Move Mountains Productions have released the official trailer for new film The Sun Also Rises, due for release in Summer. The Sun Also Rises is the directorial debut of a full-length film by Roland Manookian and is produced by Shane McCormick, Tom Gordon (Good Shout film collective founder), Josh Witcher and Franky Lankester (Ron Hopper’s Misfortune).
The film focuses on Raye (Gina Jones), a woman trapped in an abusive relationship. The film charts her struggle to survive, her journey to escape, and how the cycle of violence affects everyone who comes into contact with it.
The Sun Also Rises is a beautiful film with an ultimately positive message of redemption; it pays homage to the strength of the human spirit. The film draws inspiration from the Ernest Hemmingway book Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises, portraying Raye’s journey through the lens of a metaphorical bull run. Producer Shane McCormick...

Violence in American football has been a big issue during the last year. After former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was videotaped knocking his girlfriend unconscious in an elevator and other players were reportedly involved in incidents of domestic abuse, the National Football League issued a Code of Conduct for players. Violation of the code can result in a player being suspended or kicked out of the sport altogether. In Great Britain, however, it’s not the players who are guilty of off-the-field violence, it’s the fans. “Football hooliganism” as it is known, is and has been a problem for years. Nick Love’s 2008 film, “The Firm” tells a story set in the midst of this violent world.

It’s already difficult to survive a psychopath hellbent on killing you and your best friends, but to take on such a ferocious threat while high on drugs? That takes serious coordination, focus, and a little bit of luck. This is the sinister scenario that Lloyd must survive in the UK thriller Comedown, coming soon to VOD in the Us from The Orchard and Shock Till You Drop.
Hitting VOD in the Us on August 5th, Comedown will also be available on iTunes, Amazon, and other VOD platforms:
“Directed by Menhaj Huda (Kidulthood), the film finds Anderson playing one of six friends – all of whom have known each other from childhood.
They break into the tower block they lived in as kids, now deserted and condemned, to rig-up a pirate radio station, get high and party. When one of the group goes missing, this group begin to search the dark...

Marley; Outside Bet; Battleship; Lockout
Considering the extraordinary levels of access that he's been granted both to interviewees and archive recordings, it would have been easy for Kevin Macdonald's vibrantly exhaustive documentary Marley (2012, Universal, 15) to become little more than a hagiography. Although the tone is indeed broadly celebratory (Ziggy Marley gets an executive producer credit, and family members feature heavily on screen), Macdonald still manages to delve beneath the public adulation, painting a credible and engrossing picture of a troubled youth who grew into a cultural giant, often at the cost of his family life.
Describing his approach as "more traditional" than such previous works as Touching the Void, Macdonald intertwines interviews, stills and concert footage with some spectacularly scenic views of Jamaica as he traces Marley's mixed-race roots (his father was a uniformed white man who looked at home on a horse) to find a search for...

First look at Comedown, the new teen urban-horror feature from Kidulthood director Menhaj Huda.
The young cast includes Jessica Barden, Jacob Anderson, Sophie Stuckey, Duane Henry, Calum MacNab and Adam Deacon as six tearaway teenagers who break into an abandoned, condemned tower block to make mischief and party.
Mercy Point, a high-rise tower block conceived and built in the sixties, condemned in the nineties. Abandoned by all, it is now home to a brooding malevolence, and what resides within its empty floors is truly terrifying.
Lloyd (Jacob Anderson) a young man in his early 20′s, is facing the reality of fatherhood, determined to rise above the pervading knife culture and bleak environment he calls home. He’s back after time away in jail, reunited with the crew he left behind: Gary (Calum MacNab) – pyromaniac joker of the pack, Jason (Adam Deacon) – Lloyd’s Alpha male rival, Col (Duane Henry)– Jason...

A group of printers invest in a racehorse.
There is a certain amount of retro charm to Sacha Bennett's film tale of print union strife and racing but it never really manages to break free from the small-screen shadow of the likes of Only Fools And Horses.
Based on The Mumper, by Mark Baxter and Paolo Hewitt, and adapted for the screen by Nigel Bennett, the nostalgia is as thick as the smoke that pervades every corner of the cockney boozer where the central characters spend their spare time.
Calum MacNab puts in a warm, cheeky chappy appearance in the lead role of...

Bob Hoskins is one of the many talented stars of this fall's Made in Dagenham, which has gotten disappointingly little Oscar buzz given its stellar cast and generally heartwarming story. Hoskins plays an auto plant manager who helps the women there go on strike, but he's apparently not done telling stories about labor issues. According to THR he'll play a role in Weighed In: The Story of the Mumper, centered around the 1980s strike by British newspaper workers. No, I have no idea what a mumper is, though it seems fair to assume there's some British slang involved in creating that word. Joining Hoskins will be Jenny Agutter and Emily Atack, with Calum McNab, Adam Deacon, Vincent Regan, Terry Stone and Perry Benson all on board already for director Sacha Bennett. Yes, this may be the most obscurely British story in the world to tell, but i would have said...

Our roving reporter, Adam Farina has been off interviewing again and this time it’s director of The Firm, Nick Love. Love has previously brought us movies like The Football Factory and The Business, both of which did very well with DVD sales. The Firm is a remake of the Alan Clarke TV movie of the same name which starred Gary Oldman back in 1988. This version is directed by Nick Love who has previously brought us movies such as ‘The Football Factory’. Both versions of ‘The Firm’ are based around the original screenplay which was written by Al Ashton.
In the interview, Adam asks Nick about the casting of Paul Anderson and Calum McNab plus looks a little deeper into the genre that Love seems to have a lot of focus on. Love also talks bout the possibility of a sequel to The Business which a lot of people would love to see.

Filmmakers behind soccer movie The Firm have been handed an official apology from London police - after cops mistook the shoot for scenes of real violence.
Officers investigating clashes between rival fans in east London in August used a TV report by Sky News to capture the faces of hooligans believed to be involved in fighting ahead of West Ham's crucial game against Millwall.
But officers failed to realise the TV channel was actually broadcasting footage from the movie and they sent out pictures of the actors alongside real suspects wanted in connection with the violence.
Scotland Yard bosses have now withdrawn six mugshots they published, over fears they could be sued by the film's stars.
A spokesman for the police force says, "We wish to apologise unreservedly to those affected."
A representative for the production company behind the movie, Vertigo Films, adds, "We have received an apology from the Metropolitan Police which has been accepted."
The film stars British actors Daniel Mays, Paul Anderson and Calum McNab.

I must admit I really wasn’t expecting much as I sat in the cinema waiting for British director Nick Love’s latest offering.
The Firm is a remake of a seminal 1988-television feature that starred Gary Oldman and was directed by Alan Clarke. It caused outrage when it was first shown. British tabloids warned its readers of ‘Sick scenes’ and it was even controversial enough for famous clean up campaigner Mary Whitehouse to try and get it banned.
Alan Clarke was no stranger to controversy as a filmmaker having previously directed Scum in 1977 and Made In Britain in 1982. Alan Clarke’s The Firm is a gritty, well-made and violent film about football hooligans and yob culture.
Having watched it recently ahead of watching the remake I have to say it has dated quite a bit, but it hasn’t lost any of its power to shock. It’s a...

The Firm sees Nick Love, the man behind The Football Factory, return with another glimpse of the dark side of the beautiful game and here's a first glimpse of the poster in all its shellsuited-and-booted glory, courtesy of Warner Bros.Originally an Alan Clarke-directed TV drama with Gary Oldman as an unhinged crew leader, The Firm is given a different skew by Love's reboot which follows the seduction of the funny, fast-mouthed Dom (Calum McNab) into the violent world of football hooliganism. Expect the insults - and bottles - to fly as a soon-hesitant Dom finds the casual lifestyle a lot easier to get into than out of.The Firm is in cinemas on September 25, and co-stars Paul Anderson as gang leader Bex and Daniel Mays. ...

Nick Love (Outlaw, The Business, The Football Factory) revisits Alan Clarke's (Scum, Made in Britain , Rita, Sue and Bob Too!) seminal late 80's TV movie about the violent casual firms that warred on and off the terraces of British football clubs. Love's new film tentatively titled "the firm 1984" is set some years earlier than Clarkes opus and revolves around a different character. Dom, a young wannabe football casual, who get drawn into the charismatic but dangerous world of the firm's top boy, Bex. Accepted for the fast mouth and sense of humor, Dom soon becomes one of the boys. But as Bex and his gang clash with rival firms across the country and the violence spirals out of control, Dom realises he wants out – until he learns it’s not that easy to simply walk away.
