Eric Bolling, host of Newsmax’s “The Balance,” exited the right-wing network Friday after three years. He said that he is taking off to “embark on new endeavors.”
The departure was announced in a statement on Bolling’s website, which said that the host and network simply “decided to part ways,” alluding to news on his future projects coming soon.
A Newsmax spokesperson provided a similar explanation for the host’s exit, saying in a statement that it was a “mutually agreed” departure and that the network “wishes Eric Bolling well in his future endeavors.”
The spokesperson added that Bolling’s 8 p.m. Et show “The Balance” will be canceled and replaced temporarily by “Prime News” starting Monday, helmed by rotating hosts until a new primetime show is announced this summer.
The statement on Bolling’s website reads, “Eric and Newsmax are grateful for their time together and proud of the work they have produced.

Will Ronna McDaniel land another TV gig? There is already interest in the former Republican National Committee chair brewing from a couple of cable news outlets.
Sources at both Newsmax and NewsNation tell The Hollywood Reporter that they would be interested in pursuing a deal with McDaniel, should she ultimately finalize a separation agreement with NBC News.
McDaniel has been seeking a lawyer to negotiate an exit from NBC, which announced her hire as an NBC News contributor last Friday and reversed course just a few days later after facing backlash from MSNBC stars like Rachel Maddow and the Morning Joe team, not to mention an on-air rebuke from Chuck Todd on Meet the Press just minutes after McDaniel’s debut appearance.
McDaniel is likely to receive a hefty payout from NBC, given her two-year, $300,000 per year deal, though sometimes negotiations result in a lower payout in exchange for a shorter noncompete.

It’s no secret that Donald Trump has long promised a widespread immigration crackdown should he retake the White House in 2024. Still, in recent weeks the former president’s rhetoric on immigration has reached an authoritarian fever pitch. On Friday, Trump justified his desire for mass deportations by claiming that American schools “are loaded up with people that don’t speak a word of English.”
During an appearance on the Eric Bolling Podcast, Trump ranted at length about the influx of migrants entering the United States through the southern border,...

Donald Trump Jr. blasted Fox News for spending too much time focusing on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) over the past few years.
The son of Donald Trump appeared on Newsmax’s The Balance and was asked about his feelings toward Jp Morgan Chase chairman Jamie Dimon endorsing Nikki Haley, who is currently running for president.
“The problem is they fear Donald Trump because they understand that Donald Trump will do what’s right for the American people, not what’s right for Wall Street billionaires and executives like Jamie Dimon,” Trump Jr. said. “They want someone who answers to them. They want someone that has no choice but to answer to them because their entire political existence is due to them and their money. So they’re desperate to stop that. The conservative news streaming service is off to the races, showing off an impressive subscriber total for its first 30 days.
It’s hard to underestimate the importance of live news, even as cord-cutting continues to impact the TV-watching audience. One survey from September found that all age groups used their broadcast TV channels to watch news more than any other type of programming.
The conservative news streaming service Newsmax+ launched at the beginning of November. At the end of that month, the service had already accrued 150,000 subscribers. The figure is impressive for a streamer with a niche audience and a narrow selection of content. How is Newsmax+ Doing?
When Newsmax+ first launched earlier this month, it was undoubtedly a gamble for Newsmax. After all, the channel’s content had been streaming on a free ad-supported TV (Fast) channel on platforms like Roku and YouTube, so it was no guarantee that...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) denied he wears lifts in his shoes despite heavy online speculation.
In an interview on Monday, podcast host Patrick Bet-David asked DeSantis about the rumor as he showed the 2024 Republican hopeful images from a viral TikTok video of DeSantis in his boots, where the creator wrote, “Tell me he’s not wearing hidden heels.”
DeSantis insisted that he wears “standard, off-the-rack Lucchese Boots.”
Bet-David cut DeSantis off to ask him his height, to which DeSantis replied he was 5’11”.
Bet-David then pointed out DeSantis is never seen in tennis shoes or dress shoes, and DeSantis said he wears tennis shoes when he works out.
The podcaster then said that he had bought DeSantis a pair of shoes at Ferragamo earlier.
When presented with the shopping bag, DeSantis responded, “I don’t accept gifts, I can’t accept it. I’m sorry.”

The hard-right news channel now has its own subscription streaming platform, with prices starting at $4.99 per month.
The removal of Newsmax from Directv earlier this year drew sharp protests from ultra-conservative viewers of the channel, who were quick to cry censorship at its withdrawal. Directv insisted there was no political motivation behind the removal, and eventually a new carriage deal brought the channel back to airwaves for Directv customers.
Carriage disputes are only becoming more common as cable and satellite lose customers, however. To help allay audience anxiety that the channel may be pulled from other providers in the future, Newsmax has launched its own direct-to-consumer (Dtc) service, imaginatively named Newsmax+, which is available now.

Former President Donald Trump confirmed Sunday that he will be skipping Wednesday’s first Republican presidential primary debate — and others as well.
“The public knows who I am & what a successful Presidency I had,” Trump wrote on his social media site. “I Will Therefore Not Be Doing The Debates!” His spokesman did not immediately clarify whether he plans to boycott every primary debate or just those that have currently been scheduled.
The former president and early GOP frontrunner had said for months that he saw little upside in joining his GOP rivals on stage when they gather for the first time in Milwaukee on Wednesday, given his commanding lead in the race. And he had made clear to those he had spoken to in recent days that his opinion had not changed.
“Why would I allow people at 1 or 2 percent and 0 percent to be hitting me with questions all night?...

The former president implied in the interview that aired Wednesday that his election loss happened because Democrats cheated after being asked if he will take part in the second Republican primary debate, hosted by Fox Business. Trump noted that he’ll give his answer “next week.

The battle between Tucker Carlson and Fox News is heating up.
The cable news network, which announced on April 24 that it had “agreed to part ways” with its star anchor, sent Carlson a cease-and-desist letter on June 7 over his newly launched Twitter show, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Fox News did not respond to a request for comment.
The letter arrived hours after Carlson’s first show posted on the social media platform on June 6. The episode, clocked at 10 minutes and 27 seconds, was taped in Carlson’s home studio in Maine and took swipes at everyone from Senator Lindsey Graham to Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the mainstream media. It has notched 114.8 million views so far. A second episode, which posted on June 7 and runs slightly longer at 12 minutes and 38 seconds, boasts 54.9 million views to date, according to Twitter’s own measures.

Newsmax Accuses Murdochs of Designing a ‘New-World-Order Globalist Kill List’ Against Tucker Carlson
Newsmax has been working overtime to capitalize on cable viewers outraged over competitor Fox’s firing of headline host Tucker Carlson. In their eagerness to tear down the conservative media giant, their claims about the network have now boiled over into the outright conspiratorial.

MSNBC’s All In With Chris Hayes topped the 8 p.m. Et time slot on Wednesday night, a ratings win for a Fox News rival following the departure of Tucker Carlson.
Hayes’ show drew 1.38 million viewers, edging out Fox News Tonight with 1.33 million and CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 with 643,000. In the 25-54 demo, All In had 167,000, compared to 139,000 for AC360 and 124,000 for Fox News Tonight.
Tucker Carlson Tonight had consistently dominated the time period and was the most viewed show in cable news last month. It averaged 3.25 million viewers in March.
After his exit on Monday, Fox News launched Fox News Tonight, designed to feature a rotating series of hosts until a permanent successor is named. Brian Kilmeade has been hosting this week. The audience has fallen off from the start of the week.
The top ratings for Hayes’ show may be due to audiences on the right going elsewhere.

Unsurprisingly, Fox News ratings suffered Monday night without the channel’s most watched host.
After the surprise of Fox News and Tucker Carlson “agree[ing] to part ways” on Monday, the network’s 8 p.m. hour had a significantly smaller audience Monday night. The debut of Fox News Tonight, hosted by Brian Kilmeade (the first in a series of rotating hosts), pulled in just under 2.6 million viewers — about 21 percent below the average for Tucker Carlson Tonight (3.3 million viewers) over the past eight Mondays.
Fox News Tonight also took a hit in the key news demographic of adults 25-54: Its 0.24 rating was 37 percent lower than the 0.38 Carlson averaged over the prior eight Monday shows.
Those figures were still more than enough to lead the 8 p.m. hour on cable news by a sizable margin. A Joe Scarborough Presents special on MSNBC came in at 1.51 million viewers, while Anderson Cooper 360 drew 728,000 people to CNN.

Late last month, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell was busy working with staunchly pro-Trump lawyers on a plan to sue House speaker Kevin McCarthy. On Monday afternoon, the plan collapsed entirely, a “very disappointed” Lindell tells Rolling Stone.
“The lawyers came back this afternoon and said after working on this and researching, I cannot sue [McCarthy] now,” he says. “They found too much [precedents] against doing it…I had five different law firms looking into this, from every which way and direction and I was pushing to have the lawsuit filed as soon as possible.

Last month, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson was granted exclusive access to the trove of more than 44,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. On Monday night Carlson released the first installment of his analysis of the tapes, telling viewers that the vast majority of the protestors who breached the Capitol on Jan. 6 were not insurrectionists but “orderly and meek” sightseers.
Carlson opened his Monday night monologue by reiterating the network’s claims of 2020 election malfeasance, stating that the “2020 election was a grave betrayal of American democracy given...

When House speaker Kevin McCarthy gave Fox News host Tucker Carlson, a leading Jan. 6 revisionist, exclusive access this month to a vast archive of unseen surveillance footage of the deadly Capitol riot, he — expectedly — pissed off the left. But the Republican lawmaker’s move didn’t just infuriate his liberal counterparts, who accused him and Fox of working to rewrite history and potentially even inviting new “security risks.”
McCarthy’s gift to Carlson immediately triggered a right-wing media feud, and drew the scorn of multiple high-profile Donald Trump allies. And...

Even Newsmax, the network which itself is being sued by Dominion Voting Systems for promoting false claims that Dominion engaged in election fraud, is done with Lara Logan.
The onetime 60 Minutes correspondent has been kicked off the far-right network after comments she made on Eric Bolling’s show that included wild assertions such as “the open border is Satan’s way of taking control of the world,” and the anti-Semitic — and patently false — idea that an elite cabal “want us eating insects [and] cockroaches” while they “dine on the blood of children.”

Lara Logan, a former correspondent for 60 Minutes and CBS News, has been banned from the right-wing channel Newsmax following a rant pushing various QAnon-style conspiracies. In a strange interview with host Eric Bolling, Logan talked about a “global cabal” that is planning to bring “100 million illegal immigrants” to the United States to “dilute the pool of patriots.” She added that “the open border is Satan’s way of taking control of the world” before saying that the world’s elites “want us eating insects [and] cockroaches” while they “dine on the blood of children.” The network quickly distanced itself from Logan and her bizarre comments, telling CNN in a statement, “Newsmax condemns in the strongest terms the reprehensible statements made by Lara Logan and her views do not reflect our network. We have no plans to interview her again.” During her time at CBS News, Logan was known for her war reporting,...

The day after Lara Logan’s unhinged rant on Newsmax about a Satanic “global cabal” that must be defeated by White Christians, the far-right news network has banned her from its airwaves.
On Eric Bolling’s show on Wednesday night, she began regurgitating Q-Anon talking points, including the racist “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory, insisting she had proof of a worldwide plan to fully implement in the United States. That escalated to talk of Satan and non-Republicans who “dine on the blood of children.”
“Newsmax condemns in the strongest terms the reprehensible statements made by Lara Logan,” the network said in a statement shared with The Daily Beast on Thursday. “We have no plans to interview her again.”

As Donald Trump weighs his White House chances for 2024, there’s one race where, at least in his own mind, he’s already running: the “Fox News primary.”
In recent months, according to two people familiar with the matter, the twice-impeached ex-president has routinely obsessed over Fox’s coverage of him versus his potential Republican primary rivals. That obsession kicks up a notch when it comes to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. One source recalled Trump suddenly dropping into conversation a question regarding how much Fox News airtime DeSantis had enjoyed lately.

Newsmax has added Eric Bolling to its lineup, with plans for him to host a new show in July.
Further details will be announced, but Bolling will begin to serve as a guest host on shows starting on Monday.

Newsmax host Grant Stinchfield came under fire for calling Israel the “home country” of American Jews on a Wednesday night broadcast.
“I don’t belong to any political party but I am Jewish and newsflash: my home country is the United States. To suggest otherwise is bigotry,” tweeted CNN anchor Jake Tapper.
Others, like The Daily Beast’s editor at large Molly Jong-Fast, were more succinct: “My ‘home country’ is America,” she wrote.
By Thursday morning, Eric Bolling announced he would be filling in for Stinchfield for the rest of the week on his primetime show — though a rep for Newsmax later explained that Stinchfield was “speaking at an event” that “had been planned for a while” and that is why he would not be on air on Thursday or Friday.

Two prominent House Democrats have fired off a letter to AT&T, Comcast and Amazon and other channel distributors, asking them whether they plan to continue carrying Fox News, One America News Network and Newsmax.
In the letter, Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-ca) and Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-ca) single out the networks as “misinformation rumor mills and conspiracy theory hotbeds that produce content that leads to real harm.”
“Misinformation on TV has led to our current polluted information environment that radicalizes individuals to commit seditious acts and rejects public health best practices, among other issues in our public discourse,” they wrote in the letters. (Read them here). The letter was sent to 12 cable, satellite and streaming companies.
The lawmakers added that “to our knowledge, the cable, satellite, and over-the-top companies that disseminate these media outlets to American viewers have done nothing in response to the misinformation aired by these outlets.”

Sinclair Broadcast Group has dropped plans to air a segment that included a doctor who has advanced the conspiracy theory that Dr. Anthony Fauci was responsible for the creation of the coronavirus.
The segment was to be featured on Eric Bolling’s America This Week. It featured an interview with Judy Mikovits, a medical researcher who was featured in a conspiracy video called The Plandemic.

In the nixed episode of America This Week, which is hosted by Eric Bolling, Dr. Judy Mikovits shared her theory that immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci — a member of the White House’s coronavirus task force — has for years manufactured coronaviruses and shipped them to Wuhan, China. Though Mikovits, when pressed, stopped short of asserting that Fauci created the coronavirus the caused the current pandemic,...

Sinclair Broadcasting, one of the nation’s largest operators of local TV stations, said on Saturday it would delay its planned presentation of a news report featuring commentators offering discredited conspiracy theories about the nation’s coronavirus pandemic, after the piece drew scrutiny and pushback.
“We will spend the coming days bringing together other viewpoints and provide additional context,” the Hunt Valley, Maryland, company said in a statement Saturday afternoon. “All stations have been notified not to air this and will instead be re-airing last week’s episode in its place.”
The move suggests the company reversed its planned course. Sinclair earlier in the day indicated the piece would air. “We’re a supporter of free speech and a marketplace of ideas and viewpoints, even if incredibly controversial,” the broadcaster said in a statement earlier in the day. Sinclair owns, operates or provides services to 191 TV stations in 89 U.S.

Fox News is parting ways with Ed Henry.
The longtime anchor has been fired after the investigation into a complaint about “willful sexual misconduct in the workplace.”
The network received a complaint from a former employee on June 25, but no further details have been disclosed.
In the wake of his firing, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace released the following memo to all employees, which was obtained by Deadline:
“We would like to bring a very serious matter to your attention in an effort toward full transparency given the many actions we have taken to improve the culture here over the last four years."
"On Thursday, June 25, we received a complaint about Ed Henry from a former employee’s attorney involving willful sexual misconduct in the workplace years ago."
"We immediately retained an outside law firm (which has never represented Fox News in investigation or litigation) to independently investigate the claims.

New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay and MSNBC anchor Brian Williams were mocked Friday for a not-so-great demonstration of their math skills on the air Thursday night when neither realized that $500 million divided among 327 million people would not give each person $1 million.
Of course, they got ridiculed online, but not just by amused viewers. Some media and television veterans, like former Fox Newser and current Sinclair host Eric Bolling, pointed out that MSNBC’s producers were also at fault for creating a whole full-screen graphic of an unverified assessment from a third party and letting Williams and Gay discuss it without ever checking the math.
Yahoo Finance editor-at-large Daniel Roberts mused that “the craziest part of this insane clip is when Brian Williams says ‘don’t tell us if you’re ahead of us on the math; and you think he’s about to realize on air that...

In a bid to focus less on politics and more on investigative journalism, Sinclair Broadcasting Group dropped chief political analyst Boris Epshteyn, according to a Wednesday report from NBC News. Epshteyn previously held roles in President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and the Trump administration.
NBC News also reports Epshteyn will be taking on “a sales-focused role with the company,” a source familiar with the matter told TheWrap.

Sinclair owns about 200 local news outlets around the country and those outlets had to treat Epshteyn’s commentary segments as “must-run” programming. In April 2018, he defended his “Bottom Line With Boris” commentary, saying, “In terms of my analysis playing during your local news, as you see, my segments are very clearly marked as commentary. The same cannot be said for cable and broadcast news hosts who...
