After she filed her suit in 2021, alleging that Disney’s move to release “Black Widow” on Disney+ on the same day it hit theatres during the pandemic cost her millions in backend payments.
“There is no merit whatsoever to this filing,” Disney responded at the time. “The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The fiery response from the studio surprised many industry watchers, though the two parties eventually settled out of court.

The lead-up to Pete Davidson’s return to Saturday Night Live on Saturday, May 6, will be practically a vacation for the long-running NBC series’ cast and crew, according to veteran SNL star Kenan Thompson. Davidson is set to return to Studio 8H on May 6 as host, with rapper Lil Uzi Vert joining the show as musical guest. And at the New York City premiere of Bupkis, Davidson’s new Peacock series, on Thursday, April 27, Thompson told Entertainment Tonight that he’s glad when an SNL alum returns to host the sketch-comedy show. “It’s like a week off for us, because they know how to do the show … so we don’t have to hand walk them through every single part of it,” he explained. “And, you know, Usually they come with ideas too, so, like, a quarter of the show is almost already done. You know, it’s just a fun,...

There are a few moments on Saturday Night Live that make the audience gasp. Sinead O’Connor tearing a picture of the Pope was one. Fortunately, most of those get cut before they go live. Still, Saturday Night Live records the dress rehearsals and some of those sketches have appeared since. Longtime SNL Head Writer Jim Downey remembers a Norm Macdonald Weekend Update joke that was so shocking, they used the sound of the audience gasping in live shows later.

Saturday Night Live has spawned many stars over the decades, from Eddie Murphy to Will Ferrell and Gilda Radner to Kate McKinnon. Another SNL great is Molly Shannon, who rose to fame on the show in the ’90s. Since leaving SNL in 2001, the actor/comedian has opened up about her time on the show, often discussing what inspired Mary Katherine Gallagher and the demands of playing the character.

Standing ovations are certainly nothing new when it comes to Broadway productions (the cast and crew would really have to screw up not to get one), but there was something a little extraordinary about the one that greeted a recent performance of the musical Mean Girls at the August Wilson Theatre. The energy and the enthusiasm from the audience seemed a little overwhelming, which immediately begs the question: what is it like to be on the receiving end of that kind of response? "I have to say, my favorite part in the show is the last 10 minutes," replies Erika Henningsen, who plays nice girl gone mean, but eventually redeemed, Cady Heron. "There are days when I think, 'Oh my God, I don't have the energy to do this.' It becomes such a marathon, but then in the last 10 minutes I get to speak to the cast — the full cast — in that Spring Fling number.

Bumpers no longer refer simply to the boxy ends of a car. For Mary Ellen Matthews, the show photographer for "Saturday Night Live," bumpers are the highly stylized images of musical guests and hosts seen in three second increments before and after commercial breaks. Her images typically only appear in print inside the halls of Rockefeller Plaza. “Live From New York: A Decade of Portraits,” premiered Monday night at the John Varvatos store on Bowery.
