show-stopping rendition of “Both Sides Now” at Sunday night’s (February 4th) ceremony.
The performance began with an intro speech by Carlile, who described Mitchell as “one of the most influential and emotionally-generous creators in human history.” Celebrating her intimate, vulnerable approach to songwriting, Carlile praised Mitchell as a pioneer, saying that she’s like “the first person to strip down at the skinny dipping party and take that awkward, terrifying leap before everyone else eventually joyfully follows.” Putting things into a bigger perspective, Carlile reflected to the audience that history “will remember that we lived in the time of Joni Mitchell.”
Then, the camera cut to Mitchell singing “Both Sides Now” from a grand white chair on a stage decorated by candelabras.

Shawn Mendes is looking back at the past year of his life in a new post after the New Year.
The 25-year-old musician shared a video of himself playing and singing, and opened up about mental health.
“I found that in moments of extreme anxiety or fear if i sat down with my harmonium and allowed myself with full trust to sing whatever came out it would often ease the pain,” he shared in the first half of his post. “it felt so difficult at first to let myself sing without needing perfection but after a while i actually started to fall in love with the dance between the ‘right’ and the ‘wrong’ notes … i realized there were only moments of bliss and euphoria from the ‘right’ notes Because of the ‘wrong’ notes. The only reason i can sing in key is because i’ve learned to listen.”

Kate Middleton’s 2023 Christmas carol concert has come and gone. However, the annual event wasn’t without some memorable moments. (Spoiler: Prince Louis stole the show.) Among them was the Princess of Wales’s solo arrival ahead of the Together at Christmas taping. Amid royal family book drama, Kate, 41, looked every bit at her “confidence peak,” according to a body language expert.

Kate Middleton’s annual Christmas carol concert is almost here. And one element is bound to “enrage” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. A commentator says 2023’s Together at Christmas theme isn’t likely to go over well with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The reason? The show’s connection to Meghan’s time as a working royal.
2023’s ‘Together at Christmas’ carol service theme centers on creating ‘supportive, nurturing worlds around’ children and adults
Kate, and many other British royals, are in for a festive evening on Dec. 8, 2023. Together at Christmas will be taped at Westminster Abbey and later broadcast in Britain on Christmas Eve.
The carol concert will feature performances by Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jacob Collier, Freya Ridings, James Bay, and Jacob Collier. Also preforming is the abbey’s choir. What began as a way to thank those who helped others during coronavirus (Covid-19) has grown...

A choir of 5,000 voices forms the foundation of the support system Jacob Collier is building with Shawn Mendes and Stormzy on his latest single, “Witness Me,” which also features Kirk Franklin. In the newly released music video for the record, the trio leans into earnest humility in a home where everyone shows up for one another, even through their own hardships.
“This song means a great deal to me, and its creation has brought me a lot of hope and warmth over the two years of its gestation,” Collier shared in a statement.

YouTube’s biggest ad innovation for 2023? It might be borrowing a well-worn page from old-fashioned linear TV.
At the YouTube Brandcast upfront event Wednesday in New York, execs announced the introduction of 30-second unskippable ads in top-performing YouTube content on TVs — you know, just like the commercials that have run on broadcast and cable networks for decades. YouTube also will start testing new “Pause Experiences” for YouTube on TV screens, showing an ad when viewers pause a video akin to the pause ads Hulu first bowed four years ago.
In their pitch to Madison Avenue types, YouTube execs also boasted of the streaming service’s massive reach: More than 150 million unique viewers in the U.S. watched YouTube and YouTube TV on televisions for the month of December 2022, according to Nielsen estimates. One of the biggest mysteries of the past Grammy cycle was the Best New Artist race, which seemed relatively weak and uncertain compared to past years. That said, the lineup ended up including some great acts from pop, American roots, alternative, jazz, R&b, and hip-hop, with the winner being jazz singer extraordinaire Samara Joy. This year let’s put on our thinking caps early to see what’s brewing in the race, which might be shaping up to be equally exciting.
Perhaps the most popular new artist right now is New York-based rapper Ice Spice. Ice has managed a couple of big hits, including the pop crossover “Boy’s a Liar, Pt. 2,” alongside PinkPantheress. Both Ice and PinkPantheress look to be heavy favorites for the award, as “Boy’s a Liar” is one of the biggest hits of the eligibility season so far. Ice Spice is arguably a bigger...

Paramore, Lil Nas X, My Morning Jacket, Sheryl Crow, Korn, Baby Keem and Paris Jackson will also perform at the four-day event on June 15-18 in Manchester, Tennessee.

“I think I’m Kanye mixed with Donny Hathaway,” raps Stormzy on the title track of his third album, This is What I Mean. There’s definitely a touch of the troubled West’s ambitious alchemy to the track, which pirouettes from a pretty piano intro (think child’s ballet rehearsal) into an elating, bass-blast of braggadocio, given dramatic ballast with operatic backing vocals.
But there’s really more of Hathaway to Croydon-born grime star. Not just because of the jazzy warmth with which this album leans into its soulful balladry. It’s there in the rich, stable sincerity of his vocals. Like Hathaway, 29-year-old Michael Owou Jr has a voice that can reach through the darkness and steady your heart. Even if you didn’t know that Stormzy’s the kind of national treasure who invests in scholarship schemes to support Black kids through Cambridge University, his decency feels embedded in his frequency.

While some people accuse the Grammys of being a popularity contest, this is not really accurate. The award show often features many acts that are not widely known by the general public, some of which even go on to win big. This year, among the Harry Styleses and Beyonces of music, let’s consider which under-the-radar artist could get their moment to finally shine in the mainstream.

When you talk about award shows, you have to talk about campaigning, by which artists are able to get their material out there in hopes that voters become more familiar with them and their craft. This year a few methods, both new and old, stand out as great ways of getting on the radar during Grammy season.
SEEGrammys flashback: Clash of the ’90s titans when Alanis Morissette beat Mariah Carey “Tiny Desk Concert”
NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert” remains the best campaigning method right now. The series especially appeals to musicians, which is obviously more effective when it comes to Grammy campaigning since the Recording Academy is made up of industry professionals, and it has helped many surprise nominees like Anderson .Paak in 2016 and Jacob Collier...
