Indie Director is an indie film about an indie director making indie movies. Except that the director (played by Bill Zebub—that can’t be his real name, can it?) makes movies that are frequently mistaken for porn. That’s an easy thing to do considering he requires women to be topless in all of his films, claiming that no matter how boring the film becomes, there will always be boobs to look at. Stepping aside (for a moment) from the implications of that, I can understand the place he’s coming from (especially when the reverse is true).
As despicable as his film-making is—he not only requires women to be in various states of undress at all time but he also verbally abuses them in the name of getting a better performance—director Bill’s goal to achieve mainstream distribution is an admirable goal. The film uses this...

The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.
Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.
However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.
Other Bad Lit favorites in the lineup are Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s The Taint, which is still completely grossing out audiences on the festival circuit, and The Uh-Oh Show, the splatter-filled horror comedy by the Godfather of Gore himself Herschell Gordon Lewis.

We recently told you about the upcoming PollyGrind Film Festival, one of the premiere grindhouse film festivals, that's set to celebrate all-things B-Movie style in Las Vegas this October. The madman behind the festival, Chad Clinton Freeman, announced today this year's PollyGrind line-up and it looks pretty sweet!
And not only is PollyGrind celebrating films, the fest is also celebrating several indie music acts slated to perform during the fest, a Zombiepalooza celebration and a whole lot more! Read on for all the details for the Second Annual PollyGrind Film Festival!
From the Press Release:
It's been called "the key festival for indie cult filmmakers to land distribution deals." Its founder and programmer has been called the "new champion of unabashed B-movie sleaze." Those praises might seem a bit outlandish, but with the official announcement of the PollyGrind Film Festival's schedule, it's easy to see where they come from.

Nick Peron finishes The Vomit Gore Trilogy this week. Read on for his finale. It sounds like he is ok, but at what costs.
For those who haven’t been paying attention I’ve been subjecting myself to Lucifer “Lucy” Valentine’s Vomit Gore Trilogy, which is a title that requires a spoiler alert. By this point I have watched the first two in the trilogy Slaughtered Vomit Dolls and reGOREgitated Sacrifice, both of which bored me to no end.
Ladies and gentlemen, here I stand in front of my television, it’s cheap Wal-Mart brand flat screen generating enough heat to warm my mostly naked body (I state this for any ladies reading, you’re welcome). In my hand is the last disc of the Vomit Gore Trilogy, with it’s crude crayon drawing of a grasshopper on the case. There are three things running through my mind right...

Sounds like somebody wants an image change. Last month, we heard that Bradley Cooper was aching to play The Crow in a rebooting of the undead superhero franchise, and now Variety reports that Cooper is looking to sign on with a 3D adaptation of John Milton‘s epic poem Paradise Lost (you know, that one Donald Sutherland was nattering about in Animal House). Cooper, naturally, would be playing the devil—having already rocked horns as Bill Zebub in a Nsfw Stella sketch pictured above, back when Brad was just glad to get a recurring role on Alias (that’s Julie Bowen licking him, Fyi).
Paradise Lost will be directed by Alex Proyas, who previously directed Know1ng (which figures) and the original Crow movie that Bradley would be remaking. Considering Proyas called the plans for a new Crow film “ridiculous” in 2009, it’d be impressive if Cooper manages to score such juicy roles with both projects.

The fascination with zombie infection has spread all over the world from Cuba to Japan and now Sweden’s own has made their film interpretation of the virus. In Zon 261, the year is 2013 and survivors in an apocalyptic Landskrona struggle to escape both the city and the impending threat of infection. Billed as a “a zombie movie – that isn’t a zombie movie – about xenophobia,” zombie films and political and social statements go together like peanut butter and jelly. Fredrik Hiller’s Zon 261 provides a unique film experience, as the zombies appear aware of their surroundings and capable of logical thought despite their desiccated bodies. I am a horror fan. I make no apologies for this. There is a lot to be gained from an experience shared with other genre fans sitting in a darkened theater. At various times over the years (as I am clearly an old crone), I have wondered what draws me to the genre. Is it experiencing fear in a controlled environment, so that I don’t feel threatened? Is it a revenge fantasy made real? Or am I simply a voyeur?
This last suggestion seems to be the theme behind Jt Petty’s (Soft for Digging, The Burrowers) film S&Man. (This film was sent to Bad Lit as a screener copy from the 2010 Spooky Movie Film Festival, which runs Oct. 21-25.)
Why do we watch? Horror movies, that is. It’s a question I think about from time to time as it’s unofficially my favorite genre of film. Scary. Gross. Spooky. Stupid. There are several types of horror movies and I enjoy all of them. Yep, even the stupid ones are somehow comforting to watch.
Horror filmmaker J.T. Petty has asked himself the same question and he goes in search of an answer in his documentary S&Man. There are some questionable and potentially controversial aspects to Petty’s investigations that I’m going to write about openly even though they might be considered spoilers.
If you haven’t seen the film and are interested in watching it, I recommend doing so without knowing too much ahead of time.

Next week marks the release of the documentary DVD Death Metal: Are We Watching You Die? from indie exploitation filmmaker Bill Zebub. Much like his earlier in-depth examinations of black metal bands (and his upcoming pagan metal documentary), the filmmaker has taken a candid and straightforward look at the genre, featuring interviews with some of extreme music's most legendary names. Find out more about the doc and watch the trailer below the fold... According to Zebub's official site, Are We Watching You Die? features sit-down sessions with death metal icons – including members of Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, Atrocity and Krisiun, as well as artists outside the death-metal sphere such as Dani from Cradle of...

Looking for the perfect movie to take your parents and kids to after indulging in a bit of Thanksgiving turkey? Well, Jt Petty's horror documentary S&Man is probably not it, but if live in or around Brooklyn, NY and can tear yourself away from your filial obligations, you owe it to yourself to check out the film's screening on Sunday, November 29th.
Jt Petty (The Burrowers, Soft for Digging) will be in attendance at UnionDocs in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, along with Erik and Bill Zebub, which should make for the kind of post-screening Q&A you'd tell our grandchildren about if not for consideration of their healthy upbringing. Petty also promises, "There's a good chance of a lot more crew/cast/subjects showing up, and if drinks don't accompany the screening, they will almost certainly follow; ought to be a fun night."
Here are the details and a rather lengthy synopsis:

Halloween is over, but the horror-film screenings continue. A quartet of genre features that have yet to achieve general distribution will be shown this month on opposite coasts, all with special guests on hand.
Tonight at midnight (actually 11:55 p.m.) at Los Angeles’ New Beverly Cinema (7165 Beverly Boulevard), the Grindhouse Film Festival presents a special showing of Lee Damarbre’s Smash Cut, about a horror filmmaker (played by the original Last House On The Left’s David Hess) who uses real body parts in his screen shockers. Inspired by the films of Herschell Gordon Lewis (who has an onscreen role, along with his The Wizard Of Gore star Ray Sager), the movie also features adult-film star Sasha Grey, Jesse Buck and Fango fave Michael Berryman. Demarbre and Hess will introduce the Grindhouse showing—Smash Cut’s only big-screen engagement in La—and take part in a Q&A afterward.

Long gone are the days where record labels could throw truck loads of money towards radio, retail, and the print media in order to shove their artists down the collective throats of the masses. The record store is going the way of the dinosaur. Day after day, another magazine folds while secretly a group of tree's breathe another sigh of relief; and Hell, who even listens to the radio anymore when anyone who has hands usually have some MP3 player or phone with MP3 capabilities dangling from their 5 fingered appendage?
Passion, creativity and drive are the first three adjectives that sprung to my mind as I watched Drive-In Horrorshow's DVD sampler load this morning. The staff at Dihs love what they do and it comes though amongst the music video's, movie trailers, and behind the scenes footage that makes up this sampler.

Hey, horror fiends! Mistress Bekah here, fresh from a long but awesome opening day at the New York Comic Con. Still recovering from yesterday’s interview with Takashi Miike, I was overwhelmed by a day full of fun, great fans, and some excellent horror talk.
The Fangoria booth is swinging! We’re giving away lots of free swag, selling some cool items and spreading the gospel of Fango. Most of my day was spent working the room with Fango video producers Bill Hall and Ian David, and along the way I ran into Method Man, my favorite nurses from Fear 2, Bill Zebub, Chewbacca, and Jt Petty (director of the new horror film, The Burrowers). Keep watching the Fango website for interviews with all these people and many more!
Though not quite as manic as San Diego, this con still has all the great events, celebs and booths, but with a slightly more personal touch.
