Come one! Come all! Gather around, because the carnival is back… Alleluia! The Devil’S Carnival that is! In celebration of the new film, I spoke with two of the films stars – Chantal Claret and Jimmy Urine. You might know them from their music careers, but I promise you, they steal the show in the carnival! This was a real treat for me, not only as a fan of their music, but as someone lucky enough to call them pals! Check it out as we talk about acting, The Hoff, and get a bit ‘old timey’ with slang!
After triumphant collaborations on 2008’s Repo! The Genetic Opera and 2012’s The Devil’S Carnival: Episode One, cult filmmakers Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich are back with the second installment to their fantasy-musical film franchise. In Alleluia! The Devil’S Carnival, Lucifer sets a plot in motion against Heaven and all hell breaks loose.

The directorial life of Darren Lynn Bousman exploded back in 2005 when he took over the Saw franchise for three entries, but since his days of torturing the not-so-innocent, Bousman has found himself making the movies He wants to make. Independent cinema seems to be the filmmaker’s calling these days, and with a catalog boasting 2010’s Mother’s Day remake, Repo! The Genetic Opera and a few more notables, can you blame him? It’s a long and arduous road, but one that seems to be more fulfilling, given the determination that’s required to gamble on passion.
One of his more unique efforts is 2012’s The Devil’s Carnival, which sends a cast full of famous musicians into the bowls of Hell for a sinister carnival experience. You’ll dance with the devil and have a blast doing so in one of my favorite Bousman films, but it appears...

It's war between heaven and hell in Alleluia! The Devil's Carnival, making its world premiere tonight at Hollywood's Egyptian Theatre ahead of its upcoming Us tour. We recently caught up with director Darren Lynn Bousman and writer/actor Terrance Zdunich (who plays Lucifer) to talk about the highly anticipated musical film follow-up to 2012's The Devil's Carnival.
On the decision to have heaven as the setting of the sequel:
Darren Lynn Bousman: We always knew that Devil’s Carnival was about more than just the carnival. When we did part one, heaven is only glimpsed at for a few seconds. And we knew that the next one that we did, we had to give heaven the same amount of time we gave hell.
After Devil’s Carnival 1 was completed, Terrance and I started talking about what would heaven look like and what could we do to make the audience excited to see heaven.

Back in 2012, Hell came to town in Darren Lynn Bousman’s The Devil’s Carnival. Written by and starring Terrance Zdunich (Repo! The Genetic Opera), this old-school musical journey turned Hell into a three-ring circus, complete with a whole host of sideshow acts and carnie workers who belted out sinful songs of sorrow. Three souls entered looking for redemption, but what they found was more despair – and some catchy tunes!
It wasn’t long after that Bousman teased a return to his wacky carnival, and while it took some time to get things off the ground, we can now confirm his long-gestured sequel will be coming to a town near you! If you were as big a fan of Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich’s musical horror spectacle The Devil’s Carnival as I, you can officially start rejoicing now that production has begun on The Devil’s Carnival 2. If you can remember, a teaser trailer was released way back in 2012 that suggested the hellish carnival inhabitants would be traded for – or joined by – an equally colorful cast of heavenly bodies, and this was confirmed by TechN9ne’s angelic Librarian. Since then, there hasn’t been much movement, but if you’ve been checking up on the project’s social media channels, you’d know that Bousman’s production has officially been given the green light! Alleluia!

We caught up with actor and producer Marc Senter over the weekend to chat with him regarding his role in Grace director Paul Solet’s BlackBoxTV short Going Down as well as his growing musical inclinations and more. Read on!
Senter, who came to horror audiences’ attention with his starring role of “Ray Pye” in Chris Sivertson’s 2006 indie darling The Lost, and who subsequently has appeared in Darren Lynn Bousman’s The Devil’s Carnival and Simon Rumley’s Red, White & Blue, riffed on his collaboration with Solet on the Angel Heart’esque Going Down.
“Paul and I met a handful of years back,” said Senter, who portrays “Gunther Clearly” opposite actress Dinora Walcott in Going Down, of the collaboration. “We've wanted to work together for a while now so it was a blast finally getting the opportunity to do so. Aside from being a great director, Paul's also a really positive guy.
