Winter, who succeeds O'Neill at the helm of Tlc, comes from a marketing background. Perhaps Billy Ray Cyrus can pluck a lesson about family from his new job. The country crooner, who is in the middle of divorcing wife Leticia "Tish" Cyrus, has signed up for an inspiring new job, hosting Tlc's "Homecoming". The limited series will see a reunion between soldiers and their unknowing family.
"Homecoming extends Tlc's focus on authentic and relatable life experiences," said Eileen O'Neill, president and Gm of Tlc as quoted by THR. "We look forward to honoring our service men and women, and celebrating in the unmatched moment when they are reunited with their families."
The show is inspired by online videos which mix a number of military homecomings. Viewers can expect raw emotional reaction when the military personnel returns home to their loved ones.

Tlc’s newest stars are polygamists! The network is introducing a new show to their lineup called Sister Wives, which documents the lives of a man who has three wives, and lives in—big shocker—Utah. Kody and his wives Meri, Janelle and Christine and their 13 kids all live together like one big happy family, and he takes on a fourth wife, Robyn, who has three children of her own. Tlc is excited that the show is controversial. President Eileen O'Neill said, "We've never shrunk from a unique opportunity.” The family being documented said they want their...

The rumors that Kate Gosselin and Sarah Palin would hook up on TV have been floating for a while, until now. At Television Critics Association tour, president of Tlc programming, Eileen O'Neill confirmed that Gosselin and her eight kids have traveled to Alaska and been captured on camera for Palin's reality series.
"Sarah Palin's Alaska" is an eight-part documentary series about Palin and her home state of Alaska. Its right was bought by Discovery's Tlc in March this year. Mark Burnett, the man behind "Survivor", is producing this show. "I look forward to working with Mark to bring the wonder and majesty of Alaska to all Americans," Palin said back then.
Gosselin and her kids would be featured in an episode where they blend with the nature. The family which flew to the state earlier this year did camping, salmon fishing, hiking and sight-seeing. The show would premiere on November...

Tlc has set a November premiere date for "Sarah Palin's Alaska," an unscripted series from the former Alaska governor and "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett. The cable network announced on Friday (Aug. 6) that "Sarah Palin's Alaska" will launch on Sunday, Nov. 14 in the 9 p.m. hour. Tlc won the rights to "Sarah Palin's Alaska" after an underwhelming spring bidding war that saw the choice come down to the Discovery family and A&E after the major networks and a variety of cable outlets passed. Of the series, Tlc's Eileen O'Neill states, "We’ve been shooting with Governor Palin and...

Just when you thought you'd seen enough of Kate Gosselin.
No question that the Tabloid Queen may get bumped off "Dancing With the Stars" soon. But Kate's not worried.
She's coming back to Tlc with a series of "Kate Plus 8" specials that show her life as a single mom. She'll also star in another show, called "Twist of Kate," that will have her helping other challenged mothers allegedly inspired by her story. She'll actually be going to other mother's homes and advising.
She told USA Today, "I want to be out there learning from others, helping to provide insight whenever I can, though I don't consider myself an expert on anything."
"She will be in that person's shoes," Tlc chief Eileen O'Neill says. "And more often than not, it's not going to be terribly comfortable for her."

This November, "Jon & Kate Plus 8" will change its name to "Kate Plus Eight" to keep up with the current situation in the Gosselin family. In a press release, Tlc announced that under the new title, the show will focus more on Kate Gosselin as a single parent raising 8-year-old twins and 5-year-old sixtuplets.
"Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and to recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family," President of Tlc Eileen O'Neill said. "The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; We feel that Kate's journey resonates with our viewers."
Curiously, at the end of her statement, O'Neill said that the network is also working on a "Kate project"

Remember how Jon Gosselin is a douchebag and started traveling the world with his young girlfriend who he may/may not have had an affair with and all those other girls coming out of the woodwork to say they've slept with Jon (gross) since he broke up with Kate? (Exhibits A, B, C and D). No? Well, Tlc remembers. They remember it really well.
So well, in fact, that they've basically kicked him off his own show. A while ago Jon was all "yeah, I want off the show because I think I can pursue opportunities elsewhere". Normally I would say that Jon really has No opportunities elsewhere, but in a world where people like Heidi, Spencer and Paris Hilton still somehow have a semblance of a career maybe I'm overstating that assumption.
But that's all besides the point, because Tlc got wise to the fact that it's a family-friendly...

TLC's "Jon & Kate Plus Eight" will relaunch in November as "Kate Plus Eight" -- with Jon Gosselin no longer a regular part of the show.

Reporting to TLC president and GM Eileen O'Neill, the Silver Spring, Md.-based Cheskin will lead the network's scheduling and program development team as well as the bicoastal development unit.
Cheskin most recently was senior vp programming at We tv, a job he assumed in 2006 after having consulted with the Rainbow Media network for two years. There, he developed a roster of series that includes "The Locator," "Amazing Wedding Cakes" and "Platinum Weddings."
"Steve's proven track record makes him an excellent addition to the Tlc family," O'Neill said. "With his leadership, I'm confident we will continue the network's strategic growth and create even more must-watch television brands."
Before We tv, Cheskin put in 18 years at Discovery Communications, where he held down several positions across three networks. Among his various roles, Cheskin was Gm...

When the Oxygen network greenlighted the reality series "Addicted to Beauty," the idea was to chronicle the day-to-day workings of a trendy California medical spa via the lives of its married co-owners, a socialite and a doctor.
That was the plan, anyway.
"Before we even got into production, they got divorced," Oxygen Gm Jason Klarman says. So when "Beauty" premieres next month, it will focus on socialite Dianne York-Goldman's attempt to start a med-spa at a different location, as well as her re-entry into single life.
"You've got to roll with the punches when you're doing these shows," Klarman says. "These aren't characters; these are real people, and you always run the risk of them having lives."
Indeed, as Tlc has learned with its breakout hit "Jon & Kate Plus 8," the unanticipated real-life travails of reality personalities can prove both a boon and a bust to the network following their every move.

TLC has ordered a new docu-soap series called "Cake Boss" that follows baker Buddy Valastro.
Valastro's elaborate confections for celebrities like Britney Spears have been featured on shows ranging from "Today" to "The Sopranos." The show will follow the New Jersey-based Valastro and his Italian family as they run Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken.
" 'Cake Boss' is a great mix for Tlc," said Eileen O'Neill, the network's president and Gm. "There's great payoff watching Buddy's amazing wedding and birthday cakes come to life, set against the backdrop of bigger-than-life characters and a relatable family dynamic."
Tlc will air the show's pilot April 19, with the series launching in early June.
"I was born into this business and practically have icing in my blood," Valastro said. "My passion is uniting Old World recipes with modern techniques, and I can't wait to share what we're doing with Tlc's audience."

Tlc has named Discovery Studios executive Nancy Daniels as senior vp production and development, based in Los Angeles.
Daniels will oversee all strategic planning and execution for programming on the channel, which is part of Discovery Communications.
Since July 2007, Daniels had been senior vp development and production at Discovery Studios, West Coast, which develops and produces original programming for multiple platforms. There, she managed development and production for all programming out of the L.A. branch and supervised key programs for networks including Tlc, Planet Green, Discovery Health Channel and Science Channel.
Before that, Daniels was vp alternative series development at CBS, where she worked on "Survivor," "The Amazing Race" and other series.
Daniels essentially replaces senior vp programming Brant Pinvidic, who departed Tlc in the spring, but adds new responsibilities to the role. This marks the first major hire for Eileen O'Neill since the Discovery veteran became president/Gm of Tlc a month ago.

Angela Shapiro-Mathes is exiting the top job at Discovery Communications-owned cable network Tlc after just 15 months in the post.
Sources indicated the parent company was unhappy with the creative direction of the network.
Discovery announced her departure Friday, replacing her with Eileen O'Neill, a Discovery veteran who most recently ran one of the company's newest networks, Planet Green.
In her brief tenure as president and general manager of Tlc, Shapiro-Mathes shifted the network's programming operations from Discovery headquarters in Maryland to Los Angeles; landed the "Miss America" franchise, and brought in talent including Kelly Ripa and Jennifer Lopez. However, the network has not produced a breakout series during Shapiro-Mathes' reign.
"My thanks to Angela for her hard work, leadership and passion over the past year," said David Zaslav, president/CEO of Discovery. "She has diversified Tlc's programming mix and increased the network's development presence in Los Angeles."
However, sources indicated Discovery will likely shift some resources back to its HQ in Silver Springs in order to regain efficiencies that come with having multiple channels under one roof. Tlc will still retain a reduced footprint in Los Angeles, but O'Neill will remain in Maryland.
O'Neill is a logical choice for Tlc having served as interim Gm before Shapiro-Mathes came on board. She also developed what is Tlc's top-rated series, "Jon and Kate Plus 8," at the channel where the series was originally scheduled, Discovery Health.
With O'Neill moving away from Planet Green, the environmentally conscious channel will now be run by Clark Bunting, president of emerging networks at Discovery.
Shapiro-Mathes joined Tlc in April 2007, replacing David Abraham after a broad management shakeup at Discovery topped by the installment of Zaslav.
She is a TV-industry veteran with past stints running Fox Television Studios, ABC Family and ABC Daytime.
