Exclusive: Deadline has learned that Bella Thorne will star in director Mitzi Peirone’s post-apocalyptic thriller The Uncanny.
Written by Peirone and Chaya Doswell, The Uncanny presents a future where every citizen is implanted with a chip capable of controlling everything from emotions to directions, until a routine update backfires, causing a cyber apocalypse. Wiping out most of humanity, five strangers miraculously survive, now forced to live hidden in a bunker with their implants ripped from their spines. They were the few lucky enough to survive – until Scarlet (Thorne) begins to suspect they were not saved at all, or by chance.
Rebecca Berrih (Elysian Fields Entertainment) who recently produced Beyond the Sky which was released by Rlj entertainment, Thor Bradwell (Jt Leroy) and Courtney Shepard, who serves as Director of Development at New Republic Pictures, the company responsible for co-financing and producing Oscar Best Picture nominee 1917 and Rocketman, will produce.

Rlje Films will release the sci-fi/thriller film Beyond The Sky on DVD and Blu-ray on Nov. 6, 2018. Based on a story by Fulvio Sestito, Rebecca Berrih and Warren Thomas (Tell Me How I Die), the film was written by Thomas and Marc Porterfield (“Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462”). Sestito, who has won numerous awards for his short “The Showdown,” and has worked with Guillermo Del Toro’s Mirada and Tim Miller’s Blur Studios, makes his directorial debut with Beyond The Sky which stars Ryan Carnes (Valentina’s Wedding), Jordan Hinson (“Eureka”), Martin Sensmeier (The Magnificent Seven), Don Stark (“That 70’s Show”), Peter Stormare (Fargo) and Dee Wallace (E.T.). Rlje Films will release Beyond The Sky on DVD for an Srp of $27.97 and Blu-ray for an Srp of $29.97.

Rlje Films announced yesterday that they have acquired North American rights for Italian director Fulvio Sestito's feature film debut, an alien abduction sci-fi thriller Beyond the Sky. Rlje is planning for a theatrical run with a VOD and On Digital HD release on September 21st. Beyond the Sky stars Eureka's Jordan Hinson who has been picking up a lot of projects this year after a quiet career after the popular SyFy show ended. Premiere Entertainment Group has added the sci-fi thriller Encounter starring Peter Stormare to its slate and will commence talks with worldwide buyers on the Croisette.
The film screens tomorrow [May 18] and centres on a documentary filmmaker who travels to a UFO convention in New Mexico where he meets a local artist with a dark secret.
As they follow a trail of clues they discover disturbing sightings and question all they believe when they become immersed in the enigmatic culture of the pueblo Indians.
Ryan Carnes, Jordan Hinson, Dee Wallace, and Martin Sensmeier star alongside Stormare.
Effects artist Fulvio Sestito wrote the screenplay and makes his feature directorial debut.
